There will never be a better VRBO than this one. We have stayed here 4 years in a row and would never think about another home on this island. It’s perfect and it raises the bar so high that every other VRBO we have tried is always a disappointment in comparison. The owners are local and keep this house PERFECT! They have it stocked with any amenity you could ever think of. Kitchen stocked with every spice, and cooking apparatus you could want. Beautiful serving tools, tablecloths and placemats. The house has an amazing front porch with a screened in dining area we use every meal. The reverse osmosis water system is tastier than any bottled water. They are so thoughtful and considerate and can be reached instantly with any questions. The beach is the most pleasant short walk away but the golf cart makes it easy to skip back and forth and around the island all day. The pool is perfect, the house is perfect, and the island is perfect. You will never stay at a home that is more well taken care of than this one. It is truly paradise and you will never want to go anywhere else in Florida after you have been here. I cannot express in words how wonderful this house is and how much we love it.

This was our second time at this amazing home. We visited last May for our anniversary and returned this time for my birthday. May was definitely better weather wise, but I think it was even unusually hot this past week while we visited. Locals told us November is the prime time to visit the island. The new reverse water osmosis system was great. No bottled water was even necessary. The house is well stocked and the owners are very responsive. If a quiet relaxing trip is what you’re looking for then North Captiva is the place for you!! Look no further.

We really enjoyed our stay. The Perfect Shell was stocked with all the amenities. We loved the pool, the sunsets at the beach and the family time the stay enabled.

Excellent location. Short walk or golf cart ride to the beach. Our kids loved spending time in the pool. The house is very well stocked, and there are lots of pool/beach toys and accessories! We texted Amy and Ken with questions, and they were on top of it immediately. I highly recommend the Perfect Shell!

This was our third time staying on the island. Compared to the other two properties we stayed, this house is so well stocked and "feels like home". Everything minus your essentials and groceries is provided. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are extra bath and pool towels, beach gear, and pool toys/rafts. It was so clean and the beds were very comfortable. The pool after a long day on the beach was so relaxing. We booked last minute and the communication with the owner was amazing. So thankful for a perfect stay at this beautiful home.

We had a "perfect" stay at the Perfect Shell. The house was clean, organized, items labeled with clear instructions for arrival, during and departure. Amy was a very responsive host from booking all the way through our stay with quick message response times, which was extremely helpful. Our check-in process was smooth, with groceries delivered directly-highly recommend as our vacation started the minute we arrived at the home. With close proximity to the beach, we could walk or take a short golf cart ride for swimming or watching sunsets. The house is also very close to the nature preserve with a great trail to the south end of the island to enjoy even more shelling experiences! We enjoyed the pool and used it constantly, as well as the poolside games shaded from the sun beneath the house. Thank you for keeping your home well maintained, it was an enjoyable vacation and wonderful trip to N. Captiva!

The Perfect Shell comes as advertised, stocked with everything you need, very clean and comfortable, a true home away from home! Amy and Ken are the best host, very responsive to questions. The Tortuga management team does a first class job delivering luggage and groceries. North Captiva is a unique island that provides a stress free, relaxed family vacation. This was our family second visit to North Captiva and The Perfect Shell in which our kids picked over Disney!!

When looking for a spring break location in Sanibel- our selections were obviously very limited by the devastation caused by the Hurricane. Luckily, this location popped up in North Captiva and we were very pleased. The Good- the house has all the modern conveniences -we spent tons of time at the pool (my son isn’t a fan of the beach). Having your own pool is a game changer and probably ruined me for future vacations. -the owners- very attentive to any questions and concerns. -the beach is amazing ***be sure to order plenty of groceries as dining out options are severely limited. In Summary- what a great place on a beautiful island!

Best place we have every stayed! Equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need and more! So clean and tastefully decorated. Minutes from the beach. Such a beautiful island. Amy was quick to answer questions and made sure we were well taken care of. We were so sad to leave but will be back!

Spent a DELIGHTFUL week at The Perfect Shell. The house is super comfortable, clean, and well stocked with everything one needs (especially the kitchen). We loved the quiet, the pool and its close proximity to the beach. The hosts are very responsive to questions/needs which provides a sense of security as the Island works to recover from Hurricane Ian. We definitely hope to return for future visits to the island.

Our first time at Ken and Amy’s home on North Captiva. The home was spotless and exceeded all of our expectations. We were worried about possible Hurricane Ian damage to the home but not a single thing out of place or damaged. Loved it and will be back. Thanks for a great week!

It is impossible to describe how amazing this house is. It is our third time visiting and we would never stay anywhere but here on North Captiva. It’s the best of the best. The owners live locally and it is always kept perfect. Any questions or needs are answered in minutes directly from the owners. They have a brand new water filtration on the whole house and the water tastes better than bottled. Owners have thought of everything to supply the home with from the kitchen to the first aid kits. House is gorgeous, pool is gorgeous, island is gorgeous. This is heaven, or as good as it gets here on earth. I could never guarantee a better place or better hosts than this house. Our family looks forward to being in this home and on this vacation from the second we leave till the second we get back there. Love love love!!

Our second time at the Perfect Shell and still amazing as the first. Property is well maintained, and very clean. Everything is comfortable…from the chairs to the couch to the pool and bed! Only 30 second golf cart ride right down to the best beach on North Captiva. Thank you Ken and Amy for sharing your beach home. We’ll see you next year!

We had so much fun staying on N Captiva and the Perfect Shell was the perfect house! Great decor, great layout, awesome pool, comfortable furnishings and beds, tons of games and movies, everything we could possibly need was there for us. It was by far the best stocked rental house we have ever stayed in! Our favorite thing to do was cruise around the island on the golf cart. We will be back!

I usually don’t do reviews because a lot of places are just average! Amy and Ken had this placed stocked so well!!! We literally didn’t need for anything!!! The home was beautiful and the location PERFECT!! Everything was flawless from check in, the stay, and check out!! Didn’t have to even carry our own luggage!! Absolutely LOVED the perfect shell!!! Thank you for a vacation in PARADISE!!

My family and I enjoyed our week long stay at the Perfect Shell. The home was clean and spacious for our family of 4. The house is stocked with tons of utensils, spices, games, supplies and equipment. We used the suggested Dumpling app to have our Publix food order delivered to the home before our arrival. There's no need to bring beach chairs, umbrellas or water toys as that is all provided, even the handy bag to collect all the beautiful shells you will encounter at the beach. The beds were comfortable and the house has a large screened in porch to enjoy meals or your morning coffee. The pool was our favorite spot - great place to cool off in the afternoons or for a quick swim after watching a beautiful sunset. We visited several spots on the island for our beach spots - everything is just a short golf cart ride away. We visited the Mainstay restaurant a few times - friendly staff and good food/drinks. Amy, the property owner, and the Tortuga staff are helpful and attentive - they provide you with lots of information and tips to make sure you have a wonderful stay. I would recommend the Perfect Shell and North Captiva Island to anyone looking for a place to get away and relax.

We had the most amazing stay at the Perfect Shell. We were amazed at all of the details they thought to include in the home, from baby items, to games, to a kitchen stocked with everything you could possibly need! The location was perfect and the home was so cozy and inviting. The homeowners were so welcoming and checked-in to make sure our stay was perfect, and Tortuga Properties was wonderful, assisting with our groceries and needs as well as transporting us to/from our water taxi! We couldn't have asked for more! We will definitely be returning!

This was our third trip to the island but the first at this home and it was BY FAR the best we have stayed at! The Perfect Shell was well stocked and well maintained. Amy and Ken have thought of everything that you might possibly need and were very attentive. It definitely took all stress out of planning this trip. We will definitely be returning again!

We rented The Perfect Shell for our anniversary celebration and we had no regrets! This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever taken once we arrived to the island. I was skeptical in going due to the remoteness of the island and the thought of getting what I would need there etc etc. If that is keeping you from booking please don’t let it. When you arrive to the ferry the Island Girl Charter staff handle all the luggage until you arrive to the island and then Duncan and the Tortuga staff handle it from there. No worries! We did take some lightweight snacks and foods, but had the majority of our groceries delivered prior to arrival. This service is definitely worth the extra you pay for the convenience of having your groceries stocked and ready when you arrive. The home is beautiful and as pictured on the website. It is very well stocked and we had no worries of running out of anything. Plenty of bath and beach towels, chairs for the beach, and most anything else you could have forgotten. We loved the private pool and quick access to the beach area. The pool was a little warm for us initially but the homeowner was on the island and came right over to turn it off for us. After that it was perfect. If you enjoy shelling this is definitely the place you want to visit. I’ve never seen so many beautiful seashells. We loved riding around on the golf cart and chasing the beautiful sunsets. We do wish the golf cart would have gone a little faster consistently but it was still enjoyable. We are so thankful we could enjoy this little piece of heaven on earth for a week and certainly hope to return one day. Thanks again Ken and Amy for everything! This what exactly what we needed. The house was wonderful, spacious, super comfy, and had absolutely everything we needed. Interior was well kept/updated, organized and nicely decorated without being cluttered. Kiddos loved the house and especially the pool. Having the pool heated was absolutely perfect. We loved every minute of it. Host was very responsive before our trip with any questions we had and Tortuga Properties was incredibly helpful and responsive once on-site and they had a wonderful kid friendly week planned out while we were there (4/9-4/15/22). We wouldn’t change a thing! North Captiva was worth the trek especially bc we never felt overwhelmed with crowds of people. Recommend this stay to anyone with a family wanting to get away and avoid the crowds.
