This is a great place to stay. Peaceful sitting on the screened porch. Quiet neighborhood. Out of the way, yet close to everything.

The cottage was very clean and perfect for the activities in the area including Lake Murray, Congeree National Park, restaurants and shops.

We certainly enjoyed staying at the lovely house, so beautiful and comfortable, thanks to the hosts!

My sister and I met here to visit our aunt who lives in Irmo. If you get the chance to stay here, I highly recommend it The place is a true treat. The pictures accurately represent the inside of the home and the outside is very peaceful One of the things I really liked was that they have everything labeled No second-guessing what light switch does or where things are stored in cabinets and drawers One of my biggest turn off when staying someplace is the smell. This place smells heavenly If I’m back in the area, I will definitely try staying here again I’ve also shared the booking information with my family who lives in Irmo In case they have visitors in the future from out of state

The cottage was everything we hoped for and more!! Beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed and linens, plenty of space for us and a screened porch. We had everything we needed for our stay and it was close to the lake and some parks. Checkin and out was very easy, there were coffee pads and creamer for the keurig and plenty of dishes and cups, towels etc. Communication with the owners was easy and our only regret was we couldn’t stay longer!! Highly recommend this adorable cottage!

We definitely enjoyed our stay! It was a cute place and certainly tucked away. It is on the owners lot so you don’t really have the “place to yourself” but the cottage is your own. The owner has a house next to it and an airstream out back with guests as well. The cottage itself is nice and it certainly is “historic”. The floors are probably original which is great, but they are VERY loud. We have a 6 year old who we lay down around 7:00 and then my wife and I stay up till around 10:30. We could barely walk 2 steps without the floor giving out a loud CREAKKKK! Then he would wake up and be like “what was that!?” So I do not recommend this place if that would be your situation. Also there is no dining room table. So there is no where to sit inside to have dinner with your family or friends. There is only a couch to sit on. Outside on the porch there is a small table with 4 very old chairs to sit at. Also the two two twin beds upstairs are not very comfortable. They are VERY springy and can feel it as you sleep. Hopefully owner sees this and maybe buys a new box spring / mattress for those beds upstairs. However…. The master bed was SOOO comfortable. If they could match the comfort of the beds upstairs with the comfort of the ned downstairs that would be AMAZING! Also there is no dishwasher (which we knew) , but would’ve been nice since we had some meals there as well. Appliances are a bit outdated and there is ONLY a keurig and not an actual full coffee maker. Hope this helps!

We loved it. We were constantly on the go but it was always great to come back to the cozy cottage. We will be back for sure!

This is our second time staying at the Selwood Cottage and it won’t be our last. We travel a lot for work and this is exactly the type of place we wish was in every city we visit! Beautiful safe neighborhood, good location, clean, king bed, easy check-in, plenty of towels and blankets, lights left on for us, dog friendly, enough parking for our truck and trailer, and affordable!! Thank you for having us again! We’ll be back in September.

Great location

My adult daughters and I stayed recently while in town for a family event near here. Cottage is well appointed and felt cozy. We especially loved the quiet neighborhood. It felt private and safe. It is also a short distance away from a grocery store and Starbucks! Overall, this was a pleasant stay. Would recommend!

Cozy cabin near the lake. Plenty of room and a comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back soon.

We were visiting family for the holidays in the area this sweet little cottage ended up being with 10 minutes of everyone. Though it sits adjacent to the owners' home, it felt private with a nice screened in porch facing the woods. This will be our go to place for visits to family in the future. Great communication with owners when needed.

My new husband and I stayed here after our wedding! The owners were very kind. The home was very homey and clean! The bed was so comfortable! Be aware that the shower is small for tall people but it didn’t diminish for how cute this house was! We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the cottage in Columbia, SC, was nothing short of delightful. Accommodating our family of 5, the cottage offered a perfect blend of privacy and charm, being situated on the same property as the owners' main house. Impeccably clean and thoughtfully equipped, it left no detail overlooked. Abundant linens, well-stocked K-cups, and coffee creamers added to the thoughtful touches. The owners, friendly and laid-back, even operate a charming coffee cart at the local farmers market. Their encouragement for our boys to explore the property made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this haven in the heart of Columbia.

This was our second stay at this lovely cottage. Perfect for a short stay for a couple and two young children. Neighborhood feels very safe. Our dog loves hanging out on the screened in porch, overlooking the woods and lawn. We joined our son and his family for the oyster roast at the marina, and the location was perfect, less than ten minutes away. The king bed is extremely comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We plan to return.

Cozy quaint cottage that is well cared for. Clean and comfortable, wish I stayed longer. Felt very welcomed. Communication was prompt with the owner. Felt safe and secure, nice neighborhood for a short walk with the dog. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Exceptionally clean and wonderfully cozy! There were so many little niceties! The neighbor felt safe. The tv in the living room let me log in to my favorite apps. My children loved having their own area upstairs in the loft, and I was happy with the bed... very comfortable!

It was so exciting when we first walked in... clean, so well decorated, well furnished and appointed.. very comfortable beds... wonderful porch to share a glass of wine. We hope to stay there again when we come down to Columbia to visit our two sons and their families. Thank you, Thank you!

Great place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was a perfect location, comfortable, clean, and met all of our needs during the 2 days we spent in South Carolina. We would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay near Lake Murray.

This is a cute nice cottage. The host was so polite and kind. The house is stocked with anything you may need and the neighborhood is very nice. The only con I have is you can literally hear everything from every room, so no privacy.

Very nice and clean. All slept well. Close to town and getting back on the road. Will stay again.

Had a great stay! The house was super clean and has everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable and I took some excellent naps. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far in Columbia, and I was cool the whole time. The neighborhood felt very safe, even staying there by myself. Yet the house was also secluded enough to feel like I had privacy. Overall excellent trip!

I was looking for a quaint and quiet place to stay with my daughter. The Sellwood Cottage did not disappoint! The location to shopping and downtown Columbia was perfect and the lake is just a stone’s throw from it. The place was so cozy, we enjoyed reading and drinking coffee on the screened porch each morning. Kristen thought of everything! Will definitely return to stay!!

We loved staying in the cottage! It was clean, exactly as pictured, and in a beautiful neighborhood. Kristen was an awesome host and helped us out with a special request. We hope to stay again the next time we are in town! Couldn’t ask for more!
