Home was as advertised! Well appointed and had most of your day to day items available in case you wanted to prepare a meal and forgot something. Communication was great and the water pressure is unbelievable! Looking forward to renting this home again.

Excellent location for our 90th Birthday celebration for my mother-in-law! We did everything we wanted to do in skiing, tubing, and hiking and then had 3 comfortable cottages to return to for dinner, cocktail hour and birthday celebration. This cottage met all of our needs and we would consider returning in future winter seasons!

This deluxe cabin is clean, comfortable, and perfectly situated--it's just minutes from both Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks, and the little towns of Davis and Thomas. It had everything we needed to accommodate our group of eight adult friends. The kitchen was very well outfitted and we enjoyed sitting around the large family table for both breakfast and dinner each day! We also enjoyed the deck and the wooded view and star gazing at night. Highly recommended this cabin and Grace was a great hostess and check in and departing was a breeze!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home just miles from Canaan Valley and Timberline Ski Resorts! Great host with excellent communication…we plan to come again!

We really enjoyed our stay, the property was nice and clean, the only thing was not being able to control the thermostat, the home gets really warm in the afternoon with the sun coming through the windows. Windows have no blinds or shades making it difficult to seat in the living room. The bedrooms get really warm at night. Overall we really enjoyed this property and had a great time.

My adult children and I had a lovely time at this convenient and comfortable home. Comfortable beds, wood floors (which always feel cleaner to me), kitchen stocked with pots and pans and spice basics, oil, etc. Convenient location to drive to Timberline and Davis and hiking.

Communication leading up to our stay was great and very helpful. The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed, well equipped. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back to their cabin in the future! Great location and resort too!

We had a great time during our stay. The cabin provided us with all our needs and more. It was beautifully decorated and well kept. The T.V programming/streaming met all age groups wishes, especially during those rainy days or late nights. It was a short drive to winter sports, waterfalling, hiking, and great food. This is a great place to stay. The owner’s communication was exceptional and ensured that all our needs were met. Our family is definitely excited to return. 💕

One of the best owners I've ever dealt with regarding a vacation rental. The property was very clean and open. Nice deck. Beautiful area. Lots to do outdoors and don't miss the nearby town of Thomas. Quirky doesn't really cover it.

I love this CABIN, love the decor, lots of natural lights, very clean, cozy !! there’s a lot of things to do just in the neighborhood and only few mins to major tourist attractions. The Cabin has a large deck, woke up early and drink my coffee at the deck, has a very cute Master bedroom, very unique ! The house is perfect, location is the best ! We visited some beautiful stunning waterfalls , did a short scenic hiking, Dine at Canaan resort, watch the sunset at Lindy point, Enjoyed my visit to Blackwater state park, enjoyed my scenic ski lift ride to the top of Canaan Valley! We wanted to see Dolly sods and Seneca rocks, maybe next visit !! This is a quick visit… we will bring the entire family during the ski season. This location and the cabin is Perfect for us!! Love this CABIN! Exceeded my Expectation! We are booking again this winter. Alma

Very clean and comfortable property. Nearby Davis and Thomas are nice little towns. Most restaurants are closed mid-week which makes it challenging to find a nice place to eat but things liven up some on the weekend. Purple Fiddle is a must-do as is Picnic Taco in Thomas. Plenty of outdoor activities are available. We had to deal with daily rain but we still had a great time. Highly recommend the whitewater rafting and tubing. Our host, Grace, is very accessible and available for questions if needed.

It was a very nice house. I think they should have told us the pool was out of service. It was very disappointing when we got there and it wasn’t. The kids was looking forward to swimming.

The waterfalls and hiking (Douglas Falls & Dry Fork Trailhead were among our favorites) will not be forgotten. There are so many things to do in the area. My daughter loved riding horses with Mountain Trail Rides in Davis. Grace's guest book has plenty of helpful suggestions about activities, restaurant recommendations, and maps of the area. I can't say enough good things about our West Virginia stay. I now understand why they say it's almost heaven. This was our first trip to West Virgina and we could not have picked a more perfect spot. Thanks Grace for being a great host and so very helpful! We were thrilled to stay in the property. With persons ranging from 10 years to 75 years, each of us had an amazing time in the property. The decor, hygiene, and upkeep of every room was in tact and perfectly arranged. Thank you to the host!!!

It is located very close to everything- 2 ski resorts, snow tubing, ice skating, Blackwater Falls, the local grocery store, the towns of Davis and Thomas and hiking trails. Nice cabin conveniently situated between town and the slopes. The place has pretty much everything you'll need and the host is very responsive. DSL internet and very limited cell coverage, though (at least on Verizon), so if you need connectivity be aware.

there are beautiful places there is no variation of restaurants there a pizza restaurant in Thomas is good but the cleanliness of the cabin is horrible there was a lot of dust the blankets in the closet were not folded the dirty windows the lights burned out the bbq was disgusting I give it a good rating to the place as such not to the cabin

Even though it did not snow for us while visiting this part of the USA there was still so much to see and enjoy. We definitely plan on going back when snow is in the forecast. Loved all the hiking trails. Local places to eat and shop and breweries. Also found a meadery and had a tasting of his meads and honey. Loved the home and thankful to have been able to experience this with family for Christmas.

We gathered with my grown daughters and their SOs to celebrate Thanksgiving (along with our 35th anniversary and my birthday) because the location was more or less in the middle. The house was just right - cozy and well-equipped and perfect size for six adults to feel as if they had their own space, with an inviting open living area and large dining table for gathering. The style of decor is in line with the name of the resort (Black Bear Resort) - we had fun counting bears around the place even though we were all grown adults. We were able to bring our dog which was great. Given that the place allows one pet with a reasonable fee, it was exceptionally clean (I've got allergies and would know.) The beds were decent enough. One of my son-in-laws is an exceptional cook - and he loved having the gas cook top... the only thing he had to bring with him was a sous-vide. The resort itself is beautifully located - less than a 10 minute drive to the town of Davis where there was a Shop and Save (or something like that) grocery store that was very well supplied. it snowed while we were there and was extra gorgeous and almost made me think about taking up skiing - lol. On the day we had to leave :( the gravel road was "challenging" for my daughters to get their car up part of the incline out.... we should have had them park at the top of the small hill, but forgot on that last night. Anyway, both Grace and the people who worked at the resort were super helpful in helping us them escape! Four wheel drive definitely needed - but nice to have option for extra parking at top of the driveway. But keep in mind that during the winter months the road into the resort gets a bit slick as well - the town does a quick job at clearing though. All in all a wonderful stay with a gracious host who was always available by text and was full of suggestions for activities in the area. Would love to return someday! Or now!

We had a very quiet and relaxing trip. The host is amazing and the house is a perfect getaway. There are a ton of activities in the area or just stay in and Netflix for the day. Perfect balance.
