This was my second time to stay at this property. It is a great place to be in Alpine. It is centrally located to Ft Davis, Marfa, and Big Bend. It is clean and comfortable and within walking distance to downtown Alpine businesses. We will stay here next time we are in far West Texas!

Very nice property. Neighborhood not good

The place is exactly as described. Two nice bedrooms, two full baths, beautiful outdoor space, working fridge with ice maker, washer and dryer, dishwasher, televisions. Be advised that it is directly on the railroad track, so trains are involved. (The host provides ear plugs, which is a nice touch.) If you plan to cook, bring your own gear. We donated a mixing bowl and a working can opener to the house when we stayed. Think of it as camping... All in all it was a lovely little place and I would seriously consider staying there again the next time I visit Apline and the Big Bend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Train runs right behind home and we loved it! Such a comforting sound. Otherwise, so very quiet. Comfortable and clean. Everything works. Owner went above and beyond for our special needs. Lowe's grocery store, Dollar General and gas nearby. Highly recommend. Do not miss Museum of the Big Bend.

We spent our Christmas holiday in the wonderful Short’s Landing in Alpine,Texas. Our host Glen provided clear communication. This convenient location allowed us to easily visit Big Bend, McDonald Observatory, Marfa and other neighboring towns.
The house itself was perfect for our needs. Well laid out and fully equipped with everything we needed. Nicely furnished with comfortable beds. Our only regret was that we did not have time to take advantage of the outdoor space - deck, firepit, etc. We would definitely stay here again and make time to fully utilize the outdoor areas. The trains that run close by did not bother us at all. We heard them a few times, but absolutely no big deal.
Great place to stay in Alpine!

This place is great. Location to downtown is walking distance. Driving to Marfa, Fort Davis and Big Bend was convenient. This place is super cute inside and out. I will definitely come back and stay here

Yes, the major con is the train running behind the home. Didn't know that was an aspect when booking, but we luckily woke up early to go hiking at Big Bend National Park each day so we managed okay. They do offer earplugs though! Just be prepared.
Otherwise, home is so nice and cozy. It's definitely remodeled and there are some parts that felt a bit half done, but I felt very much at home after a long day of hiking. It was everything we needed! Warm beds and hot showers (note they're smaller corner showers) and comfortable shared living space with a great TV for entertainment and fully stocked kitchen. I hope to come back to take advantage of the awesome backyard entertainment space.

House is comfortable and clean. A wood porch chair collapsed, kitchen cabinets need repair (cabinet doors were falling off and drawers did not open without a fight). Brought a selection of music to play, but sound player was not available. These are easy fixes. Trains that run right behind the house are loud, but didn't affect us much. Location is easy walk to everything.

This is our 3rd time staying at this property. We travel to Alpine frequently and this house is one of our favorite places to stay. The backyard and deck are a great place to relax and hang out after venturing out all day. The house has great amenities and Glenn is extremely communicative. Highly recommend.

This property at Short's Landing is nicely decorated, comfortable, and offers nice outdoor space for relaxing. Everything you need is provided - such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, shampoo, shower gel, etc. Oftentimes, when staying at other VRBO's, we have had to buy our own. There is one big issue with this location that has to be mentioned - the trains!! Seriously, the tracks are right behind the house and the trains come through all hours of the night - blowing their horns!! (Earplugs are provided.) The property owner was very accessible through email and responded right away. All in all, we had a great time in Alpine, Ft. Davis, Marfa, and Big Bend. If you haven't visited this part of Texas, you must go!!

Clean, roomy, convenient to the attractions we can to see.

This house was really cozy and had everything we needed for a 4 night stay. The only downside was that the train tracks are directly behind the house and when the train goes by it is really loud. Thankfully the host provided earplugs for the evening and the train was infrequent enough to not be a problem. The host was very communicative and everything was clean and ready for us upon arrival. I'd definitely stay again.

My family and I stayed here during our trip to Big Bend. Alpine is an hour away from Terlingua and you have to drive further into the park to hike. For the price, this was a great deal. I wish we could have stayed closer to the park, but prices in Terlingua were stupid so we chose Alpine instead. If you don't want to cook, please note that all restaurants in or near the park have a 2+ hour wait list. It was quicker to drive back to Alpine and eat there. They have a few good restaurants.
The house was nice. There's a TV in the living room, and the kitchen looks pretty well stocked with that you need. If you cook here, bring your own spices. There are throw blankets, which were useful when we roasted marshmallows for smores on the back patio. The fire pit on the patio is gas so it was easy enough to use. The beds were okay, my kids didn't have any issues with sleeping there. The train is loud, especially if you're in the backyard, but we didn't have any issues sleeping because of the noise. The bathrooms had plenty of storage and even some toiletries you can use. The furniture was really comfortable. It was easy to make ourselves at home. The front porch was really cute too.
The negatives: We stayed when it was really cold out and the master bedroom was getting more of the heat than any other part of the house. We ended up keeping the door open to let some of the heat out so we could sleep without sweating. The showers need to be updated. Clear shower doors would be better than a curtain. There's no light in the shower and the curtain makes it darker. I'm not a fan of rain showerhead since you can't really get out of the water to soap up and the curtain will let water out if you're not careful. The hot water runs out fast. We had 4 people staying and the master bathroom had no hot water the first night and very little the second night. I texted the owner, per the directions, but I didn't get a response. You can't open the blinds on most of the windows. The ones in the master bedroom point down so the light wakes you up early if you wanted to sleep in. Also, there's no TV in the master bedroom. We didn't watch TV while we were here, but the listing has a TV in that bedroom. I know I'm nitpicky, but I wanted to give my honest opinion.

The house was a perfect size for us (two couples). Super clean, well-stocked with supplies, lots of amenities. The back deck was amazing and we loved the firepit.
The town of Alpine was a wonderful surprise. I chose it because it was sort of halfway between my sister and me. Turns out it's full of friendly people excited to share their town with you, and there are great little shops and a thriving arts community.
All in all, a wonderful stay!

This is our 2nd time staying here and we will more than likely stay here again. We frequent Alpine about 6x a year and this is our favorite place to stay. Spacious, good amenities and great outdoor area. Convenient to every place in town.

Excellent Property
This was one of the cleanest properties we have stayed at. The check-in and check-out process was extremely easy. The house was very comfortable and well laid out. Glenn was very easy to get in touch with. We reached out to Glenn in order to extend our stay and he responded within minutes and was very accommodating. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Although the train track is right behind the house, the train didn’t really bother us. Will definitely book here again.

Nice place
We were here for a family emergency. This is a very nice place. Very well stocked. Train noise like the rest of Alpine, ear plugs helped here as elsewhere.

A Nice Getaway
The house was cute and quirky. It had everything we needed to relax and spread out at the end of the day. The kitchen was well equipped. Everything was very clean. We enjoyed our stay.

We liked the comfort of being in a home during our family vacation to Big Bend National Park. Also, the home was decorated very nicely and had everything we needed. It was wonderful to be able to sit outside on the back deck to watch the outdoor tv and we even roasted marshmallows one night in the fire pit. It is a bit of a remote location, directly next to the train tracks, where trains came through multiple times during the night. We also had no hot water for showers, not sure what was up with that. Yet, we were thankful to have this home to rest in after visiting the NP. Thanks for helping to make our stay extra special and memorable!

Clean, great backyard, and convenient
We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. We spent majority of our time down in Big Bend, which is a little over an hour drive each way, but it is worth staying in Alpine for food, gas, stores etc. The backyard was very nice and we enjoyed having a place to be outside. The house is well stocked and very clean and comfortable. The train is on a regular schedule, but it was not as loud or as bad as I thought it would be based on other reviews. It is definitely a little unsettling the first night, but you get used to it. The only negative comment is the area where the house is located looks a bit run down. That said, we had no issues with crime, but we were a bit concerned about that when we first arrived.

Alpine/BigBend Adventure
Very nice little VRBO tucked into a not so nice neighborhood. Although, felt safe with the privacy fence. Very nice porch & large deck on the back. Good comfy beds & nice open living/dining/ kitchen area. Enjoyed having the “Alexa” feature. Train noise at night wasn’t that bad, because we were all so dog-tired by the end of each day w/ our hiking adventures @ BigBend…slept like a rock! ( although, earplugs are provided) Kitchen utensils & cabinet drawers/ doors could be improved. Enjoyed our nice little stroll through the shops of Alpine & Ft Davis on Sat.

Just right for us!
We planned 2 days at Big Bend yes it is a drive but beautiful then went to McDonald’s observatory and Marfa. Alpine is a cute town. Murals and shops we recommend Gringos for dinner. Thanks for bonfire and memories!

Rodeo Exes get away
Everything was clean and neat. It was very warm and inviting. Very up to date. Has many areas to just kick back and visit. Would stay again in a heartbeat. The train is close, but we are frequent visitors to Alpine and we hear it wherever we stay.

Good value overall
Nicely appointed home located in a neighborhood that did not make a great first impression, but no concerns with safety. The train track behind the house was not made clear on the website, or I missed it. They do run by the house at night, 1-2 on average. Ear plugs are provided. Despite this, it was a good value and give it a 4 star rating.

Great, just a bit farther than we expected.
This house is adorable. The property itself was a great place to stay, perfect and big enough for 4 people to stay comfortably.
We were visiting Alpine to stay somewhere outside of Big Bend to have an easy drive to it. I was not aware that even after the 80+ miles you drive from the location, you must drive another hour to get anywhere in the park. I should’ve done this research more to know it’s not all that convenient if you’re visiting to go to Big Bend National Park.
There is a train that went by multiple times in the middle of the night. If it happened to be a few blocks away, great but this train is right behind the backyard fence, making it right next to both bedroom windows. We woke up thinking the house was about to get hit by a train.
I’m mot sure if this is a vrbo thing, property or both, but there was quite an extensive check out cleaning process we had to follow I did not see on the listing beforehand. We wanted to get out early, and are charged a cleaning fee for a reason to rent. I think this should be listed to people know they would need to take out the trash, clean the fire pit, strip the beds in each room, etc. May be a COVID precaution too but was just a bi timely when trying to get on the road in the AM.
This is just my honest review. If you’re coming through to stay in alpine, it’s an adorable little town and the house is in the perfect location. If you’re coming to go to Big Bend, just be aware of how far the drive is.
Thank you!
