The photo of the seating area on the mount was obviously taken when it was newly painted and gives an highly inaccurate impression, the seating area is sand and loose bricks whilst the table is just flaked off old paint. The highly sophisticated sound system was unnecessary we felt, whilst heat in the on suite bathroom is necessary and still not working dispite someone mentioning it in the guest book during a February visit. We used the family bathroom. The vax cleaner mounting fell off the wall as the rawplugs were not secured correctly and a couple of smaller saucepans would have been useful. We enjoyed the quiet, the landscape, the seals singing on an evening but not a place we would return to.

Amazing property and location. Everything we needed for a relaxing week away from the daily grind.

Just what we wanted - absolutely off the beaten track. Toasty warm, comfy beds, huge towels, amazing views, relaxing sofas, great TV’s and capable WiFi Nothing needed

House was lovely and clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so peaceful. So much wildlife to see and we loved being in the nature reserve in the evening.

This is an amazing property so close to Barrow but a million miles away once you have entered the Reserve. I grew up in the Town but had never been to this part of Walney Island. The access road, once in the Reserve, is a good 15 mins bumpy drive. I would recommend arriving with provisions and not leaving. The house is well stocked with high quality kitchen / cooking facilities and a very good TV and sound system. Bathrooms are all excellent. This is a perfect place to gather with family / friends and just enjoy the surroundings and each other's company. Stunning! Whilst we enjoyed the natural outdoor space beyond the cottage it would be nice if the courtyard belonging to the cottage was tidied up a little bit. Some of the director chairs are broken / bit tired and the area could do with a clean up. The chairs are also super heavy. We took them out to sit on the grassy banks outside the cottage but a few lightweight deck chairs would be better for this purpose. The seating area around the blue table on the mound is also very overgrown and disappointing as this would be an amazing place to sit and have drinks / dinner if tidied up.

The lighthouse is really lovely, luxurious accommodation. It is supplied with everything you could possibly need and the hosts include a neat welcome package. The island is beautiful and the chance to enjoy it in peace and quiet when the reserve gates were shut was something we really valued. We fully recommend the lighthouse, the island and the hosts.

The views, the wildlife , animals and all the comfort in the house. Beautiful walking facilities. Cosy house. Friendly owner. (Average: due to road) The road, should be more improved…it gave is a leaking/flat tyre. Stunning view though. Last 2 nights: pity of the disturbing neighbours, with no respect for nature (driving up their car in the dunes), screaming kids running around our house till late, …

The location and history of the lighthouse are tremendous with the added bonus of wonderful scenery and wildlife. The cottage amenities and cleanliness are first rate...going beyond in terms of availability to all luxury items like sound system, kitchen fixtures, etc. The council did not pick up the garbage all week.

Stunning location ….. track to lighthouse cottage somewhat amusing and challenging…… The owner Martin was MOST helpful and prompt with sorting out a small heating problem …. .We Would come again !!….

A beautiful location secluded from the town nestled on a nature reserve. After 5 when the reserve closes it feels like a private island to walk around and enjoy magnificent sunsets. The road is bumpy and at times the car bottomed out. Pre warning and we would have brought the other vehicle.

What a lovely cottage, fully equipped, warm and welcoming. We’ve just spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed every day. It’s a little bumpy on the final track but so worth while. We enjoyed good weather which for September was a surprise, shorts and T-shirt every day. The lakes are close and worth a trip to see the sites and quaint villages and towns. A truly relaxing holiday. Would have loved to go up the lighthouse. Everything else perfect.

We absolutely loved everything about Lighthouse Cottage and staying on the nature reserve in Walney Island. The cottage is fantastically kitted out with absolutely everything you would need, it's very comfortable and has fabulous views. Thanks for the treats which were much appreciated. Loved the walks and peace and quiet and the soothing light of the lighthouse at night time. We hope to return. Thank you! Nothing!
