Stoke Beach House is located near Manly beach and the ferry. Bathrooms are below par for cleanliness. A staff member walked into an occupied double room after midnight. Private rooms are located near the onsite bar, so expect noise. Dormitory rooms 101 to 107 are dark, poorly ventilated ovens with no air conditioning, esp in Summer. Average age of backpackers staying here is around 23 years old.

The staff were so friendly, helpful and kind. I was really impressed with the cleanliness, breaky and how comfortable the beds were.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had booked a private King Bed in my own room which was great… I didn’t want to share a room as I’m in my mid fifties and wanted peace and quiet. Although the room was very basic, it is clean and comfortable. A night lamp would be very beneficial when reading in bed.
I could lock the shower cubicle which gave me privacy and the breakfast the next morning was yummy. I met some lovely young people travelling around Manly so I was able to give them some of my favourite places to see & visit in the area. Overall it was a very pleasant and positive experience for someone older like me, as this was my very first time ever in a hostel type accommodation. 😊

Lovely hostel in a great location -- especially enjoyed the curtained beds which made sleeping easy and great breakfast! Generally good cleanliness, although did see a cockroach in the hallway one evening. Also, the rooms did get really hot in the evening and it was hard to bring the temperature down, but if you don't mind a toasty room it wasn't too bad.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. It’s a nice place to stay. But very expensive for what you get. And our room was not cleaned once on our 5 night stay (however I think this is because we booked a private room.) shame there was no air conditioning

Always stay here when I stay in Manly. Great place for a couple of nights and this time I had a balcony and a room to myself.

Nice place, However awoken at 0630 from other guests laughing at carrying on. Other than that I can’t fault it.

Overall, a nice place for young people who like to socialise and have a party. Good breakfast. Very nice that you can use a bike for a couple of hours for free. The problem that I had was with the noise at night. Although the kitchen and the bar were officially closed at 11pm, people continued to socialise/party in their rooms till 4am, as well as slamming doors, so it was very noisy. Also I was next to the bathroom on level 2, thus lots of noise from a hand dryer. Well, it’s an old building so I guess it has very poor noise isolation. However, if you aren’t planning for a good night sleep but rather for a good night party, it’s a place for you!

Great Hostel in Manly. Free surf boards, yoga lessons and continental breakfast. Modern and bright rooms. Staff was on point. Only a short walk to the beach. We would definitely return, it was our favourite hostel in Sydney.

We had a private room which was large and clean. The location is awesome only 5 min easy walk from the ferry and 2 minutes from the beach and shops.

Lucky my daughter lived just around the corner!

hot water is lacking - I had 2 days of luke warm showers and 5 days of ice cold temperatures. People always come down from the upstairs drunk at 11 pm and make tons of noise near the front door and my room waking me up every night. I usually have to come out of my toom and tell them to be quiet, sometimes they listen, sometimes they dont. People also randomly pop up at other times all throughout the night, week days included, and have loud conversatons either as a group or on the phone. I wake up 430 AM monday through friday for work....

After having heard bad reviews and horror stories about bed bugs infestations I was pleasantly surprised. The receptionists were polite and helpful and our private double room was huge and had a TV. The bathroom facilities were okay but I felt the common areas really let the place down, they looked dirty and uninviting, and the aroma throughout the bottom of the building wasnt nice. Overall I would stay again. I think the place could do with some money spending on it though to really bring it up to scratch.

VERY lively place that is only quiet after midnight. We had a private room with TV but the TV remote would not work. Staff apologized and suggested we purchase our own universal remote control. We stored our bicycles in their garage and was told could only access during desk hours 9 AM - 7Pm; then midweek, they offered us our own key for early morning access ... would have appreciated that earlier in our stay. There was a daily cleaner in the building but the floors were sticky daily and there was a sense that the management had just given up on the place.

Made it seem like you get free wifi but only valid for 24 hours (i stayed for three days). No ladders for the bunk beds which meant people would step onto the lower persons bed. Front desk charged me twice and was adamant that it was correct.

Clearly some real pigs stay at this place. I know most are general young but do you really need to block up the toilets.

Rooms werent bad for the price. cockroaches in the kitchen. One girl on staff was really unfriendly but the guy that checked me in was nice. Great location and its cheap.

The worst hostel i have ever been.Great hostels for the same price even closer to the beach and centre. Dont lose your money as I did.
