Definitely needs some updating and a thorough cleaning. Very old furniture and fixtures. Noisy bathroom fan and poor faucet.

Stay was good. Service was very good. Room was good size.
Negative was vanity sink drained slow & fan was very loud.

The room maintenance was terrible with a roof leak that is pealing back the popcorn ceiling. The sink faucet was almost impossible to operate because the handle was tight. The continental breakfast was almost nonexistent.

The room was clean supplied with hygiene products. However, the mattress was not comfortable and I didn’t get rest. The room was not supplied with a coffeemaker and coffee. The free continental breakfast was little to be desired. I felt for the price of the room there should have been more variety.

THe price was too much for only an average stay. The tv remote and offerings were difficult to figure out. The furniture could sure use some updating.

Older motel. Torn carpet, dated decor. But it’s clean and quiet and well located. Room was not serviced nor were linens refreshed during 2-night stay - maybe that’s the new normal…

Older Hotel but in good condition, room was clean and did not have any smells. Beds were okay but not super comfy. In good spot on edge of town, and our room was quiet (we were on the back of the Lodge) even though the main busy road through town runs right in front of Lodge.
Two negatives, hot tub was down the entire time we were there.
Last day the breakfast did not have milk available, and when the front desk was told it took about 45 minuites to get it restocked, I think they had to wait for the grocery store to open up to get more (IE: not very good inventory management).

The carpet at the entry and stairs was dirty and stained, the hairdryer in our room did not work and the grumpy guy at the desk took me to another room to remove the hairdryer in that room and install it in our room. They did not have a spare at the front desk.

Great hotel to stay at in Grand Marais!
We loved that we could walk to town.
Beds are extremely comfortable. Pool, hot tub, and sauna was a real treat after a long hike. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We especially loved Don, the gentleman who checked us in. He was charming! We would definitely stay there again!

It was an older hotel, but it served its purpose for a 1 night stay. Beds were ok but pillows were flat. Room and hotel was clean. Front desk staff was friendly and polite. Continental breakfast didn't have much to offer so we passed it up. Price was a bit on the high side for the age of the hotel.

Horrible Check in. Greeted by an older gentleman with a summer hat was complaining behind desk all along, did not even acknowledge us no hello or thank you. I know we all have our bad days but when you have a customer service job the first impression is so important especially at a hotel

Overall a really nice stay, great location it was walkable for all of downtown Grand Marias, they had everything you needed and the pool and sauna area was a great bonus. Decor is a bit dated but there is upgrades where it matters. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only real complaint I had was there was lots of ants in the building, but they were all dead so it seemed to be a known problem that they we handling which is appreciated.

The bathroom fan sounded like a 747 taken off. The lights above the bed did not work.
The bedroom door was very hard to open and close.
The air conditioner they told us could only run for a short amount of time otherwise it would freeze up and it was in the upper 80s.
There was no housekeeping. The carpet was dirty. The TV stations were VERY limited and we couldn’t get local stations. For the amount of money that we paid we should’ve been able to get the simple things like working lights, air conditioning TV in a light that was quiet and adore that worked

I had booked the place because they said they were pet friendly but on signing in found out they weren’t. Girl at the desk offered to move us to Spruce Lodge next door which was a barely upgraded 1960’s motel which was clean but no air conditioning, windows didn’t close and screens had holes. Faced the highway so noisy and unsafe!

Our usual place to stay. It's pretty good...decent free breakfast. Staff are usually helpful and friendly.

Our room was wonderful and the staff were nice. The continental breakfast could have been better. At least have some bananas. Our sink's faucet was hard to work with. There was no maintenance person available to fix it.

Hot tub was not working. Room had a very strange smell. Hallways had a different strange smell. Bathroom door knob was broken. Water pipes for shower and toilet were very loud. Side entry doors (near parking) are not accessible after 10pm, even with room key. For $250 a night I expected a lot more than what we got.
