We checked in early as the door was wide open and the lights were on. A young man came within a few minutes. He did not speak much English or was not using his words. He had on a back pack. We thought he was someone trying to use our room. I reported him to the management via text. I was informed he was part of the team and was there to restock and vacuum. We said we were good. He did not have a vacuum with him. We put a chair under the door handle that night. Lol

It was a place to sleep, but outside run down. Spider webs in corners by bathroom. Dirty old heat registers, room smelly. Room was clean otherwise. Handy to downtown. Not crazy about the self check in and out.

The best I can say about this hotel it is very close and walking distance to most everything in Grand Marais and we had a great view. It does seem to be a clean hotel although outdated. The room that we were in did not have a closet so we did not have anywhere to hang clothing.

It was as advertised - the self-check-in instructions were clear and accurate. I never saw any hotel staff and did not need to as the room was good.

This was perfect for my purposes. Location ideal, and the room was attractive, clean, comfortable and equipped with a terrific shower. I thought having my door on the street would be awkward but not a bit. Locked myself out early in the morning and someone was by to help in five minutes.

My room was right across fhe atrwet from the harbor. It was clean and cozy...not fancy but plenty fine. Once I parkwd I walked everywhere during my stay. I rrally enjoyed it!

We enjoyed our stay at Harborview. Our room seemed a little outdated, but it had what we needed. The location was perfect.

The property is as described. It is conveniently located right on the water across from the major walking path. Easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops. It’s a no-frills room with a convenient mini-fridge and coffee maker. The self check-in instructions are easy to follow and convenient when arriving. I’d recommend staying here again but avoid weekends when prices surge. No longer the same value for what you’ll pay.

Lock box difficult to use. Torn screen door. Sidewalk outside room covered in seagull droppings. Ceiling fan had no blades. Thin blankets. No ice machine or on site office. Dreary feel.

Clean, but light over sink did not work and only one plug in by sink, and so fixing hair and makeup was difficult due to lack of light. Plugged floor lamp in by it, but then had no place to plug in curling iron so alternated heating it, then unplugged it to plug in light to curl more curls, and repeated

In someways, the pictures are deceiving. This is a very old motel that has had an insufficient facelift. For us this was a last second getaway, so we knew it was a gamble. I would not recommend it.
Also, housecleaning tried to come into our room without knocking, while we were in the room!

We stayed at Harbor Inn on July 4, 2024. The room was clean and modern. We had easy access to all of the amenities of Grand Marais during the celebrations in the city, on foot. There is parking behind the hotel, but we were actually able to get a parking spot on the street right in front of our room, after the parking restrictions were off. We had a front row seat to the firework display for the celebrations. It was easy to access our room for self check in, and check out.
We will definitely come back and stay again!

This is a self check in hotel. There are key boxes on the doors and the access code is the room number. How easy is that for anyone to guess? Apparently they aren't changed between guests either. We really had to wonder if people had accessed the room after the hotel staff had cleaned and we certainly never left anything in the room when we went out to dinner.

I was a little confused how to get into our room someone helped me how working on landscaping. After that the room was very nice and great view of the lake

My room had a lovely bayside view. Street noise was loud at times. Parking was less than ideal. Room looked to be recently renovated. No frills, but I had a good night’s rest. Easy self check in.

like I mentioned up above, this is our second time booking here cause we like the place ..and it is very convenient to go shopping, dinning ,going for walks around the water also easy parking and so much more.

Only reason service and staff get low marks is there is none except the cleanup crew. There also is no deadbolt in the door, but the lock is in decent shape. It's not the prettiest place but you cannot beat the location. 20 seconds walk to the shore, Trading post, Blue Water Cafe and various breweries as well as Java Moose. If you're just looking for a clean place to rest your head in a primo location, it's a good choice.

Close to lake. The website pictures don’t look like the actual room/ facility. Poor water pressure. Looks like the place needs renovation/ remodeling.

Ok, but it had a smell issue. If your allergic to molds or smells in the carpet stay away.

Could not have been in a better location with being able to walk to almost all the bars and restaurants in the area. We stayed in unit 21 which was newly renovated and had a great view of the lake. the next time we are in Grand Marias we know where we are staying!

Property was very clean and comfortable. Only concern I have is there is not deadbolt on the door. Owner did express that due to the age of the frame of the door wouldn't support a deadbolt . We were on street level, so we used an alarm we travel with and chairs.
