The room was absolutely charming and roomy with stunning views. Our room was on the 5th floor and there is no elevator so we got our exercise! It’s in the historic City center and the location was wonderful. We could walk to everything and the medieval town is just lovely and filled with interesting sites, views, wine cellars, and nice restaurants. There was no air conditioning and it was a bit stuffy at night, but we opened the windows for fresh air. The breakfast (included) was excellent. If you arrive by bus, make sure you have transportation lined up at the bus station in advance or have the ability to call a taxi. There is a tunnel with an elevator up to town nearby, but none of that is obvious and it may be difficult with luggage. Also, taxis are very expensive in Montepulciano. Be sure to confirm the price with the driver up front and be sure to have some cash. Valentina greeted us and helped us with some logistics. She was very friendly and helpful, but the reception area is not always staffed so be sure to get check-in instructions in advance. If you don’t mind climbing stairs I highly recommend Palazzo Mosela Alla Porta!

Beautiful hotel very near parking lot and right inside the old town. Convenient to all the sites. Remodeled nicely but with old world charm. Hotel staff were wonderful. Recommend to stay here highly!

Great experience

Palazzo Mosela Alla Porta was a lovely, cosy accommodation for my stay in Montepulciano. The room was delightful, characterful, comfortable, and within walking distance of everything in Montepulciano. Being at the entrance to the town it’s easy to find. But the outstanding element is the service. Valentina and the staff were quick to engage with me via WhatsApp and went to great lengths to make sure I had a great experience. Valentina was wonderfully friendly and helped reserve great restaurants and suggested wonderful cellars to visit. The level of support and hospitality here makes this accommodation really outstanding.

Everything was brilliant!

It was very difficult to find. It would’ve been helpful to have instructions on the parking situation. The room smells very strongly of a heavy perfume. It was almost unbearable. Was very cold the heater did not work, and there was nobody to help. We had somebody from a nearby restaurant actually follow us to the hotel room to try to figure out the heater, unsuccessfully. Staff is only there for short period in the morning. Ludo when he was, there was friendly and helpful

Our room had a nice little balcony with a great view of the Tuscan hillside. Although this hotel is inside the walled city parking is OK just outside the wall and a short walk. Most of the time there are no office staff here. So your keys may be left in an envelope at reception.

2 couples had rooms 3 & 4. We stayed in Oct from Tues-Friday. This Hotel is convenient, Ludo was responsive, the room is large, had good air conditioning and shower had great pressure. This hotel is affiliated with a couple restaurants and enotecas. The good news is that they were amazing. The Porto di Bacco enoteca is directly across the street and has amazing wine expert. They are also a restaurant. We are at Antica di Trattoria Marzocco which was also delish. (Need reservations) the free breakfast is up the street at Pilazzo Avignonesi. They open before 8 and the service is exceptional. Selection of pastries was extensive If I had to pick this hotel apart it will be because 1) the mattress pad is vinyl which made it hotter than necessary and 2) the hairdryer for long hair is small and cheap. A few $’s from the owners could solve these issues easily. These is no elevator. But the town itself doesn’t either. The hotel is on the street. We are heavy sleepers so the nighttime dinner crowd did not bother us. I had no problem getting to sleep. Room 4 has a nice sitting area and if you open the windows you’ll get a cross breeze. Overall, this place was inexpensive and perfect for us.

The view from the balcony was out of this world. Fabulous host and extremely helpful. Superb restaurant .

Beautiful rooms and scenery

Check in and check out poor. No orientation. Confused because we thought we were above or attached to winery. When we found winery ourselves, we were treated poorly, not offered tastings. No tables available. Not given info on where to go to breakfast, none of other guests were either. We were all looking for “envelope” with vouchers which weren’t there. We all wandered around, finally cleaning lady let us know where to go but venue wanted vouchers. Worst was we were told we needed to book taxi day ahead to ensure service, and she would book for us. Turns out it wasnt booked but she said she could get a taxi half hour before our train was leaving. Must have been a friend not taxi, passed a taxi stand on way with plenty of taxis, her “friend” charged us $25 Euro’s to go 4kilometers. Loved the location and room. Service poor or non existent.

The hotel has a great location however we had a bad experience getting to the hotel and there wasn’t anyone there to greet us. We had to look in automated emails from the hotel for instructions telling us that the girl that works there was at a different restaurant etc etc I wish they at least had a note at the hotel letting guests know about that I’m English because it is a very touristic area and we do not speak Italian. They give you a coupon for breakfast at some other restaurant that we could t use because they weren’t opened yet. Besides that the location si great and we were lucky enough to find parking about two blocks from the hotel for 10€ x day

Quaint room, in a 13th century building, with a magnificent view of the Tuscan landscape on one side, and the main street of medieval Montepulciano on the other..

Really average stay, considering the price tag! Great location and view, but all else lacking. Small room, no bedside tables at all - nowhere to place water/phone etc next to the bed. Nowhere to put suitcase in the bedroom except on the floor. Only one place to plug in phone charger, near the door, sharing the fridge powerpoint. No surface around the bathroom vanity. No iron. "Breakfast included" was quite a joke... a voucher for the cafeteria around the corner, with very little ambience and no mobile reception. The voucher included a croissant (selling at €1.10) with one coffee and one small bottled fruit juice. No water included. Really below expectations when you pay €160 per night 'including breakfast'! The website pic of coffee with a view is certainly not the breakfast room as there isn't one on the property. Reception lady was very helpful (in approving a refund for the second night) but reception was mostly unmanned and hard to reach... I saw other guests often waiting for assistance as well, until someone showed up.

There is no hot water for hole day

I was in room 6 on the top floor, which was a climb, but was rewarded with perhaps the most beautiful view ever - the valley, the vinyards - it was worth the climb.

Location location location, oh and great value for a quality unique experience.

Location is great, wonderful view and just inside the arch as you enter this beautiful town. However, there are many steep and narrow steps to get to rooms and no elevator. And the breakfast that comes with the room is at a restaurant half a mile or so away _ not at the hotel. No coffee available in the room or at the hotel, not even instant coffee. These negatives would have made me rethink staying here.

Ideal location to visit a remarkable city. Hotel is just inside the city wall at a main entry. Parking is difficult to find. Try the pay lot by the tourist info building. Parking between white lines is free. Our room was on the third floor with no elevator. The bed was comfortable but other furniture is dated. Modern washroom. Room 3 has creaky wood steps up into the washroom. Service was friendly for both checkin and room cleaning. There are a multitude of fabulous restaurants, shops, wine bars, etc. within a minute’s walk. We would definitely come back!

Fabulous location and lovely accommodation. Francesca was amazing and very helpful with all the booking and local arrangements. A step out the door to restaurants, shops and wine bars. Excellent and surely will return.
