The staffs are accommodating and nice. Cleanliness and organization inside the room is good and outside as well. We are so glad we chose this hotel because it is close and walking distance the shopping stores and others. We surely recommend this hotel to others and planning to come back again.

Our stay was adequate - upon arrival we found no accommodation for handicap - so 2 of our family were challenged to navigate a very difficult set of stairs. It was limiting on our stay because we could not return to room in between activities due to this. Our handicap and senior family members had to remain downstairs because of difficulty climbing and no other access for them to get to room. The breakfast provided was rolls and orange juice. We didn't even have hot water for tea. I would not consider this even a continental breakfast as advertised. The room was clean and staff were courteous so the stay was adequate. My disappointment was due to the handicap limitation and sub standard breakfast provided.

The bathroom door creaks a lot, everything looks very old, they need to remodel the bed was very uncomfortable, honestly I do not recommend it, I would not return

It’s a great location on the main st in Avalon - nothing fancy - but clean and safe. You do have to climb stairs to get to it.

We stayed 3 nights in an oceanfront king for my wife's birthday celebration. Great place! Room was nice, clean, and comfortable. It is a little on the smaller side, but it is a vintage venue and they make good use of the space. Well laid out for a couple. Staff was friendly and helpful. View was amazing, looking out over the water and harbor. This is right in the middle of everything, so the sounds of music and people were pretty constant from around 9:00 AM until 10:00 or 11:00 at night. We didn't actually mind it, though. The sound of the waves on the shore could also be heard above the rest of the revelry, so the ambiance was still beautiful. And, once the din of people tapered off at night, all that was left was the repeating waves throughout the night. Very relaxing. We would definitely go back again.

The property is older but well kept. Staff was friendly and helpful. I am a senior and don’t walk well. It was great having the ocean right out the front door. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The room we stayed in 213 had a weird mildew smell and it was right by the vending and ice machines, which made noise all night. It was also annoying that we had to check out an iron and ironing board by leaving our ID. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless other rooms are more spaces and less noisy. Also, the wifi didn’t work.

Rooms slightly outdated and small but the ocean view room more than makes up for it. Right on the water, in amongst the hustle and location is terrific.

The best part of Hotel MacRae is the location. It’s right in the center of town. All of the employees were really nice and helpful. It is great to be able to get coffee right when you get up, right outside your room with the free breakfast. The luggage storage is an awesome perk that many other hotels don’t offer. I would recommend the hotel for a short trip. There are a lot of stairs so that might be an issue if you have more luggage. We stayed one night and it was perfect for us.

We had a great time staying at the Hotel Mac Rae!!! Nothing fancy, and the walls a a little thin, but the location is unbeatable. Right off the path from all of the shops, beach, and restaurants. We will definitely be coming back next time we go to Catalina Island

The room had a funky smell and the sink dripped water all night. Super thin walls allowed you to hear people moaning next door. Lady at check in was nice, but when I can back to use the ice machine and fill up a grocery bag, she told me to save ice for the other people. This lady was rude. Next time I am staying at Catalina, I will be sure to choose another option than dirty hotel Mac Rae!

Will never return to this hotel. Long hair lady front desk agent is rude and unprofessional. She told us we can go find another hotel if we do not like it. The breakfast included means coffee and pastries.

Location Location Location.......this hotel was so convenient being ocean front, we kept going in and out of our room during our stay so it literally saved us so much time and money for transportation. Will definitely be staying here my next visit.
