This was thw cutest hotel we have ever stayed at. The front desk girl amazing and told us about some cool scenic routes to take when we saw Rushmore. Absolutely would go back.

This experience was something I was looking for. I wanted to know what it would be like to lodge in an environment that my late parents would have experienced in the late 1940s & early 1950s. This is the real deal. Very well maintained without losing the rustic feel. Staff Excellent. Please Note: interested travelers - spend a little more on a larger cabin area. You will not regret it. This place is adorable.

Checkin and checkout were very easy. The property is lovely, quiet, and close to beautiful Custer State Park. The Continental breakfast options are provided in the room.

Quaint separate cottages with parking right in front of each cottage. Reasonable price and the hostess was very friendly and accommodating.

This Motel was good for what it is-a place to spend the night. The owner was great and flexible. My only concern as a motorcycle rider in a group was the gravel parking lot and not having a pool to come cool down in after a long ride but that was known ahead of time and still worth it.

Outside Chalet very nice. inside older looking and basic. kitchen large and bed very comfortable. bathroom is very small. very small.

Check-in staff was very friendly and efficient. The chalets are adorable. Some areas for improvement would be an in-room microwave and the carpet squares were coming off and the room could use an air purifier or deodorizer. However, it was a nice stay and those issues didn’t detract from overall experience.

It was very small. The picture showed several cabins but it didn't mention that each small cabin was two units, one in the front and one in the back, which made each room very small.

really cute room, kitchenette was fun but we didn't use it except for water bottles put in the freezer, breakfast items were great, only thing was the bathroom was a little small but bed was comfortable and the person in the office was very friendly and helpful

Room had terrible smell, possibly cleaning products, not sure. It gave me a headache and made me nauseous. Small room, small refrigerator, no freezer. Just couldn’t stay in room with the smell for 4 days. Wouldn’t recommend.

We would definitely stay again! Easy check in and check out, friendly staff and clean rooms, great location. The only upgrade I would suggest is that the room we were in the door was so tight in the frame it's quite loud to open and close, and the bathroom door handle was so loose it's hard to get the bathroom door to stay closed.

Cute, classic roadside motel. Neighbors were smoking outside and our A/C definitely pulled it in, which wasn't ideal. We had 2 double beds but only 1 chair and no table, so that was inconvenient. Otherwise, things were fine

This was not a great room but it was a great experience. The room was very small but the "cabins" were built in the 1930's and the experience took me back in time.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is cute and in a beautiful location. The room I stayed in was small and very hard to fit two travelers, with two dogs.

This was one of the worst places we’ve ever stayed. The smell of urine from the bathroom stunk up bedrooms. Has some definite plumbing issues. The water pressure from shower was pathetic. It was a nasty place. No idea how it got any good reviews.

Lovely little spot, comfortable beds, nice open courtyard and a green space behind cottages. The included breakfast in the room was a bonus. Shopping nice and close and a great way to stretch your legs after driving. Several options for food within easy walking distance.

The Chalet Motel is a charmer. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. They assisted with everything we needed. We stayed several nights and appreciated that we could walk to almost everything in Custer. It is also one block from the Mickelson Trail which made biking very easy. Cottages are cute and quiet and have a refrigerator and microwave. Having breakfast available made an easy start to the day. Can't wait to return.

Nice place to stop for a night. We were in room 15, its very small, bathroom is tight. Your butt sticks out the bathroom door while brushing your teeth. Yes I would stay again no musty smells even though it’s an older property. Very clean. Great people and you can actually walk to town and there’s plenty to do and see there, just know it’s basically a small bedroom with a 3 1/2 by 10 bathroom with the stand up shower taking up about 4 feet of the length.
