The check in, the staff, the premises were all amazing. I wish I stayed here for the entire trip but everyone suggested that I split the trip between the cliffs and the beach. Truth be told, when I booked, they only had one night available. It was worth it. My god what a beautiful place! The views, the food and the staff. I experienced some homophobia in Negril but not at Tensing Pen. So thank you! I will definitely be returning!

We typically stay on the beach when we visit Jamaica but I decided to try something new so we stayed West End side of Negril instead of 7 mile beach. It was my husband birthday celebration and we were NOT disappointed. We loved it!! The views were out of this world spectacular. The grounds were quiet and tranquil and full of trees and flowers. Our ocean view room was breathtaking. We watched the sunset from our balcony. We had trees surrounding our balcony so it felt like we were on a private island. Some additional details beds were super comfortable I personally hated the pillows because they were soft instead of firm. There was no TV in the room but we didn’t care. We wanted to relax. Bathroom was very spacious but water pressure not so great. My only complaint is against the food. I wasn’t impressed and to be fair my husband is a chef so my palette and standard is VERY high. I thought food was a bit overcooked for my personal taste. Otherwise staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely return. Bonus this location is walking distance to the famous Rick’s Cafe.

An absolutely amazing property with attentive caring staff. This is my second trip to Negril and my first visit at this property and it will be where I return in the future. You are made to feel like family. You are close enough to 7-mile beach to get there via a short taxi ride, can walk to Rick's, and yet it feels isolated, peaceful, and quiet. Just perfect.

we stayed here 3 days and left for our other resort...only to return 3 more times to tensing Pen to enjoy the property. They were so accomodating. This place has an amazing feel for it and never dissapointed us.

AMAZING! You can't beat the natural beauty of these cliffs! Stay right on the water in a private bungalow among the trees and listen to the waves crashing into the cliffs, lulling you into sleep. Safely jump from these cliffs into crystal clear, warm Caribbean waters and snorkel with beautiful tropical fish. You're gonna love this unique boutique hotel that gives you unobstructed west-facing views of the sunset. Romantic, quiet, secluded, paradise.

What can I say about this awesome hotel that other reviews haven't already said? Incredible service all around. Special thanks to Niney for the nature walk/tour and all of the great tips he gave us about native vegetation whenever we saw him. Great food at the on-site restaurant. Great service from the bar. Impeccable grounds. We stayed in the lowest priced garden view room which was awesome but wasn't very private as there was a walk-way right in front and we had to leave the shades/slats on the windows closed at all times. I highly suggest spending the extra $25 or so a night for an upgrade garden room which also have larger balconies and provide a bit more privacy. There are a few restaraunt options within walking distance including the famous Rick's Cafe. If you want a beach experience, it's a cab ride away to get to the beach for more restaraunt and shopping options. I'd suggest that if you have an extended vacation planned, spend 2-3 nights at a place on the 7 mile beach and wrap up with a week at Tensing Pen. Be aware that there are two large "house dogs", Tensing and Beezy, that roam the hotel freely but they are gentle and want to be everyone's friend. I just mention in case there are folks afraid of dogs that should be aware. We will definitely be back!

The staff is exceptionally solicitous and welcoming. The grounds are idyllic and even the resident canines (Tensing and Beezy), two Rhodesian Ridgebacks are super friendly. I can't recommend this resort highly enough. My second time there, but not my last.

Simply beautiful! Pictures do not do it justice. I know views are amazing, but take the cheaper route and get A/C. In late September, it was still very hot.

This is our 2nd time coming to Tensing Pen and we are already planning to come back next year and stay longer!! At Tensing Pen you feel like family. The views are spectacular the rooms are gorgeous the food is amazing and the staff are warm and friendly. We love Tensing Pen and can’t wait to see you next year! wish we could give you more then 5 stars!!!

Tensing Penn is a perfect resort for total relaxation. Stunning setting and beautiful accommodations.

Food was best along with the clear water. Outside shower was a surprise. Cleanliness and service were top notch. Would consider coming back.

The room you get makes a big difference so know where you will be located. Some are almost streetside. Some are more quaint with porches and thatch roofing. The food is not good in my own personal opinion. The cliffs are cool but there is no sand anywhere which I missed. The dog on the property is low key but sits on all the chairs which I didn't like. The people working at the hotel know nothing about the hotel itself. They don't know why it is named what it is nor can they answer even general questions about it. Whatever you do, leave the hotel an browse the local area and no matter how long the drive, go see the other sights that you think would be fun to see. Most sight seeing places are 2-3 hour drives from this hotel.

We stayed in the South Pillar, which was a stand alone house with an outdoor shower on the bottom and the room with a bathroom and balcony on the second story. The view went straight out to the ocean, over a foot-bridge where you could jump into the water. The privacy was absolutely perfect and waking up to the sound of the ocean could not be beat. The view from the balcony made for a phenomenal sunset. It was so nice to walk into the resort and be handed a welcome drink and upon entering the room, finding rose petals on the bed and complimentary waters and Red Stripes in the fridge. The staff was wonderful, notably the chefs in the restaurant. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and breakfast with them, that were obviously made with great care.

This is my second time staying at this hotel! Absolutely love it! The views are amazing. The staff is super nice and accommodating. All of the staff, from front desk to house keeping, are extremely friendly and make you their priority. The location is great. Only a few minutes walk from Rick's Café and several restaurants. Hotel provides free transportation to the nearby beach. Perfect place for a relaxing and rejuvenating time.

I was happy to get there the grounds was oh so beautiful. The front desk clerk was nice. I checked in and was showed to my room. When I got there I saw a queen size bed and I had asked for a king. I was told he would check but he never returned. I went to the restaurant for dinner . When I got there I ask the waiter if I should wait to be seated and his reply was I CANT PICK YOU UP. I however ignored his insult and tried to move on. As I sat down to eat I notice that there were 2 large dogs next to my table. I explain that I wish to not have them next to me. I was bitten by a dog before I was told the belong to the owner that was sitting one table. A few minutes later one of the dog was standing at my table. I ask for a box to go and explain how disappointed I was but no one felt the need to say sorry. I ate in my room. The next morning wasn't much better. I have however learned that the staff are terrified of the owner but I still don't think that excuse bad service . I saw the owner walking by my room with her dog giving my a stare down that would kill. I checked out a day early felling sad because I want to bring my partner back to show him how beautiful this place is . They all need better training.

We had a great stay at Tensing. We stayed at south house 2. The ground were beautiful and I liked that it was smaller and more intimate. The room was comfortable and had a great view. I would highly recommend this hotel!

One of the finest places I've ever stayed. Our room overlooked the ocean, falling asleep to the waves was magical.

The Tensing Pen was by far the best hotel we stayed at in Jamaica at that price range. It is absolutely beautiful, quiet and friendly. We loved our stay and would always go back. The only draw back why I would not give it a full 5 stars was that some staff was not really motivated or attentive (while the others were outstanding) and that they had 3 huge dogs which we're begging for food during each lunch and dinner. I love dogs, but I think they have nothing to do in a nice restaurant or on a sunbed which I am using next time. Overall still a 4.8 rating from my Side, especially for the amazing food (which is fairly priced compared to the rest of Jamaica).

This is a more rustic hotel like no A/C in the South Pillar and a downstairs outdoor shower. If this bothers you I would book another room we also saw a few cockroaches since it's basically almost luxury camping. But if you don't mind that and want the peaceful relaxation then this is the place for you. Other rooms are much cheaper so you pay strictly for the Ocean View on your balcony which is to die for! The workers are not as nice as the other all inclusive we stayed at earlier in the week. These workers seem to just be doing the job as the other workers from the all inclusive really took pride in their work.

Everywhere you look at Tensing Pen is spectacular. The views take your breath away. The food was delicious. And for a change of pace Ahhbyies across the street has really fantastic burgers. I don't recommend this hotel for little ones, as there are no barriers to keep them from falling into in some places very dangerous water. This hotel is like a piece of heaven, it forces you to slow down and remember what life is all about.

the concept as private hotel in the cliff, most staff and the restaurant- very good. but we had problems with our room, it had no air conditioning and no hot water in the shower. We reported this problem from day one and never solved it. But honestly.... my husband and I had a good time.
