A perfectly designed space in busy Rome! Once inside, it’s easy to forget that you are still in the heart of Trastevere. The staff take great care to make sure your needs are met from breakfast & coffee in the morning and a fabulous happy hour in the evening. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We stayed in a Junior Suite with 2 bedrooms- plenty of space for the 4 of us. The next time we are in Rome, we will definitely be staying here again!

We had such a wonderful stay at Hotel Santa Maria. Everyone was so friendly and the breakfast and cappuccinos were lovely. The rooms were lovely and clean too

Hotel Santa Maria exceeded my expectations. The location is superb - so fun to be in the liveliness of Trastevere with so many bars, restaurants, shopping - it's an absolute vibe. Even with all the liveliness, the grounds of the hotel are serene and quiet. As soon as you walk into the gate, it is as if you're transferred to a secret garden of relaxation. You will also feel safe with the 24hour reception office open to let you into the gate. The walk across the river to the main attractions is simple and feels safe, you can make it to the Pantheon in about 10-15mins. The staff here is really what takes this location to the next level. So welcoming, accommodating, booked reservations for my husband and I. I cannot say enough about the staff. The Happy Hour is great. I didn't think we would attend, but we ended up making it back to the hotel everyday after touring to get some peace and quiet before an eventful night life. Thank you Hotel Santa Maria - we will be back!

Our room was called a “suite” but it was actually an attic. I’m only 4.11” and I hit my head getting into bed.

The hotel was perfect and stunning! A real gem in a very busy part of Rome! You could sit in the courtyard 30 metres from the huddle and bustle and not hear a thing! But walk out through the vine lined private road and be in the heart of things! Staff were absolutely fantastic and I would only ever book at this hotel in Rome, with question fantastic!

From the first moment of arriving and being greeted by the staff. We were shown to our room and they made us feel very at home. The staff serving breakfast are super friendly and like to have fun. They make great coffee drinks to order. Conveniently located in the Trastevere area it 's a hidden gem.

Hotel Santa Maria is the PERFECT place to stay while in Rome. You are away from the craziness of all the people visiting Rome. The location is tucked away on a side street in Trastevere. When you walk through their gate, you are taken into the serene atmosphere of this well taken care of hotel. Service and staff were spot on. You will have the BEST Aperol Spritz at their daily Happy Hour. Will definitely be going back on my next visit to Rome.

Loved everything about the resort.

This was my second stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. The location, Trastevere, is perfect. My wife and I are 65 and had no trouble walking to the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colosseum, and other areas we wanted to visit. The neighborhood restaurants (many) are excellent, and attract more Romans than tourists--particularly on weekends. Takeaway food is close and excellent. Trastevere feels more like a small Italian town than a part of a big city. The area around the hotel is somewhat of a party zone for younger people, but noise is not a problem because the hotel is off the street and behind locked gates. The courtyard surrounded by the hotel rooms is shaded by a grove of productive orange trees, and we had breakfast there each morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful (directions, taxis, and general advice). The rooms are not fancy, but are nice. Overall, a classy place for the moderate price. I would recommend the hotel to anyone, and think it would be particularly nice for children (safe area to play away from traffic and great breakfast).

This hotel was just amazing. The location is very good in the centre of Trasteverre. The staff from the front desk, to the breakfast staff and the Happy Hour staff were all amazing. Breakfast was included and had a great variety of items. The first night we had great Aperol and Limoncello Spritz's. The rooms themselves are pretty basic but you really don't spend much time in them. The courtyard was shaded and cooling. We had wonderful and very quiet sleeps. Would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed our stay. Loved the breakfast, happy hour and friendliest staff. Reception guys were always so helpful with our travel plans and booking reservations for dinner and even with our train tickets. Wonderful place to stay ,,, and work. It really shows.

This is a beautiful special property in the fast pace Rome area. 3-star Hotel but felt and performed better like 4-stars. Exceptional staff and people! Will return.

We loved the fact that the hotel is secure, and has some really nice shared spaces - namely, the beautiful courtyard and air-conditioned lounge and bar areas.

Our stay at Hotel Santa Maria could not have been better!! The staff were so friendly and helpful--made us feel very welcome and at home. The front desk staff were fantastic--I wish I would have gotten their names. The cafe staff--Norman, Marvin and Kevin were incredible! The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean, reasonable size, and the shower is great. The breakfast is excellent. There are many wonderful restaurants and gelato places within few minutes walk. Within 30-35 min walk to the colosseum, Vatican and the Spanish square. We really enjoyed the stay. The wifi signal is a bit weak inside the room. So if you want to stream any video, could be an issue, The Trastevere area is vibrant, lots of graffiti but very safe. We really like the area.

What a lovely hotel! Clean, beautiful and comfortable. All amenities are thoughtfully placed: outlets, wall hooks, towel racks. Breakfast was super- scrambled eggs, prosciutto, pastries, coffees-served in a courtyard with orange trees. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. It was similar to a bed and breakfast experience with exceptional staff and a charming setting.

Actually the property looked very interesting, historic, with a charming garden and very helpful staff (at least Adriano, the receptionist, who was the only person I interacted with). Unfortunately, Expedia sent me a reservation verification but when I arrived, there was no reservation and no possibility for a room of any sort at the hotel. The Santa Maria manager said that they had informed Expedia that they were fully booked, but Expedia gave me a reservation anyway. I lost two or three hours of time as the receptionist and I called a dozen places until we found a hotel that had a vacancy at a similar price. Keeping in mind that the last 500 meters from the taxi drop-off point to the hotel consisted of a cobblestone pedestrian walkway that I had to carry luggage by myself through, I was extremely disappointed and unhappy with Expedia's providing me with a bogus reservation. But, the hotel looked very appealing.

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. The grounds were beautiful. The staff really makes your stay great. They are all so friendly. The breakfast was awesome and evening drinks were fabulous. Thanks to Armando, Gennaro, Kevin, and all the other staff members that made our stay so wonderful.
