A bit dated and tatty in places and breakfast is very basic. But a very comfy bed with clean crisp sheets and towels. Good nights sleep at the back of the property on the 2nd floor. Guy who checked us in was friendly and helpful. Overall it isn’t plush but great location and things that matter are there.

We arrived at Greyfriars Lodge and was met by Mr Sanjeewa who was polite and friendly. During our stay, he responded to our request for shower gels , towels among other things quickly. Breakfast was continental and Sanjeewa was was attentive.
Location is convenient and near to town centre. Will come back to stay at this hotel again if we visit Canterbury again. LIM & Family.
4.0
The host Sanjeewa was really sweet and made sure our stay was very comfortable, the bedding and towels were clean and the rooms tidy, the only negative was the smell of damp in the bathroom when you opened the shower door but the water was very hot and I had a lovely shower.

Not so good the toilet wasn’t working I had to go to McDonald’s in the city centre to use their facilities
Bathroom was very tired looking and having bad knees no lift

I arrived in the dark and in the rain. The location was difficult to find.
Sanjeewa provided excellent service for what was set up for breakfast.

I love the way sanjeewa welcome me, he is such a nice guy, very gentle and respectful. His welcome attracted me to love the lodge, I had to apply for another night but unfortunately there was no space again.

Location was perfect! The hotel was slightly outdated and could do with some upgrading, the shower has no attachment, breakfast was basic but plentiful, the room itself could have done with modernising however it was large and the bed was comfortable. Manager was lovely very accommodating looking after luggage until we was ready to go home. Ideal if your looking for something affordable as a base to explore from.
5.0
The best thing about this visit was the outstanding service of Mr Sanjeewa. His willingness to go above and beyond what was expected of him was surprising and refreshing. Another great plus of this lodge is its location. It is a bit outdated and in need of some small repairs but totally worth the money because it's clean, good bedsheets and towels, spacious, and offers a good car park deal. We were very happy with our stay. Thank you Sanjeewa for making it so pleasant.

Although the property is a little old and tired, it was great for an overnight stay. Manager was lovely and breakfast; continental style and plentiful. Really close to Cathedral and other local attractions.
For those with mobility issues there were a couple of steep staircases to climb to get to upper floor rooms.
Fans were provided, but rooms were still stuffy, not too much of a problem if you like to be warm like me - it was a warm August night.
No on-site parking, you park in a public car park about 8 mins away and it costs £15 via the hotel for 24 hours. Make sure that you keep receipt for this.
Council empty bins at 6:30am on Monday morning. This is not a hotel issue, just to let light sleepers know, it happens all over the city.
Would go back in the future if in the area.

This hotel is located superbly close to the inner city of Canterbury. You are literally a one minute walk away from the pedestrian zone. It is a little bit hard to find, but the staff is nice. The only problem is that there are no (free) parking spaces around. We were contacted a few days via e-mail before our stay by the hotel, which can provide you with a discount for one of the pay-parking lots.

This is an old building but has been made the best of & was v clean. Set in the centre of Canterbury within a stone's throw of the main areas. There are two main drawbacks. 1 There is no car parking at all as it is set in a no through narrow street. Car parking is offered & they will book it for you.It is charged per 24hrs & is a 10min walk away. The other is that breakfast is only Continental although nicely set out.

Extractor fan in the shower not clean neither was the skirting and shower surround .The mattress was faded frayed and stained .God knows how long the coffee sachets had been there as they were rock hard . Only one yoghurt left at breakfast

The worst hotel Greyfriars ever stayed in

The staff was VERY kind & helpful. Dark, narrow stairs & very small room. Fridge in room, uncomfortable bed, no A/C but given fan. Had to have window open, woken up by sun rising at 4:20am and garbage man emptying glass at 5:15am. No hand towel or washcloth in bathroom. No shampoo only shower get that could be used on hair. Breakfast provided & appreciated. Staff worried we didn't eat enough, very kind. Offered to hold our luggage. Won't stay again.

Sanjeev was kind, present and available. While the room was clean, the mattresses were not comfortable. Be mindful of packing small and not taking full suitcases up 3 flights of winding stairs. Otherwise a clean place to stay in Canterbury.

Absolutely terrible, we didn't stay the night. The hotel had more creaks than a haunted house.
The smell of old was a hell no, it could of been death... we couldn't be sure.
We didn't hang around for too long before ordering a stay at the Premier Inn a little further up the road.
There was a deep dark red/brown colour on the net curtains, we were 100% that was blood. The toilet was small and cramped, we believe people missed the toilet and aimed for the floor as the stench was unbearable.
Even to stay 10 minutes was unbelievable, my partner even sprayed her perfume around the room but the bad odour was over powering the stench.
We had to make up an excuse just to leave the hotel.
I paid for the death room for about £70, non refundable.... they can use that money for the demolition needed.
I paid £119 for Premier Inn and that included all you can eat breakfast, a no brainer.
Stay away from this poor b&b, not worth your hard earned cash.
3 Stars?? Were they on their last breath???

Our family of four had sufficient beds The location is mid-town. The continental breakfast was ample. And Mr Sanjeewa was exceptionally kind and helpful.

For the price, it’s a solid and affordable option in Canterbury.

Cheap and cheerful accommodation in the centre of Canterbury

Perfect location for the Marlow theatre.
Website said noise maybe an issue due to central location but we had no problems on a busy Saturday night.

We were in Canterbury on business and spent very little time at the hotel. Continental breakfast was fine, the room was fine, but the bathroom very tight. Overall, had a good time. Friendly staff and excellent access to the city. Very close to the theatre and Cathedral.
4.0
It may not be luxury but for a night or two you could do much worse.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Amazing location just off the Main Street. A few mins walk to all the shops and bars and a stones throw from the cathedral. Very quiet at night (apart from a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms as walls not the thickest).
Very small but functional en-suite and the shower had as much power as a dribbly baby. Plentiful hot water tho which is good.
TV, mini fridge and kettle on the room along with a tower fan.
Bed is comfy enough but an extra pillow would have been nice.
Breakfast is hams and cheeses. Bread and crumpets for the toaster. Butter, jams and various spreads are available.
Fruit and yoghurts plus various cereals. Fruit juices, tea and coffee too. All perfectly agreeable.
Use them for parking and you get a cheap rate at a nearby carpark, about 5 mins stroll from the hotel.
Would we return? probably.

Charming place, with a very friendly and helpful Innkeeper. Perfectly located close to the Cathedral and the amazing centre of Canterbury.

Clean place, good location, helpful staff

Loved the room, the family room, very cozy and perfect for what we needed. Could have been a little cleaner, dusting. Also advertised toiletries and hairdryer. There was not any, we had traveled without, so we had to purchase. Also, mentions desk/laptop space in family room, there is not. The king bed is very tilted, not really comfortable. The bathroom does need some work but was clean and functional. Pictures should be updated online. I would definitely stay again, but not for longer than a couple of nights. Extremely convenient to Canterbury.

Dried stained saliva on the walls, dirty bathroom.

My stay was good, welcoming and was warmful.

location convenient to cathedral, but property so old needs a major renovation: plumbing esp.
4.0
Parking lot was supposed to be accessible but nothing was mentioned in the announcement nor through any sorts of pre-arrival communication. We got stuck with our car into a city car park that was not cheap without having any options available.
2.0
Not great. Cheap and cheerful is one thing.. but cheap and dirty isnt acceptable. The carpets are filthy, the bin in the room had even been emptied from the previsou guests. Not great at all.

Friendly, helpful & efficient staff.

The hotel is definitely convenient; it was a ten minute walk from the station and is located RIGHT in the centre of the old town. The staff were pleasant and welcoming.
The breakfast was simple (toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt). The first morning the dining room was busy; the fruit and yogurt disappeared quickly and weren’t replenished. The second morning was quieter and staff had time to refill things.
The rooms were clean, but shabby. Wine stains on the curtains, holes in the wall and broken hooks in the bathroom. There wasn’t anywhere to put personal items in the bathroom. A small table or shelf could have served that purpose.
The stairs in this property are VERY narrow. It was difficult to go up them with even a small suitcase. Larger suitcases would have been a problem,
In summary, this property is just okay. Clean and welcoming but presentation needs work.

Price/Quality not in balance.
Very outdated place, old, poorly maintained, loose and worn out carpets on the stairs that will lead to dangerous situations. In case of fire one will be trapped.........
No-effort-breakfast. All prefab stuff, not even a boiled egg or fresh coffee.
Does certainly not meet minumum standards

I don’t suggest anyone to consider the place to stay. The location is very good, but the staffs are not friendly and helpful at all. It is cheap but the basic services are missing, not to mention the breakfast has nothing to offer!
10.0
It was a lovely old building and quite basic in terms of amenities but the best value for money if you want to stay in the city centre and have shops and pubs immediately around in Canterbury. Would definitely stay again when on a budget!
3.0
At £50-60 this would have been fine but at a little over £100 for one night, I expected better.
Strange smell in room coming from bathroom, dirty walls and overall didn't seem very well kept.
2.0
I would not stay again. The room was not as advertised. Next to the front door which was slammed often during the night. Ground floor room with outdated scrap furniture. Noise from deliveries in the street at 04:00. Room was very hot and no ability to turn off heating as controls removed. Mould in the bathroom.
This is less of a hotel and more a hostel. Not worth over £50 a night. I suggest a max of £20 would be more appropriate. Feedback given to staff at the property who didn't care.

The shower drainage was stuck, bath water was soaking up above my feet, it was very disgusting. The shower tap was difficult to use and had to use brutal force to turn on. I finally asked my wife to endure not to take bath on that night.
carpet old and dirty. stairs very steep and narrow, room.
door key is kind of toy that all rooms can use the sane key. the room door was difficult to shut and open, had to kick open and pull hardly to lock.
the only reception man answered door very late after we rung the bell outside the hotel, i was asked to pay £15 in cash immediately to park the car but it took me 10minutes to walk from the hotel. but once I reached the carpark,. i saw that the parking payment machine didnt cost so much actually.
this stay was actually a scam, what a horrible experience with so much complaints from my wife
