Excellent stay! My go to in Santa Monica

Fantastic view of ocean and Santa Monica pier. Close to Venice and Malibu.

Great environment

The parking situation is less than ideal, but that's understandable. Main problem is that although there is someone on staff downstairs, the number for the hotel goes to a different country. There is no phone in the room. You can only enter your code into the door and you don't receive a code. The checkout time that they have on file is different than what expedia says, so you get locked out of your room.

The Beacon by Sonder was an amazing place to stay! Right in the beach in Santa Monica and walking distance from the pier. The building is a restored art deco building and is so full of character. The room was small but had excellent amenities, including an amazing soaking tub. Loved the pool and restaurant! Because it’s an old building, it has some quirks. The walls were a bit thin and there water temperature had a mind of its own. Otherwise an excellent stay. So many good restaurants and shops are in walking distance. It’s an amazing spot to leave the car in valet for a weekend and staycation.

Actually loved the property and the amenities except for the level of music and constancy of the music. Was sort-of-a "club thump all night Saturday, all day Sunday by the pool and distracted and detracted from the experience.

Staff members were amazing. Lack of storage spaces, small bedrooms, and weird water system. It took us a while to figure out why when we turn cold water it is hot. There should be some guidance, I never saw this type of water system before

The hotel was conveniently located in front of the beach and within walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. It's an older hotel that has added upgrades. However, the hot water situation is out of control. There is too Much HOT HOT water. The shower control valve allows scolding hot water and it's hard to cool the water down to take a shower. The hot and cold water faucet in the kitchenette is back wards so when you turn on the cold water valve you get hot hot water and vice versa. Hard to get used to when on vacation for only a couple of days. There is no maid service and it seems everytime something is needed, I had to go onto the "app" and request it. That is new and unusual for me and I'm not interested in logging into a phone app to request additional towels or bedding or toilet paper. Not my thing. I'm not sure that I'd stay at this hotel ever again because of the app thing and the hot water issue and the pricing is somewhat expensive for an older hotel.

Great apartment for a family stay. Stylish and very well equipped We were on the first floor but road noise not too bad Pool area was lovely, and great location for beach, dining or shopping. All booking is via website and room is entered via app on phone or key code. Only thing missing for us was laundry facilities or a laundry service which would have made it perfect!

Stayed for work. Shower only put out cold water. Hotel came to check - claimed it was working fine. Still wasn’t fixed, then they realized after some awkward conversations they had checked the wrong room. Staff was nice, but didn’t really get the job done.

Location is awesome. Pool area is great but a little soulless. Apartments are spacious but a little tired, particularly bathrooms.

Shower, TV, and coffee maker didn't work. Fire alarm went off twice

Had no hot water in my room night 1. Moved rooms night 2 and it was better. Overall experience not that great.

Loved the style of this property. The hot water is HOT. Water pressure was great too. Across the street from the beach.

I was a bit surprised that our 2 bedroom unit didn’t have any common space for shared living. Otherwise the location was amazing, the bed was so comfortable and the people really great.

They gave us the wrong room but worked hard to fix the problem

The stay was awesome, only complaint was that the TV connection was spotty, and the TV in the kids room never connected, so they weren’t able to watch tv in their room.

I regret booking my stay at Sonder The Beacon… • The noise level at nighttime was extremely high because of constructions, street noise (windows ineffective for noise insulation), and the rooftop club music and drunk people noise. • Only one functional elevator that is shared with all the rooftop club visitors. Long wait and a lot of people in the lobby who are waiting to go to the rooftop club. • The hallway to the room was outside and created a very low-level motel look. I could have booked a much superior stay with the same amount of money. Absolutely NOT worth it! Raised my concerns on the first morning of my stay and after waiting for a resolution on the phone with their corporate office for 2 hours, they offered NO resolution other than bringing a white noise device to my door…an insult to their paying customer. Spend your hard-earned money literally anywhere else in that beautiful area.

The historic look of the property and the room was comfortable with nice decor. The pool area was very pretty as well.

Staff were amazing! Loved pool area and guest lounge and roof top bar! Very convenient and had everything we needed.

I liked that it was right across from the beach and close to restaurants. I didn't like that cleaning for a 5 day stay was not included. We also had issues with the fire alarm going off in our room. I used the app to inform the staff about it twice and was told each time someone was on their way. No one ever came.

Nice place just a little on the run down side.

Great view of ocean from our room and had a nice pool and hot tub. We found parking in a nearby garage to be around the same as valet cost at the property.
