We needed a perfect setting for Mom’s birthday visit with her sister in Valpo, including a first floor bedroom and first floor walk in shower This is it! The bonus was that my sister and I each had a private bedroom AND an evening in the hot tub. So cozy. So well appointed. So clean. Even our white slipper socks stayed clean when walking around inside. The beds and pillows were VERY comfortable and both quantity and quality of linens were superior. Loved it! Can’t wait to go back again.

This house was everything we imagined. Peaceful with a fire pit and wood and a very clean hot tub. Large gas grill for dinners. Large kitchen table for game playing and VERY comfortable beds. The hots Jo and James were outstanding. The town lost power very early in the morning and they were there to the recipe with a generator asap so our group could get ready for a funeral in the morning. Super convenient location! Very stocked with everything g we needed! Highly recommend this stay! Will be staying again when in the area!!!

We stayed three nights while visiting family in the area. From the time of reservation through checkout, the hosts could not have been more thoughtful and easily reached. There were only two of us so the first floor had everything we needed. As an older person I appreciated the accessibility of the first floor. Note that this is a vintage home so steps are steep both to the upstairs and basement (where a lovely second bathroom is located). The bed was comfortable, hot tub a big plus, and everything we needed for meal prep was there. It is a lovely home and I would recommend it highly. We couldn’t have asked for a better first time experience! This house is charming, spacious, and decorated beautifully! It had everything we needed to feel at home during our stay! The hosts were so friendly, AND respectful of our privacy! They even left a note letting us know if we needed anything, they would leave a care package on the porch! We’re already planning on renting again for a romantic getaway!

The property itself was nice and held up to the photos on the listing. However, there are a couple negatives/warnings I feel others should be aware of. 1. The hot tub water was not very clean; there was a milky layer on the top. 2. Home is not advisable for children as there was a crossbow and pellet gun left unlocked and in plain view in the basement. 3. Shortly after checkout, the owner texted me to notify me they would be filing a $2000 claim against the damages insurance policy I purchased for “new scratches” to the wood floor along with images of said scratches. From the images, it appeared that there was years’ worth of normal wear and tear to the wood floors. Many of the scratches and indentations in the images appeared to have been previously varnished over, indicating that they were not new scratches from our stay. The insurance company ended up paying out the claim, but this was an unnecessary source of worry for 2 weeks. Overall, the home mostly lived up to expectations, but we are frustrated about the claim filed because we do not feel that we caused the alleged damages. I would recommend taking pictures of the state of the home at check-in to prevent this from happening to you.

The minute we walked in the door, we felt like we were at home. The house is beautifully maintained with gorgeous wood floors and stairs. We were so comfortable there. The bedrooms were all beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The neighborhood is cute and close to everything we needed. Our hosts were the best! We loved staying there.

We enjoyed our time here and there was plenty of room for our group. We were able to reach the host and they had a quick response.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our host was top notch...even baked us some breakfast breads for Easter morning! The house is beautiful and the beds were very comfy. It has a really nice deck and ample parking on property. Would highly recommend this house.

We rented this lovely home because our 2 14yo kids had a 3 day swim meet at Hobart HS. The house is lovely, comfortable, CLEAN and well equipped. We cooked all of our meals while there and were impressed by the appliances, pots and pans and kitchen tools provided. Cute wine glasses, you name it. The kitchen had plenty of paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags and dish towels. The bathrooms were well supplied as well - shampoo, conditioner, tons of very clean towels. The house was the perfect size for us and each room was planned out so well to maximize the square footage. Parking is ample, super convenient and the outdoor spaces are terrific. The host communication is prompt and on point as well. We absolutely recommend this property and hope to be back!

Great place, from the time I booked it until I left was so easy and great communication. The hot tub was perfect, house was spotless everything we could ask for was there. Plenty of places to eat and do within a few minutes. If we’re ever back in Valparaiso this will be the first place to look to stay at again.

This is a beautiful little home. Updated with enough farmhouse decor. Cozy, comfortable, welcoming. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Responding quickly to any needs you might have. We just loved it and would recommend it to anyone who needs a place here. Very close to many things.

We used this house as overflow for guests that came for my 50th birthday party. It was absolutely perfect! Plenty of space, clean, and comfortable. Communication was great. We will definitely use this property again! Fabulous location too! Jo really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! This property was perfect for my daughters and I. We loved its cute charm and quiet neighborhood location. Having chickens in the backyard was also a welcome treat. The hosts were more than accommodating and eager to make sure all our needs were met.

After booking more than 25 home rental stays with friends or family, I've been fortunate to deal with many fine hosts - but my experience working with Jo puts her at the very top. She communicated quickly and efficiently, she anticipated our needs, she helped us find Thanksgiving dinner, and more. Her sincere intent at insuring that we had a great stay was obvious. Brava, Jo! The house itself is older but has been skillfully remodeled. (Love the ceiling fans.) It was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and dinnerware and there's even a REAL coffee maker. The DVD collection is massive. The neighborhood feels safe with above-average shops and restaurants just minutes away. The descriptions of the place are accurate. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay in Valpo! The house is in a perfect location - within easy walking distance of downtown Valpo's restaurants, shops, and coffee shops. And it was an easy drive to our friends, where we celebrated an early Thanksgiving. The house is super clean, well organized, and had everything we needed to be comfortable for the weekend.

We had a great stay at this cozy home. The house is so nice and so clean. The location is great. We loved being able to walk to town to eat and shop at some of the stores. The hot tub was a nice bonus. The owners were great. They let our grandson feed their chickens which he loved. We all had a great time. We will be back!

We were in town for a family wedding. This was a perfect stay for our family for the weekend. Plenty of room for us- we loved being able to sit together at the kitchen table. Our children are big breakfast eaters, so we loved the fresh eggs delivered to our door our first morning. Check-in was super easy, and the place had everything we needed. This property was perfect for our weekend getaway with the kids. The property was clean and in a perfect location for going to the Dunes and a quick trip to Chicago. The owners were very friendly and gave us tips on things to do in the area. We were lucky enough to catch the popcorn parade down the street. James delivered us a dozen of fresh eggs from the chickens and even let the chickens out for the kids to play with. My little ones enjoyed the "beach house" and we are looking into going back for spring break. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend!

This was a nice place for us to stay while dropping our son off at college. Nice neighborhood and close to downtown Valpo.

We fully enjoyed our stay. The property met our every need. Everything was as described, and was clean and tidy. The property is a newer renovation of an older house, and has been very nicely done, with all modern amenities, quality fixtures etc. The kitchen had everything we needed for a large family dinner, which we grilled on the deck. The house is located on a quiet residential street, but is close to downtown and another close-by commercial area. There are parks nearby and Valpo has a lot going on for all ages. The large yard includes a fire pit, a kid's play structure and easy parking for several cars. The hot tub, which we used quite a bit, is attached to the deck. The chickens, far at the back of the yard, were great fun for the kids, and Jo delivered a dozen of their fresh eggs. (For those that might be concerned with noise, the chickens were totally unobtrusive.) Jo was great with communication and quickly answered any questions we had. The Valpo location provides easy access to Indiana Dunes (we recommend the National Park side), to Chicago, and we had a great all-day visit to the nearby Lake County Fair - a truly midwestern fair with all the animals, contests, rides etc. Downtown Valpo has lots of nice shops and restaurants and various seasonal activities. Overall - we had a great stay and will definitely stay again if we are back in the area with our (three generation) group.

There were four of us in town for the weekend and we enjoyed our stay at the house. There was plenty of room to spread out. Joanne was very responsive and when we asked for an iron and iron board, she quickly delivered one to us. The house was nice and clean. I’m would definitely stay there again.

If you want a place that is close to all the shops and restaurants downtown, this is the place. Quite neighborhood with good sidewalks. The home is clean, comfy and well stocked. The owners were easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.
