Alto da Boa Vista is a beautiful neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. It is located in the upper part of the Massif da Tijuca, which divides the city into North, South, West and Central. It's landmarks are Corcovado, the Tijuca National Park and the panoramic sites of Paineiras and Vista Chinesa. It's also close to the entrance to Pedra da Gávea where you can go hang gliding or just trekking. Rio's lowest temperature is recorded here; its mild climate, compared to the rest of the city, is due to the fact that it is at an altitude of about three hundred meters above sea level, and is completely surrounded by the Atlantic Forest.
Featured in many cinema and television, Alto da Boa Vista has breathtaking views and landscapes, rivers and waterfalls, places where you can spot wild animals and pick fruits, in addition to the traditional houses that make up the district.
We're in the middle of the city so you can drive through the most pleasant and quiet roads, surrounded by the forest, no chaos, choosing different ways to get to Zona Sul (where the popular beaches are), to Barra da Tijuca (very nice beach, open sea, colder, different from Zona Sul), Santa Tereza (historic, bucolic, pretty neighborhood) and São conrado (beach in between Zona Sul and Barra).
You will also be in Maracanã stadium's area.
Getting around:
Easy access to Barra da Tijuca. A five minute walk down the hill brings you to a major bus terminal with lines that take you all over the city, and a 10 minute bus ride connects you with the metrô (subway).
There are also reliable local cab companies and Uber.
