The fire alarm going off at 11:30 at night

Changed room option from 1st floor as female to 3rd floor at my request. Smelled bacon throughout the lobby for breakfast and then upon return to my 3rd floor room, I could still smell the bacon from the kitchen/lobby area...NOT good! Also, 3rd floor room above enclosed pool (main floor), but smelled like a pool nearby...NOT good. Bed was OK and clean room. Only met person at front desk upon arrival and exit after 1 night, booked 2 nights; thus, smell sent me packing and out the door. Would not recommend or use again- for price not a bargain. Checked online and Hilton Garden Inn was just $20/night higher...prior visits and should have known. Price had me expecting much better quality stay--live and learn! It was higher price than Fairfield Inn, it began to smell more like a pool with age over several years of stays since 2016. s

Location

This was a reasonably priced hotel in a business area of Naperville. We travelled from London. The property is functional, clean and quite busy with coach parties and private functions. We loved the beds - super comfy to the extent that we slept extremely well (not always the case at our age!) and looked forward to our beds at the end of each busy, sightseeing day in Chicago. The gym was small but perfectly adequate, we didn’t use the pool in the end. It was very useful to have the laundry facilities. The breakfasts were ok, not everyone’s choice but ok. Did I mention how comfortable the beds were!!

Well, here’s what really spoils things - why is it, in this current climate of environmental collapse, are we eating off polystyrene plates and bowls with plastic cutlery and drinking out of paper cups? This was such a disappointment, not just for the taste and difficulty eating, but the huge, HUGE amount of waste which was being thrown indiscriminately into several different bins?

The room was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We had to leave very early in the morning and the staff had breakfast out an hour before the scheduled time, so we were able to eat before heading out.

Great breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable room, quiet and pleasant stay. I liked the setup for the hotel-provided toiletries.
