The location. Also, the room I was eventually moved to was nice, but the bait and switch they played right my hotel reservation (showing pictures of the new building but actually sticking me in the old smelly one) put a sour taste in my mouth and I don’t plan on ever going back because of this. Which is a shame because I stay in the area all the time.
The room I booked looked nice, but when I got there I was put in a room that looked nothing like the one I booked. It smelled, had mold in the bathroom, and the table and even parts of the floor were all sticky and gross. It was absolutely disgusting. I talked to the front desk and they said they advertise with pictures the nicer/newer side but that is not the one you get booked in with the 3rd party reservation. This is fraudulent! You can’t put pictures of a room and then put someone in a totally different building and room! I was able to upgrade but they charged me an additional $100. I should not have to pay more money to be put in one of the rooms that I had booked and already paid for according to the pictures on the website.

this hotel has two 'buildings', one is old, another one is new remodeled. The old building's rooms are very old. The carpet looks very dirty. The new one's rooms are good.
The location is great!
The room I booked should have ocean view. Unfortunately, I got a room in the 1st floor in the end, no view.

Beds so comfy, high quality bedding! Love the roof top area. Very clean feel.
The sensored lights are cool in a way, but when you wake up in middle of night to use bathroom, all lights turn on and wake up everyone else. Bathroom is nice, but little tight.

The view is amazing. Vivian the hotel desk clerk was very good at her job.
The hotel is very dated and run down on the older side and did not warrant the rate we were charged. Construction began very early in the morning (7:00a.m.). We would never recommend or stay there again.

Location right on the La Jolla Cove was terrific. Easy access to the coastal walks, and one block to cafes & shopping. Great to have a one of the terrace suites up above the main hotel. Worth the lots of stairs - felt really coastal. Big terrace, more casual (yes somewhat dated) spaces.
Front desk staff were great, despite hotel being very busy with a sold-out hotel during the Concours car show.

The newer part of the hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are so clean and renovated beautifully with mood lighting, nice artwork, faux plants, and modern furniture. The new beds are so comfy! The location is incredible. You can walk downstairs in the morning and grab a coffee from Parakeet Cafe in the lobby, which features amazing lattes of all kinds like rose, lavender, matcha, mushroom, and tumeric. Then you can stroll across the street to take in the most stunning views of La Jolla’s coves, cliffs, and dramatic landscape beaches. It’s incredible! The cherry on top are all of the seals and sea lions that live in the cove. I saw so many babies!! Was adorable! If you are sensitive to sound, you may want to bring earplugs to sleep. It didn’t really bother me though.

The location is fantastic! RIGHT across the street from the walk along the ocean and the park. You can even hear the seals and sea lions at night.
