We spend a wonderful week in this spacious and very well equipped villa. The house has a lot of charm : a beautiful and very well maintained garden, a large swimming pool, a very well oriented terrace that offers a splendid view of the mountain of Sintra and its castles. We highly recommend this Villa, the ideal starting point to discover Lisbon and Sintra.

This a really lovely house in a fantastic location just outside Sintra with amazing views across the immaculate garden and pool to the famous and colourful hilltop Palacio de Pena. Very quiet location but easy access to Sintra, Lisbon, Estoril and the Atlantic coast. Very friendly and helpful owner and property manager. Thanks for a a great week!

We stayed at this villa in the second half of August. Wonderful sanctuary from the peak season crowds, fabulous view, beautiful garden, ample accommodation for our party of 6 and large pool. If you want a more rural location but with easy accesses to beaches and Sintra, this is a great place to stay.

Casa Heleno is a lovely house with beautiful gardens and a fantastic view across the valley towards the palaces at Sintra. We spent much time sitting on the terrace admiring the view and using the pool. Maria was a very attentive host who clearly cares about the house and her guests. There are two restaurants within walking distance. We would gladly come again and would highly recommend this house!

7 of us (4 adults and 3 teenagers) stayed for a week in July. The house is fabulous and exactly what we needed for a holiday. It is clearly a much loved house for Maria and, as a result, it is a fantastic place to stay. Maria was an excellent host. The kitchen is excellent with a very good range of condiments and basic cooking items. The bedrooms are great. There are two doubles on the lower level which are serviced by two bathrooms. There is a larger bedroom with 3 beds on the upper level with its own bathroom. The grounds are just fantastic. The pool is large and was a perfect size for us. The lawn is luscious and the beautiful gardens are extremely well maintained. There is a fabulous view across to the all the local landmarks (Palacio Pena, Palacio Nacional, Moorish Castle, Quinta De Regaleira, Monserrate, etc) The bonus for us was all the fruit trees. We were encouraged to eat as many apricots as we could, because they were the trees that were in fruit at the time that we were there. I would describe the location as semi-rural since it is on the outskirts of the village of Nafarros. We walked into the two restaurants in village. There is a small supermarket in nearby villages. Sintra is very easy to access (a short drive) and there is a large supermarket there. There is also a large and free carpark at the Portela de Sintra station for access to Lisbon (40 mins by train). The nearby beaches at Praia Grande and Praia das Macas are sandy and clean. We found many good restaurants in the local area.

The two don’t always go together but here they do! Beautiful home with a fantastic garden and a most charming hostess! Lots of space even for six. The kitchen was wonderful and very easy to work in. Main bedrooms up a short flight of stairs with a bath and a half. The property is centrally located being right between Sintra and all of the wonderful beaches. We were blessed with beautiful weather but it was cool enough that the pool was a bit chilly. We would love to return for a longer stay.

Accueil très chaleureux. Maria a été une hôte parfaite. La maison est t belle, piscine superbe (eau salée). Le jardin est magnifique et t bien entretenu. Largement assez de transats... La vue est ... exceptionelle, sur les palais de Sintra et le parc naturel. On mange des figues et des pommes du jardin. Cuisine t bien équipée, avec Nespresso, quantité d'ustensiles, serviettes de bain - on a trouvé l'équipement parfait. T tranquille (à part quelques jours de fête dans le village voisin, pas très dérangeant). ON reviendra!

We stayed at Heleno House in the middle of August with our family and had a splendid time. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The location is excellent but in a quiet spot. Conveniently located, within short driving distance from beaches, Sintra, Cascais and Lisbon. The owner, Maria, is a wonderful and helpful host. The garden is gorgeous and well taken care of. The view from the property is second to none! Sitting outside on the porch watching Palacio da Pena and Montserrat in the distance - just spectacular! The pool is clean with enough chairs for everyone to relax. There are plenty of towels for pool use. The house does not feel like a rental but it really makes you feel at home. Thank you, Maria. We highly recommend this property.

Nous avons loué la Villa Heleno une semaine début aôut et avons été enchanté! La Villa dispose de tout l'équipement nécessaire, la piscine et le jardin sont très agréables et la vue splendide. Qui plus est, Maria est vraiment charmante et disponible. Nous avons pu nous rendre 3 jours à Lisbonne (à 35-40 minutes de la Villa) et visiter Sintra et ses châteaux. La région regorge d'activités qui valent vraiment la peine (notamment le palais de Monseratte juste en face à 15 minutes de la Villa - magnifiques jardins!). Les plages sont également toutes proches (avec de très bons restaurants avec vue sur mer!!!!). Nous recommandons cette location sans hésiter. Merci encore Maria!

Best place to relax and appreciate this wonderful villa with it's pleasant swimming pool and barbecue conditions. Superb view with opportunities to stroll, visit palaces, beaches and breathe the pure country air. In 25 minutes we reached the centre of Lisbon with no problem. We will surely come back next year!! The villa itself is very attractive with all that is needed for a comfortable stay. The views across the valley to the hills are stunning and many of the sites to see in and around Sintra such as the Pena Palace can be seen from the villa. The garden is lovely and is ideal if you wish to have a quiet stroll around the grounds. The pool is a good size so that you can exercise doing lengths or just relax. The nearby beaches are stone free and extremely clean and are ideal for surfing, being only 10 - 15 minutes away by car. Maria met us at the villa and explained everything we needed to know and was very helpful, as well as being only a phone call away if needed, a very nice lady. All in all we had a lovely time and would like to thank Maria for her the use of her villa.

We stayed here for a week and couldn't recommend the villa highly enough. Very well equipped. Beautiful, idyllic gardens and beautiful views. We were genuinely sad to leave. The whole area is peaceful, close to the town of Sintra and the Atlantic Coast. Well located for shops and restaurants. Our hostess Maria was friendly and helpful and our pleasure staying at her villa was her main priority, so many thanks to her.

We stayed at the villa for two weeks and had a fantastic time. The villa was spotlessly clean and very tastefully presented. The kitchen was well equipped and the pool a great size and very well maintained. The garden is wonderful with great views and we spent many a lovely evening on the patio watching the fireflies. We could happily spend the day at the villa, the fully enclosed grounds were large enough for our children (9 and 6) to run around but the convenient location meant many day trips were possible. We were joined by my parents for a few days and there was more than enough space and facilities. We were all very impressed and highly recommend this villa and want to return next year!

We have just had a lovely week in Maria's beautiful villa. Large, cool and airy inside and tastefully furnished with a well equipped kitchen. A wonderful garden, orchard full of apple trees and a large fig tree with fresh figs for breakfast every day. The pool at 15m was a great size. Nearby bar and local restaurants were good and Sintra and its surrounding countryside is a treat. We had fantastic views looking across from the house to the hillside and the palaces were beautifully lit up at night. We were three couples and this is our fourth holiday away in houses similar to this one. It certainly matches the others we have stayed in and above our expectations. My first visit to Portugal, I loved it. Delightful people, good food and wine and excellent value. Thank you to Maria for an excellent week.

Nous avons adoré cette villa spacieuse et confortable, avec une décoration recherchée, très bien équipée, dans une grande propriété arborée. La piscine est parfaite et le jardin autour est magnifique et bien entretenu. L’accueil de Maria, la propriétaire, est chaleureux, et son souhait est que vous profitiez au mieux de sa maison. Le tout dans une belle région, avec la vue sur le parc naturel et ses châteaux, et même le coucher de soleil sur la mer, qui est à quelques kilomètres, est au rendez-vous au premier étage. Dans le top des villas que nous avons louées jusqu’à présent !

If you are looking for somewhere to relax then this villa is the place for you. With a very good sized swimming pool (approx 15m x 5m), and beautiful gardens (complete with apple, plum and fig trees), this villa offers privacy without being isolated. Located just on the edge of the small town of Nafarros, which has two really good local restaurants, the villa also has absolutely fabulous views of Sintra and the palaces. A car is necessary for food shopping in the nearest supermarket in Lourel and for generally getting around, if you can tear yourself away from the sun terrace and the pool. The owner is helpful and friendly and wants you to enjoy her home. Unfortunately the traditional wooden furniture inside the villa was not as comfortable as the outside sun loungers.
