The facilities are from the 80s so a little dated, but the hotel is clean and things are mostly well-maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Just a few negative points: * The credit card machine at Reception doesn't accept AmEx cards from outside Brazil. Luckily, they found a separate credit card machine (registered to the restaurant) that accepted AmEx, but if they hadn't found that, we would have been stuck. This is a failing, as the hotel publicly claims to accept AmEx. * The sheet for the bed is too small. It comes loose and slips off during the night, so that by the morning you are sleeping on the bare mattress. Not pleasant. * Not many healthy options at breakfast: the cereal is pre-sugared, and the milk is full-fat only (no skimmed). The fruit is good, however. * There is abandoned broken equipment around the pool/fitness area: a broken running machine in the gym, and a broken sunbed thrown into a hallway behind a door. This is a sign of bad management: if something is broken, a hotel should put it out of sight of customers!

Bassano Vaccarini is a great option because it combines a great central downtown location with excellent cost/benefit. They offer one bedroom apartments for the same price as a hotel room, have a great breakfast and parking is included.

Not all of the reception staff can communicate effectively in a language other than Portuguese.
