We loved staying at this cozy cottage! It’s conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants, shops and the waterfront. And it’s just a very short drive to explore Acadia National park. The neighborhood is very quiet. Our pup enjoyed the fenced-in backyard too 🐶 We’re looking forward to coming back to Bar Harbor soon!

We were a family of 5 that stayed for a week. The house was immaculate and very well stocked. The host, Barbara was very attentive, although we really didn't need to contact her for anything. The location was great. The neighborhood was quiet, which was a nice contrast to the bustle of main street. Had we brought our dogs there was a very nice fenced in yard. The twin beds were a little stiff and while the house was air conditioned it was done with units, the main one being in one of the bedrooms. It was quite loud, but all of the units together did the trick. We turned the main one off at night after the house cooled down and were quite comfortable. This is the perfect place if you want to be close to main street but also would like your space and privacy. Would definitely stay again.

This property was amazing. Yard and house was much bigger than expected. We had 4 adults, one kid, and 2 large dogs and had room to spare. Perfect location off of main roads but short walk to everything. Everything was stocked more than any other place I've stayed. Its clear the owners take pride and joy in this place.

Shannon Cottage was a great home base for exploring all Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park has to offer. The house was well-stocked with essentials and kitchen gear. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for our dog. The host was communicative and helpful. Highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and would do so again. Clean, comfortable, everything we could need was there, and the location was perfect for exploring everything while an easy walk to town. Our pups enjoyed the yard
and were at ease in the quiet neighborhood. The owner communicated well and promptly. We even had fresh flowers! Thank you Barbara for a wonderful place to stay for our vacation! Made some great memories with our daughter.

We really enjoyed our trip to Bar Harbor. The location of this house is perfect. It’s a short walk into town and an easy drive to Acadia NP.
We cooked most of our meals during our 6 day stay here. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, dishes and had a nice selection of spices. This made cooking at “home” a snap.
The bed that I slept in is comfortable and the water pressure for showers was good. We were able to relax in the living room on comfortable furniture when we were out exploring.
Our dogs loved the yard and in warmer weather there’s plenty of space to relax outside.

Our 2nd time staying here. The owner was good enough to set it up so we could arrive early. Place perfect for us. Very quiet street, yet stone's throw to Mt Desert St in Bar Harbor downtown. Allows you to ditch the car when going about town. Nice weather this time so we ate lunch on the deck under the parasol shade. A nice perk.
Not related to the cottage but the lobster roll at "The Hotdog Stand" in Winter Harbor (Schoodic Pennisula) is my wife's new favorite after discovering last time here that Adelman's Deli had closed. Of course, it's a two-hour boat (or car) ride round trip but if you like hot buttered lobster rolls worth a stop if you're going out there.

We loved Shannon Cottage. We have been coming to MDI every year since our children were babies. This was the best stay so far. The house was extremely clean, well stocked, and well situated for adventures in town or anywhere on the island. Barbara is a great host. Thank you!!

My husband, my daughter and two grandaughters stayed here for a week. The location was better than expected and the house was very cozy and comfortable with everything you need. Safe and quiet neighborhood about a block from downtown. I would drive my family to dinner and then return the car to the house (husband sprained his ankle). Really enjoyed our stay at this house!

Shannon Cottage is in a great location that is within walking distance to town. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, we felt extremely safe being out and about after dark. Well equipped kitchen with lots extras to help with cooking - new pans, bowls, cooking utensils, spices, sugar, oil, vinegar, Pam, paper products, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dish liquid, etc. Games, books, and movies were provided for entertainment. Very accommodating of our dogs - fenced in back yard and a filled water dish was waiting for our arrival. Digital lock made it so everyone in our group could come and go as they pleased. Looking forward to a return visit!!

This was our second visit to this property and it will continue to be our first choice when planning upcoming trips to Bar Harbor. It's located in a quiet neighborhood that was within an easy walk to town and the water. Very close to hiking trails. We appreciated the special touches, including toiletries to cover unexpected needs and fresh flowers and chocolates on arrival. We're happy to have found this gem. It makes for easy trip planning in the future.

The cottage was perfect for 4 adults and two dogs. Everything that you could ever require on vacation was provided by the homeowner. The large fenced in backyard was great place to run our dogs. The outstanding location was a 5 minute walk to town and a short drive to Acadia park. Highly recommended!!!!!! Joe / Pa

Barbara's place was absolutely perfect for our visit to Acadia National Park! The location is a few minutes walk to Bar Harbor (shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, etc) and a short drive to Acadia National Park. We stayed here because of the location AND that it was dog friendly with a fully fenced in yard. The house was well stocked with amenities- Extra blankets, towels, a full kitchen with glasses and dishes, a first air kit, even board games! -you name it - it was a home away from home! Barbara even had a bouquet of fresh flowers in the kitchen when we arrived which was just another way she goes above and beyond. My family stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. If we ever get the chance to visit Acadia again, we will definitely stay here!

We've been to Bar Harbor before, but this was the first visit with our two greyhounds. The cottage is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood that is only a 5-minute walk away from the dog-friendly town shops and restaurants, and a short drive to the back entrance to Acadia. The large fenced-in yard allowed the dogs to play off-leash. The cottage itself has a nice layout. We cooked meals every day in the well-equipped kitchen full of everything you'll need. There's a grill out back as well. We will look to stay here again on our next trip to the area.

This was my second time booking this property and it was just as enjoyable as the last visit! The house is clean and in an amazing location, nice and quiet but close to everything we needed. When the lock stopped working, the issue was resolved quickly. I would be happy to stay here again in the future!

I traveled with my niece and our dogs. The enclosed backyard is spacious, secure and well maintained. It does not have night time lighting, so bring a flashlight. House is very clean and cozy. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of glasses, mugs, dishes and cookware. All in very good condition. We had great weather, but needed to use the heat once. It worked very well. It’s just a few blocks from the town square. Close to everything. We didn’t need our cars at all to do all the downtown stuff. I highly recommend this rental. We hope to book it again.

I brought my daugthers (9 and 11) and also my mom and dog. The fenced in yard was very handy. The neighborhood was quiet and it was safe and easy to bike and walk. We went to town by foot most times which was super convenient. Overall, everyone enjoyed their stay. If I could make one suggestion, it would be that the house needs room darkening shades for sleep purposes.

This house is right in downtown Bar Harbor. Perfect spot for grabbing food at the restaurants or the grocery store a few blocks away. We went to Acadia every day and it was a quick trip. The house is FULLY stocked including everything needed to cook. It was clean, nicely decorated and perfect for our family and dog. Quiet and safe neighborhood that our children could walk and scooter around. Host left us flowers and chocolates for Easter! Thanks for a great spring break vacation!

This was our third time staying at Shannon Cottage. The house is comfortable and stocked very well with anything we can need. The very nice fenced yard is great for our dogs. It is a quiet neighborhood but a short walk into the center of town. Definitely our favorite place to stay on Mt. Desert Isle!

My husband and I and our dog had a wonderful time. The house was located in a quiet area yet so close to town. Barb was there when we arrived and gave us tips on where to eat and the grocery store. The place was equipped with everything you would need. It was lovely and felt like home. Our dog loved the fenced in back yard. Enjoyed spending time on the deck after being out all day. Will definitely stay there again.

Bar Harbor is such a dog friendly town but so hard to find an in town rental that is dog friendly. Well the house was wonderful! Quiet area but quick walk to everything. Lovely back yard and the space was so comfortable I felt like I was home. The owner, Barbara was so friendly and easy to communicate with. I am definitely coming back!

First I will say the location of this property is awesome. It is just a short walk to the village center and easily accessible to get to all the places I wanted to visit. Even walking in the neighborhood, everyone was very nice. The yard was perfect for my dog, lots of running room. The communication between Barbara was great too. She is so helpful and responsive to all questions, had informational sheets and a wonderful little gift on the counter. Thank you!! I would say though, that the home needs a deep cleaning and the beds were a bit uncomfortable. This would not keep me from returning though. Loved my stay and loved the area, I really did not want to leave. Thank you Barbara for allowing me to stay in your home and enjoy Bar Harbor!!

5 minute walk to town. The best location with a combination of quiet neighborhood setting plus proximity to the Village Green. The house needs a renovation but the inside was mostly clean. Keep in mind, there is only one bathroom which was a major inconvenience with four people in the house. Beds were kind of hard but with three bedrooms we could spread out. Couches in living room were new and clean. Good value especially so close to town. Wish the house was updated and had another bathroom.

Absolutely the perfect house and the perfect week for my family and I. We stayed with 2 small children and our two dogs. The property was wonderful, clean and in the perfect location. It is on a very quiet road only a 5 minute walk to town. Barbara was a wonderful host who stopped by when we first arrived to make sure we didn’t need anything. It was very easy to contact her if we needed to but there was no need. Everything was at the house we needed and there was nothing we had questions about. We would absolutely stay here again.

Cozy cottage for Acadia trip
We had the best week in Shannon Cottage! The location was great! It was about a 1/2 mile walk to downtown so we walked it every time. Parking is horrible downtown, so walk if you can! The house was so comfortable and cozy. It was super clean and had everything you could need or want for a vacation. There were lots of really thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, nightlights through out the house, a sweet welcome gift. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook and the house was well supplied. There was plenty of soap, cleaners, paper towels, foil, baggies, trash bags, etc. The beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Rented for a week, and it's the ideal place for a week of hiking in Acadia while also enjoying Bar Harbor. We were a couple with two dogs but it would more than comfortably fit up to 6 people. The fully fenced back yard was great for the dogs and us.
