Overall a wonderful lake house. The view of lake from every bedroom was amazing. Owner was responsive & provided many extras such as candy, packaged snacks, garbage bags, laundry detergent, etc. The driveway was steep but common for lake property. The only bathroom was on 2nd floor of house which was fine for my family but was harder for elderly parents to get to when they came to visit. The path to lake was a shared path & dock was connected to neighbor’s dock, separated by wall & a curtain. The dock, boat house & kayaks were great!!!

We had an Amazing weekend at the .Caitlin's lake house. My favorite part was the gorgeous view of Lake Skaneateles, I could sit there all day and look at that view! The inside of the house was spotless and had a beautiful wood interior. The beds were super comfy an there was tons of seating, both inside and out on the deck. The lower boat house is also super cute! If we had stayed longer we would have tried out the pontoon boat but didn't get a chance to this time around. Caitlin was great at checking in on us and recommended some great restaurants. Really enjoyed our stay here - Would definitely book again! Note: There are quite a few steps to get to the main house and it's a steep walk to the boat house...but definitely worth it!

Absolutely beautiful location. The owners are excellent hosts and are very nice. This was my family’s second time renting this same house and we have a great time.

We had a great time and spent most of our time on the water. The “toys” that come with the rental are fantastic. The place is tucked into the woods, and there are a lot of steps to get to the house and water level. (Good to know if you have trouble with steps) The owners are fantastic and really helpful.

This house is situated in an incredibly beautiful part of Lake Skaneateles- rolling hills and crystal clear water! Inside, every comfort awaits from super soft bedding, crisp linens, well-stocked kitchen supplies, to movies and water toys to entertain the kids. We spent countless hours kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and using the boat (which was the best bonus addition to a vacation house). The boat house on the water was a perfect space to escape the sun, relax and watch a movie, or grab a snack, all while staying a mere few feet from the waters edge. In addition to the beautiful house and lake, the hosts were kind, attentive, and beyond hospitable. We can't wait to return to this gem of a place!

We stayed at this amazing lake house for about 3 weeks and loved everything about it! Caitlin was very responsive and helpful, and Kitty was available for anything we needed during the stay. They went out of their way to make things convenient for us during this pandemic, and went above and beyond in generosity. We loved hanging out down in the boat house and lighting fires down there at night, while watching the sun set. We were really glad to have the pontoon boat, as well! We explored every inch of that lake. The house itself is perfect, as well, and the beds were really comfortable - like the ones at really nice hotels! We definitely plan to return!

We had a relaxing week. The area is beautiful and tranquil. We love to fish, go boating and hiking and this was the area to go. Skaneateles is an artistic town located nearby. Everyone was friendly. We love this place!

My family and I had a wonderful time. The rental looks exactly as pictured. Kitty was very prompt with answering any question I had. There is literally a lake view from each room in the house. We loved the boathouse and all the water toys. My daughters especially loved the pedal boat and splash pad. The dock by the boathouse was a great fishing spot for my husband. The surroundings were so calming and peaceful. We loved it all!

What a wonderful home in a heavenly location! I had good communication with Caitlin, and Kitty was a terrific host who quickly answered our questions during the week. The house is wonderful, the lake sublime. Some highlights: Kitty’s pulled pork, waiting for us on arrival; kayaking on the lake at sunset with the water placid and reflective; sitting on the porch overlooking the lake reading a book, having a coffee, thinking pleasant thoughts; doing the same thing at the dock; searching for 300 million year old fossils in the shale on the shore; a brisk run around the lake; bedrooms with lake views; a trip to Skaneateles Village; a dip in the water; pontooning across the lake waves; getting rescued by Kitty and Tim after we ran out of gas in the pontoon (sorry Kitty!); I could go on with many lovely memories, but you get the point. The house is up to date, with terrific views, very comfortable, a great kitchen and comfortable living room. The porch overlooking the lake is a great place to have a coffee and read a book. The boathouse is great, with a dock, kayaks and paddle boat. The water is cool but comfortable, and it was great to swim for a bit and then bask in the sun on the dock. The three bedrooms have views of the lake. I’m sure I’m forgetting something but the stay was worth every penny. We were very sad to leave it and hope to come back again someday. Strongly recommended. Thank you Kitty and Caitlin!

My family and I had an amazing family vacation for 7 days right on the lake. It was wonderful having the private dock right on the water and the boat house was great to have. We enjoyed the boat house, dock, and lake every day we were there. We had so much fun swimming, fishing, and boating. The owner was so nice and accomodating. She respected our privacy but was very helpful when needed. I highly recommend this property.

The house was clean and had everything we needed to feel at home for the week. The view of the lake was amazing. We loved waking up to that each day and watching the sun set every night. We used the kayaks and the boat and had so much fun on the water. We missed it as soon as we left. We would definite love to stay here again.

Loved being right on the lake! We went down to the dock and boat house every day and enjoyed being right on the lake level. Back up at the house in the late afternoon, we enjoyed the upper level deck and gathering to play games in the large living area at night. All in all a nice four days away. The owners were very accommodating when we wanted to bring our own boat and a first for us in a rental property, was the crockpot of pulled pork waiting for us when we arrived and staples in the refrigerator and closets. So nice!

Caitlin was absolutely fantastic! She was so quick with responses and made us feel very welcomed. The house was very nice and was very clean and welcoming! She even had pulled pork waiting for us when we got there! The boat house was very clean and we were right on the water. Make sure you are prepared for some walking! Overall we had an amazing time!

From the moment we walked into the house we immediately felt at home. It was comfortable, cozy, and inviting. To top this all off, the lovely Kitty made us a plentiful portion of pulled chicken, which was really nice. After our long journey from Gibraltar, it was very welcome not to have to cook that first night. The bedrooms all had a lake view, and the beds were comfortable to sleep in. The views were stunning, and the house had everything you would need on a day-to-day basis. The boathouse offered an absolutely beautiful view of the lake, as well as kayak's, and an added bonus of a paddle boat. Alas, we were very unfortunate with the weather, but on the odd days it was sunny, and we were not out for the day, we were down at the boathouse. Despite the rain, we had a brilliant time. For anyone looking for a peaceful retreat by a stunning lake, I would definitely recommend this house!

We spent a lovely week at this house. Kitty was so welcoming and did everything to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. The lake water is so clear and clean and refreshing. The little rock beach was perfect for our toddler and our older kiddos had a great time taking the boat out or jumping off the dock. The bedrooms were very comfy and the views waking up each morning never got old. The drive to the town of Skaneateles takes about 25min but is very pretty. There are a few cute restaurants and shops in the town. Other than that we didn't venture out much except on one rainy day to a kids' science museum in Ithaca, which our children (ranging 2-8) all loved. I would definitely recommend buying most of your groceries on the way in as there is not a lot nearby. We wanted a quiet week of family time with lake time, game nights, reading, pretty sunsets, dinners on the deck, etc and this house was absolutely perfect for that. I would definitely return!

This is our second year on Lake Skaneateles at The Peaceful Retreat. My husband said "it was a great place to visit and I DO WANT TO LIVE THERE!" Tim and Kitty are the best hosts. So much is provided and the "camp" is updated and clean. Enjoyed coffee on the deck and dinners grilled outside. We fished and had campfires. We didn't go as many places as last year because we enjoy the lake and boathouse so much, why leave. We did visit Skateateles and Home and took a ferry ride. I would recommend this to everyone - but not my week!!!!
