The condo is close to shops and also to dining options, especially in Hanalei. The pool area was very nice and clean.The biggest downside was the noise level. Once, there were so many chicken on the property, that they will wake you up at dawn unless you sleep like a rock (and they even jump into the condo if you forget to close the mosquito doors or your kids don't close them). But this is the first floor condo and the ceiling/floor is so thin, you can hear every step they do upstairs. Also one of the bedrooms is directly connected to the living room of the other first floor condo and the TV is mounted on that wall. You could hear that as if it was in this very condo. We had our kid (trying to) sleep there, what was impossible. So be prepared for that. We read the same thing before in reviews but couldn't believe it would be that bad. It is unfortunately.

The kitchen was fully functional, there was a laundry and the grounds were lovely. We were able to walk to Princeville Center for restaurants and shopping. It was about a 10 minute walk. It is also fairly close to Hanalei, where there is good shopping and restaurants too.We arrived at night and finding a parking space and the unit in the dark was a bit challenging. There are signs pointing to the condo units but at night the lighting of the signs was dim. We managed though and once we found the unit, we were delighted with everything we found. The property management company was pleasant and called the next day to check in. Staying in Princeville was our choice and I would highly recommend it for those who want a beautiful setting in a lush area. But you need a car to get to the sights south and west. We rented a car and we drove to Waimea Canyon (must see) one day. We visited Allerton Botanical Gardens and Spouting Horn another day and had dinner plans in Kapa’a.We also took a Napali Coast and snorkeling cruise on the Napali Sea Breeze which is out of Anini Beach, quite close to Princeville. Everyone has to see the Napali coast for themselves, whether from sea or air. It is the gem of the island.

The master shower could use some work. The things that could not necessarily be helped was the lack of privacy in the living room (lots of windows and a pathway right outside). The other would be the downstairs unit was extremely loud with foot traffic above. You can here every move the upstairs makes. We attempted to speak with the family above us regarding their 3 yr. old running around every morning at 5 am. However they were rude and uncooperative. The next family (7 of them) were much quieter. However that was our last day there. Not something the owner or property can help, however be aware. This would not be a deal breaker for us, but I would consider an upstairs unit next time. Or hope for better neighbors. I would note that the property management also slow to respond to issues. They took a 1.5 days to get back to me about the bbq being out of gas. Overall a great vacation.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to cook. The location is great, a short 15 min walk to the grocery store, shopping area, and restaurants. The pool! The only downside is that it's a lower unit and there is no soundproofing between it and the upper unit. Even if the guests upstairs are quiet, it's constant thumping and bumping when they are there. Woke us up on two occasions when guests had a late check-in. Something to consider if you're sensitive to noise. Otherwise, this unit is everything you could want!

This place was everything! Perfect space for 2 couples, it has everything you you ever need as far as kitchen supplies and bathroom and beach towels. There are so many outdoor seating options to simply relax. Great area to just go for little walks every morning.

This is the fifth time we’ve visited Princeville and the first time for us to stay on the North shore. Options on VRBO were limited based upon the dates we were looking to book our vacation, and this unit wasn’t on the top of our list, but we booked it based upon our needs and availability. Overall decent experience. The unit layout is nice and large for a 2 bedroom. Older complex and all the units exterior look like they need to be refreshed with paint, etc. Had an issue with the freezer and reached out to the Management company and they said they’d address the concern, but never did. Also, there was an issue with the Master Bath shower as it wasn’t draining well and got worse during our stay. My wife ended up pulling out a massive (and disgusting) hairball out of the drain. You’d figure the cleaning crew would notice the drain issue during their cleaning process, but apparently not. Will we stay in Princeville again? Definitely. Would I book this unit again based upon our overall experience? No. PROS -Clean upon arrival -Nice décor -Good appliances -Safe location -Comfortable beds -Decent communication with Management CONS -Lower Level (and older construction) -No beach chairs or umbrellas provided -Lack of follow through with Management when we had a concern -Hairball

Amazing property! Super clean with all the amenities you need. The size was perfect for two couples and there was plenty of room for us to hangout inside while it was raining. Super nice and safe area with shops and beaches within walking distance. Property management came right over when we had a simple issue and were so nice! I would recommend this place to anyone, in fact we already have!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Condo was as described and more. The kitchen has lots of appliances including a great Ninja blender perfect for fruit smoothies. Beds are comfortable and location is great, within walking distance to Annini Beach and Queen's Bath. We would definitely stay there again!

Overall the experience was good. Pool was out of commission being renovated and we were not aware prior to arrival or upon confirmation of our upcoming stay. Path to beach was more of a trail to the beach then a path.

The unit above is being renovated. WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS BY THE PROPERTY MANAGERS BEFORE ARRIVAL. Skill saws, hammering, banging above our heads bolted us out of bed at 7:30 AM for the week and the noise was extremely loud all day and at times exceeded 100 decibels. It completely ruined or enjoyment of the condo.

Very disappointed in this property. There was a water leak before we got there, and the cleaning staff was still cleaning when we arrived. The dishwasher didn’t work, so has to wash dishes by hand. They did provide a credit due to the property not being up to par, however. The knobs on the stove were so worn, we couldn’t tell what the settings were, and found a friendly cockroach on the stove the morning we left. Eww. This was obviously either a timeshare or a vacation rental. The furniture was mismatched and dated, as were the bathrooms. This property definitely needs a remodel.

This rental is placed in a terrific, central location. Easy access to the shopping center along with beautiful strolls along the paths parallel to the golf course. The condo came equipped with all the standard kitchen items, along with a great blender for making smoothies. The condo has a nice feel to it. Big comfy sofa for watching movies at night. Beds were really comfortable. The gardens surrounding the ample outdoor seating areas gave an added sense of privacy. The pool is really large, great for laps and always at the perfect temperature. I would love to return to this rental in the future.

This property was such a great place to stay after exploring the island. The pool was never busy and we enjoyed all the extras that came in the condo.

The exterior property description was not very accurate and misleading. Parking was ample but dark and unsecured as were the walkways leading to individual unit. One of the reason we chose this unit was due to the description of a mountain view. There was no view from the actual unit or the patio outside. The unit did not have air conditioning but had ample ceiling fans with a nice cross breeze. The unit was in close proximity to grocery store and shopping. Great area for morning walks once outside the property grounds. The property grounds are not well maintained.

This was a spacious, clean, comfortable condo unit. The very nice swimming pool and ping pong table are nearby. Views are of the well-kept, lush landscaping; no parking lot view. Only downside was the roofing work going on above us with air compressor roaring through the day, starting at 9:15 am, and the scaffolding in front of our unit. Wish we had been warned about this, I would have chosen a different unit if available.

The Condo was very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 separate bathrooms, the kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you would need to cook with. The complex was clean and also had a pool and bbq area. We walked to Anini beach several times. It was a short trail (but very steep) to the beach. Within driving distance to shops and restaurants at Hanalei as well as beaches on the North Coast. Plenty of fans in the suite helped keep things cool. The check in process was excellent and the management company was very good at checking in to make sure everything was satisfactory. We would stay here again.

My only hesitation on staying there again would be that there is no air Conditioning and I run hot body temperature wise ~ I was very uncomfortable even with the fans ~ however for me it would be fine in the Cooler months all in all a fantaatix trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay al Jeff and Laurie’s. Their home was well appointed and well equipped with everything. Kitchen has everything as well as plenty of towels, beach towels, beach chairs etc. Home is nicely decorated and very comfortable. I however didn’t realize that there was no air conditioning and with the heat I personally was very uncomfortable (the fans just didn’t do it) but I’m a terribly hot person that over sweats so there lay my discomfort. Overall our stay was definitely a 5***** thanks

The condo was perfect. Super clean and in a great location. The owners absolutely thought of everything from spices in the cabinets, to board games and art supplies, to a cooler bag for your day excursions. Mauna Kai 5A was a great family condo for my husband and I (celebrating a 50th Bday and our 25th wedding anniversary) and our adult children to call home base as we adventured the beautiful north shore of Kauai. Princeville center was so convenient for any grocery or shopping needs and of course Lapperts ice cream cravings!! Loved our stay there
