I arrived at the Little Jewel Box after three and a half months of traveling, having stayed in VRBO properties in Ojai, CA, Port Townsend WA, and two separate properties in Victoria, Canada. I needed a rest from all that traveling and I found just what I needed - it was like escaping to the South of France! This private, peaceful spot is perfect in every way - the location, decor, the comfy couch and bed and quite a library of DVDs and books to read. Even though Kipra was out of town during my stay, she communicated with me in a timely manner.

The Little Jewel Box is a perfect fit for those who have a love for style and enjoy small scale places. We returned for our second visit recently and bonded with this charming cottage even more than when we were there for our honeymoon. It is beautifully cared for and has every amenity one would want. We cooked breakfast every morning and found the small kitchen lacked nothing and was very thoughtfully designed. The location is IDEAL. It is walking distance to the amazing Monterey Aquarium( 2 tickets come with the cottage stay). We stayed for almost a month this time. There is so much exploring to do in this area but we found ourselves enjoying The Little Jewel Box so much we always seemed to get a late start on our day. We LOVE this darling little home and are already planning our next return. We are so grateful to have found Kipra's masterpiece. She has named it very appropriately. We are also thankful to have encountered such a lovely owner as Kipra.

My wife and I spent a wonderful month at “the little jewel box” as our home away from home from mid-January to mid-February, 2015. From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for a treat. Entering, we immediately felt as though we had walked into the luxury of a well furnished apartment in Paris. Every room, from the bedroom and bathroom to the living room, kitchen and dinette, the space has been well designed and appointed, providing for efficient use of space and ease of movement throughout. As we enjoy preparing our own meals, the kitchen, though small, was more than adequate. From pots and pans to glassware and cutlery and the most well stocked spice drawer we have ever encountered in such accommodation (truly a bonus!), we found this home lacked nothing. The French Doors opening from the living/fireside room to an outdoor patio provided yet another room for morning or late afternoon relaxation. The welcome folder is always something we enjoy reading in every home, providing helpful information about the home as well as the general area, its sites, shops, and eateries. Here, the owners have provided an extensive and detailed folder that far exceeds the norm, and we took advantage of many suggestions and “don’t miss” recommendations. The location of the little jewel box enabled us to leave our car at the house and walk everywhere as we explored Monterey, Pacific Grove and the coastline east and west. We used our car only to drive outside the area. The little jewel box’s location is only 12 blocks from Cannery Row with its eclectic array of restaurants, shops, coffee shops, parks, plazas and the Monterey Aquarium. Though the home is located uphill from the waterfront and may be a challenge for some people, we did not find it difficult and often made the trek a couple of times a day. Altering our routes to and from the waterfront, was a wonderful way to explore the neighborhoods of this and its neighboring city of Pacific Grove as well as forging optional routes to and from the Bay front. Our enjoyment of a month in Monterey is credited to and enhanced by the owners’ thoughtfulness and preparation of this lovely home, their ready availability to respond to questions, and their warmth of hospitality extended to us while staying in their VRBO. We feel that we rented the “jewel of jewels” in Monterey and hope to return in the near future. It may be the “Little Jewel Box” but it is a “Jewel Box of Large Heart.”

You will love your visit to the Little Jewel Box. The owner has taken great care in the design and maintenance of this property. Expect great communication and be prepared to treat this home like the treasure it is with no shoes inside. I hope other renters will continue to use care when they visit so The Little Jewel Box is in as lovely condition the next time I visit! I will definitely stay here again. The space heater in the little guest bedroom was handy and served to add just the right amount of white noise for my little one to sleep. While the home is small it is also well designed and well appointed so I had no space issues whatsoever for storing my things or moving around the home comfortably.

This property is lovely. It's even better than pictured. The decorating is perfect. And the home is beautifully maintained. It is the most thoughtfully prepared rental we've ever had. Nothing was overlooked in its design. It is indeed small but a jewel. The location is terrific too. Centrally located to both Monterey and Pacific Grove and an easy drive to Carmel. Loads of good restaurants. Passionfish in Pacific Grove is fab. And the deli just up the street, Compagno, is not to be missed (try their Velvet cake!). The house is a little less than a mile from Grove Market, a great grocery store with in incredible prepared food section. It's an easy neighborhood for walking. Lovely houses and astonishing views of the ocean around many corners. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this property to others with the caveat that it is small but very cozy and perfectly laid out and appointed.
