Perfect location for exploring Golden Circle & South Coast … with a small grocery store 15 minutes away! Property was very clean with well stocked kitchen. Unfortunately we were so busy we didn’t have time to enjoy the hot tub or sauna. Communication with host was fantastic … including a wonderful packet with great local information prior to the stay!

House on the Golden Circle is the place to go for complete peace and quiet away from urban bustle. It rained everyday – we ignored that – so make sure you have good wet weather clothing.
The house is about 25-minutes from the delightful city of Selfoss which is a fun place to walk with some good eating. Groceries are easily purchased at Kronan and you really don’t need any cash. I spent five nights in this clean and tidy home with my two daughters and a son-in-law and it was perfect for our needs, although we traveled every day. For company we had horses in the surrounding fields and swooping Killdeer.
The largest bedroom does not have black out shades so you may want a sleeping mask. The owner was friendly, communicative and check-in was easy. All kitchen utensils are provided but we only had breakfasts; lunch and dinner were on the road when we explored Icelandic cuisine.
Our time was limited so we chose this location as the “bottom point” of the Golden Circle in order to hit specific locations: the Southern coast (Vik), and then Thingvellir, Seljalandsfoss, Skogavoss & Gullfoss waterfalls, Geysir, Kirkjufell, Reykjavik, the Snafellsness Peninsula and other places. We also highly recommend the intimate Fontana Hot Spring Spa for a relaxing afternoon.

This property was a great location allowing us to visit all the sites within driving distance each day. The house was very cute and well maintained. Nice quiet location with a view. Definitely recommend staying for week.

This was the perfect home base for my husband and I while we spent time im South Iceland. The location perfectly balanced our desire for privacy/seclusion while still being writhing reasonable driving distance to stops on the Golden Circle and great food in Selfoss. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax at the end of the day. We were also very blessed to see a spectacular showing of the Northern Lights on our first night.

The location was absolutely amazing, it’s location is perfect for if you want to do golden circle; or south coast. All information was provided by host in email. Answered all questions I had, the inside of the house was beautiful. Tons of amenities provided. We enjoyed our stay and got lucky to catch a beautiful northern lights show on our last day thanks to this property being where it was. Will be returning to this property when we come back.

Lovely, quiet house, with friendly horses down the road! Easy check-in and very responsive host. Expansive views from the house and relatively short drives to various waterfalls and hikes nearby. Great kitchen; had everything we needed for cooking. Loved the hot pot outside too! Hope to return!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The host/property manager was responsive and friendly. The circuit break tripped at 10:00 pm one evening and he graciously walked me through by video call to find and reset the breaker. The house itself shows a little bit of age, but otherwise it's very nice and cosy. It has pretty much everything you need to enjoy time with family. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle area. Rent a 4x4 so you can do the less crowded hiking trails accessible via the many F-roads. Our favorite was Haifoss, but there are many more. Selfoss has a couple of larger grocery stores which you should visit before arriving at the house, but there's a smaller grocery store near by in Flúðir that has the essentials.

My wife and 5 year old and I enjoyed our 3 nights, the hot tub outside was nice and the place felt like home, the owner was responsive and helpful, and it was a good drivable base for day excursions. It was a nice stay, and good house layout.

Von Selfoss Richtung Landesinnere ca. 25 Autominuten entfernt liegt das Haus in sehr ruhiger, fast schon einsamer Lage. Das Haus lässt kaum Wünsche offen, es gibt einen Whirlpool, eine Infrarotsauna, 2 Badezimmer, eine gut ausgestattete Küche mit großem Kühlschrank und Mikrowelle. Die Aussicht aus den großen Fenstern ist fantastisch und kaum Streulicht behindert die Sicht auf die Nordlichter. Die Golden Circle Ziele sind gut erreichbar, wenngleich man sich typisch für Island an längere Fahrtzeiten gewöhnen muss, da man meist nur über Landstraße mit ca 90 km/h unterwegs ist. Ein Allrad Fahrzeug ist aus unserer Sicht nicht zwingend nötig, beruhigt aber die Nerven, wenn man im Winter unterwegs ist. Der Vermieter hat uns auf Kulanz sogar noch einen Nachmittag zusätzlich im Haus verbringen lassen, da die Wetterlage kurzfristig weder eine Autofahrt noch den Rückflug möglich machte. Wir würden auf jeden Fall das Haus wieder buchen.

Very clean. Well stocked. Lots of space. Me and my extended family (two adults, four kids) had a wonderful time.
All three of the bedrooms contain double beds, which were listed as twin beds. This was a little problematic for my teenage son and daughter, but fortunately the hosts provided an extra (fold up) bed for us to use.

This is a fantastic and cozy base to explore the Golden circle. It was spacious, secluded and had all the comforts we wanted. The views are expansive and sunrise/sunset were gorgeous no matter what the weather.

I would highly recommend this home to explore Iceland, particularly the golden circle. It's very close to many things and it's a beautiful private place. The hot tub and sauna's awesome and the beds are very comfortable. The host is really wonderful as well and you will feel supported if you've never been there before. Highly recommend to stay here and enjoy Iceland.

Lage top, beste Ausstattung, sehr sauber, schöne Einrichtung plus Sauna und Whirlpool.
Besonders zu erwähnen ist, dass eine Grundausstattung wie Toilettenpapier, Haushaltsrolle, Gewürze, Öl, Kaffee, Tee, Spülmittel und Waschmiittel vorhanden war. Check in und Kontak war sehr angenehm. Alle Fragen wurden schnell beantwortet.
Der Whirlpool war für unsere Hausauswahl nicht wichtig. War für uns aber nach den langen, manchmal kalten regnerischen Touren ein schöner wärmender Ausklang des Tages.
Zu erwähnen wäre noch das es einen Weber-Gas-Grill gibt. Tolles Fleisch u vernünftigen Preisen gibt's bei Bonos in Selfoss. Meidet die kleinen Supermärkte, es sei denn ihr habt Geld im Überfluss :-;
Bucht das Haus wenn verfügbar. Für uns war es das schönste auf Island.

Magical - Met all expectations
This was an 8 day stay and our goal was to hike and see the wonders of natural Iceland. Here's what we loved about this place:
Location! – best in all of Iceland – we hit gaifoss, landmannalugar, glymur, vic, glacier lagoon, and 5 more amazing canyons and falls – you could travel 15 minutes or 4 hours for amazing hikes. The drives are really nothing because they are in the most beautiful countryside in the world and the sun never set for us. Close for groceries (5 minutes for quick items and 30 minutes for a Kronan store)
Modern kitchen – great cooktop and fridge and dishwasher
Beds – very comfortable, best nights of sleep ever, bring a really good eye covering
Windows – beautiful view of three volcanoes every day and night
Quiet and Private – good sense of being alone (with horses)
Bathrooms – modern, spacious and clean, heating rack for towels, big showers,
We will be coming back.

Home is exactly as advertised. Located approximately an hour from Reykjavik. A car is necessary- day trips are within reasonable driving distance (most key sights are within an hour). Owner very responsive.

This house was very well equipped, you really don't need to take the basics with you, really is a home from home.
The location was great for us, far enough away from it all but everything we wanted to see was within an hour or so drive.

Beautiful property in the heart of the golden circle with sauna and hot tub
Gorgeous property with a wonderful sauna and hot tub, close to the best of the golden circles. The skies are magic at night and the views are lovely, peaceful times and comfortable beds. Thanks for a memorable stay.

Outstanding location, very nice house
We (eight people) really enjoyed our stay at Þrándartún. The house is quite new and has everything you need for daily life and got very good equipment. It also got everything for relaxation: a nice Sauna and a hot pot outside make you feel good every night. The location is really beautiful, you have a very nice view of Mt. Hekla. It`s so peaceful and quite, not far from a river, lots of singing birds and horses around. The location is also perfect for day trips. You easily can reach some of the most beautiful hot spots in Iceland, i.e. the Nationalpark Thingvellir, the waterfall Gullfoss, hot springs with the famous Geysir and lots of other waterfalls along the coast of South Iceland (Seljalandsfoss, Skógarfoss...). A day trip to Landmannalaugar by bus from Selfoss or Hella is also possible. Even Reykjavík is not that far, it's like an hour to get there by car. It´s possible to stay with eight people at Þrándartún, but I would recommend to come with not more than six people, otherwise it could be a bit narrow. There are three bedrooms, each got two beds and two extra foldable beds. But still it`s worth to give five stars.

Le chalet est parfaitement equipé. Nous n avons manqué de rien. La literie est trés bonne. Le confort est ++. Que dire de la vue à 360 sur les champs, petites montagnes et la riviere à proximité sans compter les chevaux... Le spa est un moment tres privilégié. Les instructions sont claires et l hôte est tres avenant Nous étions 4 adultes et 3 enfants. Nous conseillons sans problème ce logement.

Lovely clean and well furnished, modern villa. Superb views and glass frontage to take advantage. Good hot tub and sauna. Great location for Golden Circle, Vik and the capital.
Not a full four stars however as some of the fittings (gas fire) and light bulbs not working. Also cupboards and drawers have owners possessions in them which limits storage space. If the owner were to tidy their possessions into one single locked area then it would feel more 5* and less like borrowing a friend's house ! It was advertised that the gas fire did not work, but given how superb the house is, the owner should repair it as the fire would have made a big difference to the ambience of the house in the long winter evenings.

Week in Iceland
Very modern, clean, well located villa. Good furniture and kitchen although some other amenities were poor. The gas fire was broken (this was advertised) but given how lovely the house was, the owner should repair the fire to complete the experience. A very old HiFi with no Bluetooth had my children amused and bemoaning that the did not pack their own speakers!
Not a big issue, but the reason only 4 stars and not 5, many of the drawers and wardrobes had the owner's possessions in them, which made storage for our clothes an issue. We were a family of 4 with only one suitcase each. If the owner were to consolidate their clothing and stuff into one secure area, then it would feel more like a rented holiday villa and not a friend's house you were borrowing.
All these are easy issues to address and if resolved, would make a wonderful 5* experience

Very nice place to stay
Have just returned from a weeks stay here and it was excellent. The property and location is great, clean and with everything you need for a self catering accomodation. You will need to hire a car if you are staying here as it's out of the way a bit, which is what we wanted.
It's well located to travel to the golden circle, the South cost (Vik) and Selfoss is 30 minutes drive away where there are retaurants and shops etc. This may seem a bit far but if you have never travelled to Iceland before you will discover that everything is quite far apart outside of Reyjkavik.
The host (who we never met) was very helpful and supplied us with all the information we needed for our stay and recommendations for what to do nearby.
I would definitely stay here if I visit Iceland again,

Amazing house in the icelandic countryside
The house is about 30 minutes drive from Selfoss away. Already on arrival we thought, how great the landscape around the house is. Located in the middle of nature, very quiet and nice horses as neighbors. It was very clean, well equipped and perfect for self-catering. In addition, all major attractions (such as Geysir, Gullfoss, National Park Þingvellir) are not far away. The contact with Kjartan was very nice and he gave us good tips for our stay in Iceland regarding excursion tips and shopping possibilities. The information how we find the house and get the key out of the box were also very good. I would recommend this cute house to anyone who also tries to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We were very lucky with the weather and could enjoy this unique sight. This will definitely not be our last trip to Iceland! :)

Absolutely Beautiful!
We absolutely loved our stay. The house is further away from the airport than staying in the main city, but it is worth it. The landscape was amazing. The house was comfortable and nicely decorated, and it was relatively close to many tourist sights in southern Iceland. I loved my stay in Iceland, and we hope to stay at this property again one day soon.
