We had a great time. The place was just as described. We felt safe at this gated community. Also, liked that it was close to some restaurants and stores but not too close to hear the traffic. Loved it.

If you are looking for a beautifully relaxing, peaceful, on-the-ocean rustic getaway...this is it. Very quiet area, easy to get to, and close to wonderful restaurants: Surf, La Fonda, Puerto Nuevo, Ensenada, and the fabulous Valle de Guadalupe vineyards ( MUST go to El Cielo!) or just sit out and listen to the waves and watch the sunsets....definitly a 5 star experience.

Very comforting to know that its in a gated community. The guards were very kind & welcoming. And once inside the community it was awesome to see all the beautiful homes(and those being worked on). So needless to say, it was LOVE at first sight when we laid our eyes upon this home! The decor inside & out was Perfect!! Reminded me of my Grandparents home in Mexico. Very comforting. I love that each room had its own bathroom! The kitchen has everything you need to cook. Although, we couldn't find a cookie sheet so we bought one for the next guests to use. And the view from the home is Beautiful! We loved sitting outside just looing out to tje water watching the dolphins swim by. And it literally felt like we had the beach to ourselves considering that nobody else but us were out there fishing. Could also be since it was way colder than we expected. BUT it didnt stop us from getting out there & catching fish. Looking forward to going back & staying longer next time. We felt like we were at home.

This house is extraordinary! Upon entry, the garden is peaceful and inviting. The house is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The whale watch perch is the place to be for cocktails or cervezas at sunset, and the sound of the ocean is relaxing, whether outside the house or inside. The host is attentive, and stays in touch from the time of booking thru the end of your stay. We will absolutely be coming back. Can't wait!!

Beautiful custom home directly overlooking the ocean! Mary the host was incredibly helpful and generously permitted my two well behaved german shepherd dogs. The entire family enjoyed relaxing in the backyard, collecting shells along the beach during low tide, cooking a family dinner, and setting a fire during a cooler evening while watching a movie. Excellent seafood restaurant 5 minutes away called Splash. Guard gated community with very active security patrols both day a night.Truly a wonderful break.This was our first VRBO experience and will not be our last. Thank you Mary for the opportunity for my family to enjoy a piece of your heaven.

Mary’s place is a beautiful place to watch sunsets and spend some time with your loved ones. The structure of the house is exactly as the pictures really nice house.

A strong odor of mold hit us when we first walked in. It took us a few hours to realize it was coming from the dishwasher. Mary, our host, was very quick to send someone over and clean it out, and while we were never able to use the dishwasher, Mary was very apologetic and accommodating. Still, two people in our party developed reactive airways that would bother them for the entire 4 days we were there.
The non-master beds were not queens, they were full-size. But they were comfortable. The master has good views, but note that it does not have any privacy, since it has open (curtained) archways to the home's interior common areas and kitchen. That makes for tough sleeping.
All in all, the host was kind and flexible with checkout, the home sub-par, and the ocean-front views the real highlight that brightened our spirits.
Couple other notes: few decent restaurants a short drive (not walkable) 5 min south. Beach is cobblestone except at fully drained tide. The surf break looks like it would be fun and private on a W or S swell, but unfortunately was flat while we were there.

The house was wonderful! Great location in front of the ocean. The house is large, well equipped and meticulously decorated. Very quiet and peaceful area. The security is excellent. We enjoyed the large fireplace in the living room. It was terrific hearing the waves all night. Mary was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Sandcastle. We will definitely be back again.

This property exceeded our expectations! This house is beautiful from the front gate, throughout the magnificent garden, all the way through the open and welcoming inside of the home, to the incredible Pacific Ocean front paradise! We will be back....

Such an amazing experience. When you walk in through that whale door to seeing all the greenery out front of the home to the landing spot by the ocean had us in shock. Such a beautiful home. We felt very safe and secured with the guards at the gate guarding the entrance as well. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you Mary for also making it a great experience and replying to any questions we had!

Perfectly Charming Escape
Three couples from church went on an adventure and had a wonderful time! Our stay was just perfect. My husband loves to cook but we are never sure if there will be sufficient kitchen ware at our disposal. The home was fully stocked with nearly anything you might need to cook a gourmet meal (he always brings his own chef knives, such a snob😉)! The gas barbeque was an older model but a little finesse and hubby was able to roast some steaks, veggies and a few chickens.
There is a lovely garden and covered patio between the gated street entrance and the front door. It provided an inspirational shaded shelter for my art making!
The home decor was a mix of Mexican folk artisan and comfortable furnishing with wood and Saltillo tile!
The bathrooms were fully stocked with plenty of cotton Turkish towels, nice touch!
The full window paneled view of the ocean was stunning! We left most of the doors open throughout our stay to hear the crashing waves. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent though, I am prone to bites so they had a feast with me. Of course, hubby went unscathed🤨!
The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was new and crisp.
The water pressure was great and the hot water plentiful!
We enjoyed reading and journaling on the whale watching platform. There was an umbrella for protection from the sun, so many hours idled by doing this! My husband did manage to get into the ocean for a swim but the rest of us were more of the land lubber types...I will say though, although the owners rightly point out the caution needed to brave the steps to the ocean, I found them manageable and ventured down to explore. Make sure to wear water shoes though, as the large pebbled beach made beachcombing a challenge.
All in all, we had a memorable stay!
Last notes...don't use too much soap in the dishwasher and be careful to light the gas fireplace with a minimal amount of gas to start the flame, then increase the valve as needed...just sayin...lol

Wonderful and Relaxing
Great property in a nice and secure community. The house was super cute and bigger than I thought. We enjoyed sitting outside looking at the ocean and enjoying the sunset and the beautiful weather. It was quiet and peaceful. The community is close to shops and restaurants about a five minute drive away and 10 minutes to Puerto Nuevo for lobsters. Great time spent relaxing. Thank you, Mary for your quick responses and your accommodations.

Perfect Getaway
The location was just as described on the profile. The instructions to arrive were very precise. The location was clean and the owner was very accessible. She text me after I arrived to make sure the home was in good condition as expected and if there was anything that was needed to please let her know. We would love to return to this property!

The property is not quite as it's listed. Much of the furniture is different and very dated. Even the patio furniture wasn't there as in the picture. The views are amazing. Being able to see and hear the ocean is wonderful. Many things were rusted, kitchen sink didn't drain, there were cobwebs and what looked like mold on the ceiling in the shower/toilet area. The primary room is not blocked off at all- people need to know that curtains cover 2 walls.
I think this place could be fabulous but it really needs some attention and elbow grease.
Another bug plus is that we could bring our fur babies and they loved it too.

The entry to the house was very simple and quick. The premises felt very safe and the residents at Mision Viejo were very nice. The house sits right on the ocean and you can get to the water by going down several steps. Unfortunately, there was no sand (all rocks this time of year), but it was very beautiful. Restaurants (Splash, Encanto and Puerto Nuevo) were all very close and delicious. The wineries (Valle de Guadalupe) were less than hour drive and very tasty and definitely worth the drive. We definitely will be coming back to Mary's beautiful house. I can't thank you enough for your hospitality.

Sandcastle is a beautiful stay! It is just a hour drive from the boarder crossing, with your own semi-private ocean view. There are so many things to visit in Mexico with just a short drive from the house! Mary was easy two work with and is flexible with your needs. Definitely recommend! Look forward to coming back!

I really dig this place!
Super cool property located in a perfect spot for us. The layout and decore of the house is really cool and the view is amazing. My favorite place to stay in this general area. Well guarded front gate to the area provides a nice sense of security. Huge fireplace in the main room and a secondary gas fireplace in the adjoining room was epic since it was a little chilly during our stay. If you're looking for a unique rustic mexican 3 bedroom place in this area and love the beach you'll love this place.
