Snorkelling, paddle boarding, and kayaking around the resort was incredible. At first, we were mildly disappointed (with humanity, not the resort) because most corals seemed unfortunately dead, but the more we explored, especially during high tide, the more stuff we saw - clownfish (Nemo), Dory fish (Dory), parrot fish, giant parrot fish, giant clams, squids, stingrays, urchins, damsel fish, catfish, and many more we cannot name. We were also very fortunate to see monitor lizards, lots of hornbills, and macaques. The resort has the Marine Ecology Center within it that is trying to boost the growth of corals as well as the local giant clam population, which is fantastic to see. Kayaking in the mangroves during high tide was also excellent. A lot of the food was delicious. And we barely used the infinity pool because we spent most of our time in the sea, but that was nice too. The staff are all very kind!
Nothing against the resort, but the corals are unfortunately mostly dead because of climate change :(. It was still fantastic to see all the incredible marine life we did, and kudos to the resort for hosting the Marine Ecology Research Center there.
4.1
Location, sports activities, service, meals, education on research center’s work to preserve giant clams
Shower (few issues with hot water)

The location is amazing, the staff is very friendly and the spa treatments are really good.
But that’s about it, the rest is a disaster, incredibly expensive and NOT a 5-star hotel. I went there to relax for a few days, it was impossible to relax anywhere.
Nowhere near to be a 5 star resort. The only 5 star thing is the great location and the cost, but it lacks of quality in every details:
1. Wifi missing in the rooms
2. So much trash and plastic all around the villas and on the main beach. If you are 5 star you should put some efforts in cleaning daily or install a barrier system to help cleaning the ocean, especially if you call yourself an Echo resort
3. At check out a man walked in my room while I was still getting ready and I was naked
4. Food in the restaurant is just average, but still is the most expensive of the whole Malesyia
5. The pool is full of debris from the forest, again, keep someone to clean it more times a day if necessary
6. Room was missing of hot water in the shower
7. The water in the bathroom sink didn’t drain
8. The marble surface of the bathroom cabinet was broken in half and the whole cabinet was about to fall apart
9. The lights in the room were making an horrible noise
10. No activities provided
11. The terrace outside was missing of chairs and cushions on the outside bed. Again, not a huge deal, but unacceptable if you are a 5 star resort
Overall, it was just bloody expensive and it was impossible to really relax and enjoy the amazing location.

the food was excellent
extreme amount of trash on water and beach. I did not even want to go in the water. the landscape crew tries to clean it up- but sadly it’s a serious problem. a lot of deferred maintenance- one night I got wet in bed from the roof of my bungalow leaking - the next night both AC units broke due to a leak in the compressor. A lot of broken boards and worn down buildings. the dining room has no nice atmosphere- the lights are so bright and it feels more like a cafeteria- no ambience whatsoever- same with the little bar as the counter just overlooks all the stuff for the bar.
4.1
The ocean view and the staff were friendly and helpful. Especially before we boarded the ferry.
The food is really not that great. Especially if you want to change a large premium for it. Wanting to charge a delivery fee for in room dining is very greedy since we have to eat in resort only.

Everything was incredible from start to end. The staff meet you at the ferry port, private ferry to the resort, manager and staff met us with welcome drinks and and information about the resort. rooms were perfect. food was delicious and every single member of staff was friendly, personable and helpful. it was the highlight of my holiday for so many reasons! I cannot fault it at all.
nothing not to like. it really was perfect!

1. If you are Lucky maybe the trash is not there and the sea is clean. But be careful with the poisonous stingrays. Dont step on them. Anyway there is fuel oil floating always.
2. The local staff is really really kind. The Best part.
3. The chef of the restaurant is really good, although the restaurant is expensive.
4. The Best area is the swimming pool with the views. Although if you are there for long finally you have to consume so you have to spend money for enjoying.
5. If you want to relax with a high price doing almost nothing you may like this place.
Summary: it is extremely expensive for the services offered by this "resort".
Cons:
1. Not so many activities for enjoying. It is like being in a kind if luxurious jail.
2. The free activities (Kayak, paddle board and snorkeling) are available only inside the net that is close to the villas, so it is a small space.
3. The manager is there all the day offering services that are not worthwhile. For example a dinner in the other resort for 130€ pp. The dinner was normal. We were expecting a wine event according to the suggestion but we where 2 couples that where cheated.
4. As the other comments, there is trash floating if the currents bring it, so if u are unlucky you May not want to practice the free activities.
5. There are really AGRESSIVE monkeys. I ve seen many monkeys during my trips, but not like these. Of course this is not the fault of the resort but I cannot relax in my extremely expensive terrace if there are always macacs.
6. As I said, extremely expensive. Specially taking into account the quality of the resort (it is very old as well).
7. They were renovating many villas while we were there. This is unbelievable, with all the noises and trash.
8. There is no Beach and the manager doesnt allow you to go to the other resort, which has a nice Beach.

.The location was beautiful, the staff were very friendly, the food was very good and worth it. The view from the chalets were breath taking..
The beach was small and unfortunately, due to the inconsiderate attitude of nearby villagers and city folks, it was were littered with rubbish. The resort does their best in cleaning it, but the rubbish keeps coming, sadly.
4.1
sea access
fawning staff, pretentiousness, overly stiff servers, no atmosphere, nowhere to go besides the resort

Food was very expensive

the location is really great. my second time being here. a lot changes. The room is nice and clean. we booked an ocean villa, where we can do snorkeling from the deck outside the room, the deck is also great with a really nice view. you can lay down to enjoy the gentle breeze while listening to the ocean wave.
1. we booked 2 nights there, thought we can go to the other resort on the second day with nice beach, which we did two year ago. but they don’t hav this schedule any more. so we did the hike instead of enjoying the beach, but the hiking trail is a bit short and a bit boring as well. so generally one night is enough to stay in Gayana resort since they cancel the return trip to the other resort in another island.
2. there used to have two restaurant, Chinese restaurant and western restaurant, but they shut down the Chinese restaurant, which I like very much. The food in the western restaurant is just so so and not so many varieties. for the two nights staying, we almost ordered every dish in the menu. the most funny dinner set is the BBQ set, which they just put several single dishes in breakfast and lunch menu together. and it’s more pricy than you order every part of the set.
3. they don’t provide enough water, two small bottles of water a day for each room. you have to pay for extra water.
4.1
very good and comfort environment
the check in time was too late and the check out time was too early, almost didn’t get prepare.
4.1
the room is comfy and spacious for family with small kids, service is good, food is good, staff is very attentive and friendly, there are variety of fishes for snorkelling activities

Check in and out went on smoothly, with the help of very kind and welcoming staffs. Its not too far away from kk city, 20 mins by their ferry, and you can have your sort of private and little escape from city life. Complimentary kayak offered. Clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast choices are not too bad:)
Due to the pandemic I presume, not much activities offered. Was there the weekend after Christmas, and was mundane, but the staffs made it bearable. Dinner BBQ needs improvement. If you are looking for a nice beach, it is not the best place to be at.

It was a wonderful memory. Mr. Karl looked closely at the guests and felt that he loved them. He visited our breakfast table and asked about our stay even before his working hours. He is a great manager. Please let other staff learn from him. A little disappointing about the facility is the lack of explanation. They should have explained how to get hot water in the shower room and the boat on the way back. I paid an extra bed for an extra person, but there were so many ants in the bed that I couldn't use it. This is very disappointing. There was an ant in my normal bed and I was bitten. Still, it was a wonderful stay. Except that the swimsuit dried on the balcony flew away in the wind....Thank you for our wonderful stay. Thank you Mr. Karl.

The location is stunning. The bed was also very comfortable and we enjoyed the diving facility on site. Though we didn’t use it, you can enjoy kayaks and paddle boarding free of charge, and the free drink in the ocean view bar between 5-7pm is good too!
The resort needs renovating, its a little tired. They also market themselves as ‘eco’ but every time the cleaners came to refresh the room they left the lights on, ceiling fan on and air conditioning blasting out - despite us being out all day.

The complimentary kayak.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The resorts was sparkling clean.
