What I liked about the jail Accommodation,was the fact there were cameras and a fine system,in operation for people who didn’t wash up and tidy there cooking area!As a result,along side the friendly and efficient staff,resulted in a very clean,and relaxed pleasant atmosphere!

I really love this hostel, it's clean, warm and really well situated. The staff are friendly & helpful. The accommodation while fairly basic is really comfortable.

The only criticism is of the upstairs showers. I had a very hard fall in the shower. I severely bruised my tailbone, cut & broke my toe & received a hard bang to my head. The shower needs to have a hand rail attached & non slip flooring applied. I told the staff this, apparently the manager is aware but has done nothing. 😔😔

Great idea to convert a jail. Enjoyed meeting other inmates. Lights out at 8pm was so funny

No towels provided and had to pay to rent the, I expected towels as it’s a prisoner’s right!!!!

the bed and the noise in the tubes. I could feel the mattress springs. When it turned the heating it makes a noise that does not let you fall asleep and wakes you up in the morning

Very helpful staff. Friendly place that functions well. Location much better than might first seem. Easy walk to Christchurch and in any case, bus route very easy to use. Also Lincoln street shops are very handy and railway station is walking distance with backpack for any reasonably fit person

Internet was not so great in the room but good around communal areas. Not much could be done about the internet as very thick prison walls!

We had visited 13 years ago so we knew what to expect. Basic, reasonably priced accommodation. Other 'inmates' were very friendly. Very conveniently placed for the station for our Scenic Rail Trip.

Trying to get into the property was impossible with the sun shining on the keypad. Luckily someone let us in. Trying to check in was difficult. We were told we'd get an email with our room code. It never arrived. We tried checking in again and, again, no email. Luckily another visitor told us that it wasn't an email but a text so I found it when checking my texts. Wanted to relax in the lounge and read our books but the lighting was so poor that it was impossible.

No human touch, we are not robots.. What to do with the bus with noisy kids that came in the afternoon and no staff around to control?

Probably the cleanest, chilliest hostel I've ever been in. The rooms were also very large and tidy - even with other people in the dorm, you felt like there was plenty of space. The bathrooms and showers were quite decent for a hostel.

The location is a bit out of the way - it's close to the train, but otherwise in a fairly industrial suburban area. Not much of note nearby and an unattractive walk into the city. Also somehow the worst pillows I've ever seen at a hostel. Like a sack of disconnected lumps of foam.

Unique places to stay! Fun that way. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

Very small rooms. Hope that's my only taste of a jail cell! Very fun idea for a hostel!

It's not every day you get to stay/sleep in a old prison after going to a Snoop dogg concert . Amazing experience.

it was a unique property to stay in and the showers and toilets were clean and good to use.

the staff were not that helpful, for the cinema room/lounge area and pool area they were quite worn out and dirty. not comfortable. there were no curtains on the beds

Very clean & hygienic. Very spacious layout with plenty of facilities and different areas. 10 bed room had a toilet which was really handy. Not too far from the centre and a nice cafe round the corner.

Laundry was on the more pricier side and the open hours to do laundry were slightly awkward. The lockers for your belongings in the room are quite heavy and don't hold-up without aid.
