Beautiful old pub, staff were very friendly. Breakfast was nice. Great location as all the tourist highlights are a walk away.
The room faced in to a busy road so it was a bit noisy at night, the room looked tired in its decor but we had everything we needed.

Close to city centre. The staff were friendly and accomodating when we needed to leave early. Really cosy inn.
The extra sofa our kids 12 and 15 sleppt in may be something to update.

Bath could do with another hand rail, as bottom of bath was a bit slipperly when wet

Breakfast was very tasty and cooked well.
The lady who was very helpful and friendly.
We had the window wide open because the weather was hot and it was quite noisy at times until about midnight.
However after a while we found a fan in the wardrobe and this was really helpful.

Il pub tipicamente in stile inglese, la camera caldissima, senza aria condizionata, vecchia e trasandata. La pulizia lasciava molto a desiderare. Finestra del bagno sigillata per non so quale problema, per cui l'aria non circolava. Tende sporche, rotte e ammuffite. Per il caldo abbiamo dovuto dormire con la finestra aperta tutta la notte con il rumore assordante di macchine e sirene che passavano da Lawrence St. Materassi ormai da buttare. Niente frigo. Dimensioni inferiori a quelle dichiarate. Moquette vecchia e maleodorante. Se il proprietario investisse nel rinnovamento delle stanze la struttura potrebbe avere un buon potenziale, ma al momento da evitare.

windows were single glazed and sleep was interrupted several times by drunken people walking past at 3 in the morning and trucks from 4am. Breakfast was very very slow. To say it only has five rooms, to have to wait nearly three quarters of an hour for the actual breakfast after the drinks had been brought was a bit too much

The pub is easy walking distance to many restaurants and the centre of York.

The character of the building and parking. Providing delicious gluten free options as I am coeliac, the staff had a very good understanding of the diet and cross contamination even coming with a little flag on the plate which stated gluten free. The breakfast was delicious.

Exceptional. Loved our stay for two nights. Fabulous location. Short walk into the hub of York. Lovely cosy room with free parking. Excellent breakfast. Had a gorgeous evening meal, the pies are certainly the best in York. Friendly staff . Just amazing

Rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable and warm!
The side gate to enter after 11pm would not open with the key. I had to climb the fence to open it from inside

Location is superb. Lovely little cosy pub with very welcoming staff, comfortable facilities and a warming environment as soon as you enter through the door.
Pub is only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of York and has parking should you travel by car.
Would definitely recommend for another stay in York and to family and friends
The room we stayed in was spacious and inviting.
The room was tidy and there were plenty of amenities accessible to us. However, the room could have been a little bit cleaner ie carpets hoovered a bit more and the bathroom cleaned a little bit more. Overall a lovely stay and would come back.

The Rose and Crown is a really good place to stay. Location to the city is very good. 15 mins. Accommodation is warm. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are really friendly. Great place to leave your car with good parking facilities. Would recommend.
I don't like to be critical of the Rose and Crown but a couple of things could do with a little improvement. In the room we stayed the bathroom light over the sink was not working and the shower could do with a little TLC.

The room could have been cleaner, dust on lampshades and in cupboards. Bathroom needed more attention too especially toilet. It was noisy although did expect that as sash windows on a main road into york

Food was delicious and room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was any trouble for them and we were really well looked after.
Very noisy due to the position of the pub. It was on a corner which had traffic passing constantly and students returning to the university, we did get used to it though.

Fab hotel with very friendly staff Simon was great and the Chef certainly a Chefs kiss menu rooms were good for our needs only complaint Chamber maid could come daily. Will definitely stay again next year.
All good another visit from chamber maid would have made it a perfect 10.

Pillows uncomfortable but quickly remedied. Close to busy road so had to close window at night to keep noise out. Fan provided though

The property is a lovely old style pub which we prefer over hotels, great that you could park on site and not a overly large beer garden. Hosts and all the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was great, nice menu that catered for all and the breakfast had a great choice of cooked as well as continental with different drinks. It took about 10 mins to walk in to the middle of town which was nothing.
Only down fall was the window in our room felt like it was open permanently you could hear people’s conversation as they passed at 3am 🙈 I kkk no one they are old sash windows but maybe a little attention is needed.

Perfect location for sightseeing in the city. Fantastic breakfast and the staff were extremely hospitable making us feel welcome from our arrival to our departure. Easy FREE parking on site!
The towels were changed daily and the tea boat restocked but that was it. Up to you to wash out your cups ready for a cup of tea next morning. No big deal. One thing we would have liked was a toilet brush.
