The pool rocked, however, the HUGE wall to the west blocked the sun later in the day.
Nice rooms with lots of interesting carving.
THE GOD DAMN CHURCH next door built 7 days a week from 7:30 am until 9:30 pm everyday. It was RIGHT below my window. Coba is small and the chickens crowing at 5:30 sucked.
Great little food stall lady cooking at the street of the restaurant. Great "fast food" chow!!!
the construction next door.
the barking dogs.
The cackling poultry

Clean room, interesting interior
Roosters!!! I asked for a quiet room, and the receptionist told me that the room with a garden view was tranquil. But it wasn't! It was terrible. This was not a "Garden view"; that was a view of someone's backyard with a henhouse where several roosters started to yell at night right under the balcony and then nonstop at 4 am. Instead of enjoying the stay, we had to leave the hotel earlier because it was too loud! They should have mentioned on their website that they don't have quiet rooms. Also, there are some questions about fire safety. At 6 am, we were locked in the hotel territory, with nobody to ask how to find the way out. Thankfully one side door was opened, and we got outside.

It was clean and breakfast was good but nothing special :)
The bathroom was very small, it was not even possible to sit on the toilet because you bumped with your knees to the wall in front of the toilet :D
The bed was too short for my 198cm husband but it was in most of the mayan places

Hammock area, room decor, towels folded into animal shapes, comfy beds, coffee available in the foyer, breakfast fruit plate, lovely carved bedroom doors, allowed us to check in early, hummingbird sighting in the morning
Looked over a lot of rubbish and rubble behind the church next door, lack of (accurate) information on buses,

they robbed us at dinner. The waiter lied about the malfunction of the payment terminal and made me pay for dinner twice. After finding out, I wrote back to the hotel and they again lied to me that they would solve everything, they just had to verify everything. They stopped communicating after 3 emails. Even worse, the wife got food poisoning during dinner, passed out and had another 4 days of vacation ruined. She only had to eat crackers and was physically unable to enjoy all the attractions and sights we were scheduled to visit. I definitely do not recommend this hotel, they will poison you and even rob you and still pretend to help you.

staff and location were more than exceptional
the roosters next door were very loud as early as 3 am

Service was execellent, the lady in the reception was very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and the food in the restaurant too. Good value for money! Rooms were clean and the pool was nice bonus. Seating areas (the one on the second floor and the one on the yard with hammocks) were nice places to chill. And there were also playing area with toys, which our kids loved!
We liked everything! If you have to mention something, maybe it was the fact that we didn’t have a window in our room (exept the one facing the corridor). It really didn’t bother us cause we didn’t spend so much time in the room, but for some people it may be an issue.

This is the hotel recommended by Lonely Planet, although the name in the book is slightly different (Hotel Maya) and think link in the ebook doesn't work.
That being said, some of the points there are valid: this is an unbeatable value, very clean hotel, with nice sculpted doors, included breakfast, air conditioning, walking distance to the Coba ruins.
Oh, there is a pool as well, however we did not feel like using it with our kids. We arrived relatively late, tired and the pool wasn't that inviting.
It was just a tad noisy around 9-10 PM when we were trying to sleep early.
I wish there was off street parking, however I realize that is hard to change.
The water pressure in the shower can get incredibly low, probably depending on usage in the hotel.
We had dinner at their restaurant, Chile Picante, and we have not been impressed with the food at all. The prices however have been very reasonable, much lower than in Playa del Carmen for instance.

the room and overall facility were very clean, and the owners very friendly. it felt very welcoming. the pool was immaculate and welcome in the heat, and the beverages for sale were ample, so i could always get something good to drink.
the food. i understand the restaurant needs to cater to guests who may not want local fare but i wish there were more options for using fresh local veggies and recipes. i only ate at the restaurant because of convenience. also, the tile floors down the hallway are wayyyyy too slick - it was treacherous with any damp feet coming from the pool.

the restaurant and staff was awesome, rooms were very well done, clean and we slept great. the best part was feeling like part of the family when staying there.
can’t complain, the entire town was fun and we had a lot of fun with Luis from the staff. he made our trip comfortable and bent over backwards to accommodate us.

Rooms and whole hotel was very clean. It was also really nice. Personal was super nice and smiling all the time. Considering the price we were very pleasantly suprised. Breakfast was great. It was quite close to the ruins and with car or taxi you can get to very nice cenotes easily.

Hotel Mayahau is ideally located as it's a 10-min walk from the Coba ruins (the tallest Maya temple in the Yucatan and the second tallest in the whole Maya world). The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming (you have to speak basic Spanish though). The swimming pool is peaceful and the patio was very cute! The bedroom is large and feels authentic. The food at the restaurant was one of the best in our trip in the Yucatan!

Great breakfast in the airy upstairs restaurant, nice pool and chill-out area, big comfortable beds, friendly staff, 7mins walk to the Coba ruins

The roosters roared all night

Breakfast was good with lots of fruits and fresh orange juice. The bed was comfortable. It's close to Coba ruins.
The roosters and dogs were noisy even in the night. As others mentioned, Booking.com quote my room rates in USD, but she charged me in MXN at higher rate to take additional $10. You need to calculate the room fee in MXN with the currency app to get the correct number.

Charming traditional Haciénda style property. Well located. Easy parking just outside. Lovely ceramic tiles, beautiful wooden carved doors, big pool. Spacious room. Nice to have coffee and water available. Breakfast exceptionally good. Staff could not have been kinder or more patient. Stone’s throw from an attractive lake and the very interesting Cobá ruins.
Room 8 the tap in the wash basin was just a trickle and while the shower worked it didn’t run hot. The coffee pot needs changing more often and not be allowed to go stale and cold.

Breakfast could improve, but it was still good enough :)

Well organized and reasonably sized room (e.g. shower and toilet separated)
Great breakfast (generous fruit platter + toast etc. + spanish omelette
Nice pool good for swimming
Walking distance to archaeological site
My BBQ chicken in the adjacent restaurant was inedible
Beware: They quote their room rates in USD, but (try to) charge you in MXN at a fantasy rate of 22 (currently slightly above 20). So better pay in USD and save almost 10%.
Room has no outside windows, so you need lights all day

This hotel has really Nice location. Near Mayan ruins. It's lead by family. Breakfast is included and it's very delicious. We spent there charmful moments. If you need a place to rest it's the best choince. Upstairs there is a restaurante with delicious food.
