Room was very clean & spacious, staff friendly & very accommodating. Excellent location & great value for money. Can't wait to come back in the near future.

It's a family run Inn, and the hosts Simon and Caroline were very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile. Nothing was too much trouble. Simon gave us lots of advice on interesting places to visit. We celebrated our wedding anniversary while we were there, and it was made really special by the care and attention they gave to us.
We will visit again.
There was nothing we didn't like.

Lovely country pub with tastefully decorated and very comfortable room. We received a warm welcome and can confirm the beer and cider is perfect! We also enjoyed the delicious freshly cooked breakfast.

The warm welcome, the cosy atmosphere, the quiet location, the great food, the comfortable bed and superb duvet.

We enjoyed our stay immensely.
Our host, Simon, was very helpful and so interesting. He gave us tips on what to visit and the history of the area. And Chris behind the bar was great! The food was fantastic and they have a good wine selection. We found our room to be very comfortable
It is a bit tricky driving through the lanes to get there, but well worth the effort. Depending on which way you travel you can avoid most anyway. Loved it all

The warm welcome, Simon and Caroline are excellent hosts! The room was spacious with a great view, the bed really comfy, bathroom had everything we needed. The rooms were seperate from the Inn which meant they were quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and had an excellent evening meal - loved the bar & garden, both very relaxing and Simon ensured our glasses remained full as we sat and chatted in the bar and enjoyed a relaxing evening with family which we'd not done in years. Most important it's dog friendly!!
There's nothing we didn't like - a very minor comment for the sake of saying something the rooms could do with a very small fridge, our family had bought cheese in Cheddar and needed to keep it cool overnight. My 92 year old Mum climbed the stairs easily (rooms are on the first floor) but couldn't get into the shower above the bath (the shower is excellent) - not a problem as we were there just overnight (twice) but worth noting for other potential guests.

This place is a hidden gem, The Notley Arms is a privately owned pub/restaurant/ accomodation run by Simon and Caroline. The hosts with the most warmth/ care and attention to their guests. I was welcomed by Simon, who clearly loves what he does, they are both people’s people. The interior is beautifully styled, I could have stayed for a week. To eat I had a ribeye steak cooked to perfection by Bryony, the best steak and chips I’ve had in years, why do so many pubs get it wrong? Bryony is also a fountain of local knowledge, with lots of tips on great hidden places to walk and visit. I came for the weekend on my motorbike and was made to feel at home. Simon and Caroline cooked and served up a lovely breakfast, all excellent quality local produce. There’s not many places like this in the whole of the UK, as Arnie says,’ I’ll be back’!!!

lovely pub interior
all was good but the ground floor rooms in the coach house are rather dark

Lovely location on edge of Exmoor. Great host and food. Pub is a bit quirky and more of an eating pub.
Car could get blocked in if parked directly outside accommodation. Room was functional but layout a bit weird with TV to left wall of bed so if you wanted to watch programme you would get a crick in your neck. Also the corridor outside room quite noisy when other guests returned and walls not the thickest.

The pub and restaurant were very quaint, cozy, and welcoming
The walls are very thin between rooms so you can easily hear others. Rooms are also a bit outdated

Friendly welcome. Excellent food. Festive without being overwhelming.
Reading lights in the bedroom were a bit low for our aging eyes.

My husband and i loved our two day stay in the Notley Arms . The room we stayed in was beutiful with a four poster bed with excellent quallity bedding. The food was exeptional and the sunday dinner one of the best weve tasted for a long time.Simon is a lovely man and very welcoming .I would definitely stay here again in this lovely part of the country.

Clean and tidy. Good parking.
Room was not as spacious or luxurious as expected. Restaurant meals were more expensive that we expected. Breakfast was well presented but quite small.

Simon the owner of the Notley Arms went above and beyond with me and all the other guests to be friendly, hospitable and helpful. Breakfasts were very good and I also ate dinner (Bombay Aloo followed by the Cheese Board) Excellent selection of local cheeses and beers. I was assigned to the last single room available which was all Simon had left when I booked.
As mentioned I booked at short notice and was given a shoebox but it had everything I needed.

The staff were super helpful and friendly
The food was absolutely amazing
The room had some thoughtful ideas that bigger chains don't provide
The bathroom seemed a little tired but was clean
Walls are thin and a little soundproofing wouldn't go amiss, however having said that once everyone had settled down for the evening the village was extremely peaceful

Lovely accommodation, lovely clean, large room, nice bathroom and good shower over bath. Quiet location, no discernible traffic noise. Very nice dining lounge and sofa areas, log fire, friendly bar, lovely hosts, classy and relaxed atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and the menu covered from a reasonable lower price up to some more expensive fare. The breakfasts were perfectly adequate and very tasty - some previous reviewers had complained about the small size of them, but honestly, how much did they expect to eat at that time in a morning - our breakfasts of juice, cereal, together with a full Exmoor cooked platter and freshly-prepared was very, very tasty - quite obviously of high quality locally-sourced products and very very filling. Generally, from the stay, we had no real complaints.
The wine list was very extensive, although, like most folks I know, the lower end of £22 for a bottle is still too much, but it was my birthday meal on the Sunday, so it wasn't really an issue, but did put us off wine for the second night. I suppose, across the board, in most hotels, pubs and restaurants, these wine prices are about the same these days, so we weren't surprised. the wine chosen was lovely though, it has to be said. The addition of a discretionary service charge [10% in this case] has crept in to many of our recent stays, post-covid, and with it already priced on the bill at the end, it becomes difficult to ask for it to be removed without making one feel a little mean spirited, knowing that it goes to help the serving-staff wages. We, almost always tip, but prefer to do this off our own initiative. However, none of this affected the view of our stay, as it was a very enjoyable stay in a very well-run, friendly and relaxing inn.
