リビングが食事場で、宿泊者同士で飲み会しました
カプセルホテルの様な寝床で、廊下の照明が暗く陰気臭かったです

Shiretoko Village was an excellent hotel. The breakfast was a traditional Japanese buffet style (called "Viking" in Japanese). The food was very good - and I am not a breakfast person usually! The room was also comfortable (4-person family room) and was in the annex building. The onsen was simple but perfect - a nice square area with two baths: a "colder" one (still very hot) and an (extremely) hot one. If you like hotel onsen and very hot baths, you will enjoy this one.
For someone who did not have a car, walking to and from Shiretoko Utoro took about 15-20 minutes. Some other people mentioned an afternoon bus in their reviews but I asked (in Japanese) and they were not sure what I was referring to. Keep this in mind when you book this place. It is better to come by car.

The beds are cozy and comfortable and the living area is very comfortable for hanging out.
It's not the property's fault but many trails in the area are closed.
I'm not sure why I was not automatically assigned a lower bed bc there were plenty of lower beds but the clerk was very flexible when I asked to change to a lower bed.

Loved the dinner and Onsen experience

3.8
Efficient everywhere, good interaction with travellers
Lack of ventilation in men’s toilet in the annex building

A simple room but generally clean and nice to have a shared onsen. Pretty location.
We were opposite the onsen and the door kept on banging all night. A simple fix to the doors so they don’t slam would be good. Also it was hot when we stayed and unfortunately no air conditioning. Finally there was no shared cool space to relax in.

Nice hotel with amazing food. Onsen is nice. The room was very small, which felt out of touch with the price. Would be nice if they offered shuttles to the station.

Location
You are being put in a hostel across the road and not in the main building. You can use the basic onsen.
Rooms are far too expensive for what you get (only fan and small, warm and smelly room with nothing but a tv and futon beds for 100 euro and no breakfast lead to our worst experience in Japan, sorry). Strange thing is that hallway has aircon but rooms which need this badly have not?

Perfect location for trips in Shiretoko NP. Spacious & clean tatami rooms. Private and common onsens are very nice. Close to convenience store and many restaurants.
If you want to book breakfast you have to tell them 3 days in advance the staff told us when we asked.

I did not like this place at all
I disliked the boy who checked me in and I did not like how far from the town the hostel is or that there is no shower in the facility or that it was the most expensive dorm room I paid for in my 1 month so far in Japan
3.8
Rich breakfast, Onsen (private + open), many water dispensers
Room interior old, room a bit smelly, only hot shower in the onsen
3.8
The breakfast was very good!
Common shared toilets

Private onsen is great with a great outdoor view
No private shower unless you pay for private onsen

Got upgraded from a bunk to a room. The onsen water is nice and hot.

The staff was so helpfull, the room was very nice and the praivet onsen amazing...
3.8
Staff went above and beyond to help us organise our trip around Shiretoko. Nice to have access to the onsen included. Fridge and microwave were helpful. Cosy sofa area in the hostel.
3.8
Very comfortable room, fabulous natural onsen inside the building with great view of the wood, staff very kind (they offer me for free a private room instead of the dormitory). Looks like a big mountain cabin.
It's about 800 meters up the hill from the bus terminal and convenience stores. Is not so bad but if you have heavy luggage it can be a problem.

Really enjoyed this hotel on the edge of the Shiretoko park. We had booked walking/swimming on the Pack Ice as well as a snowshoeing trip through toursbylocal - our guide was Frederic - French origin and spoke perfect English. The hotel had a great restaurant for dinner with great local food. As well as the standard Onsen there were private ones and we used one of these. we would have really liked to stay another night

Everything was amazing. The location was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. The staff are very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to assist us on multiple occasions. The facilities, including the onsens, are also wonderful and the food was unbelievably good.
3.8
The staff were very friendly. the location is very close to Shiretoko National Park. Microwave was available. The front entrance has a cool lodge aesthetic.
The room smelled heavily of bug spray and kerosene from the heater. The bug spray worked because there were several dead bugs on the floor. Some were alive and even crawled on the futon.
I used the onsen but it was very dirty. The shower area felt grimy and the onsen hot bath water was brown and murky and smelled terrible. I could not see my foot at the bottom because the water was so brown. This place could be very cozy if it were thoroughly cleaned and the smells were taken care of.

every stuff was so nice to me. Yamada san picked up some tourist which are so nice. they are so flexible for what I wanted.
shower in bathtub are so bad because time of running water is very vary short time. I don’t think anybody like it.
3.8
Onsen, confortable beds, kind staff
A smell of urine in our beds and rats/mouse dumpings beside/under our beds!
Dryer didn't dry our clothes after 90 min!
Dryer in the main building is more expensive than in the other building : why?
Toilets have not been cleaned up in 3 nights.
3.8
They updated my booking, so instead of dormitory I got a private room. Really appreciated.
By foot it' a bit up to the hill far from convenience store and shops.
3.8
They upgraded my room, very appreciated! The onsen is fine and it is open all the night.
The room did not have a wonderful smell, but this is a place for backpackers, so it was bearable. There isn't a place to meet and chat with other guests, a must in this kind of hostel. The hostel is located a bit far from the town, so it takes a rather long walk if you want to have dinner out.
3.8
Big shower room with onsen.
Extremely poor sound insulation which means you can hear everything happening in the corridor. Even people simply walking by the room becomes very loud.
Although the check-out is at 10am, the staff started to clean loudly empty rooms and the corridor (including vaccuming) from 8am without care of other guests.
To avoid if you are looking for a good night of rest.
3.8
The place is quiet and next to the forest.
The staff are not helpful. The onsen spring water temperature is extremely hot, so you can't enjoy it.
3.8
massively overpriced.
