Very friendly staff and accommodating even with our stay at the hotel. I highly recommend this cave hotel.

Hotel was great. Hotel stated they sent me a message through What’s up App not to drive to the hotel because it is in a restricted area and you are required to have authorization to drive in the area. I don’t have the what’s up app so I was unaware of the restriction and received a traffic citation.

Amazing experience! Not only the place is amazing (it is a suite built in the rocks=sasso) but the genuine concern for the guests begins even before the arrival (they contacted in advance providing information and giving alternatives for parking as the hotel is in a restricted traffic zone). Owner and team are very nice and approachable.

Great stay in a grotto. The staff was great, excellent location in the old town of Matera and the breakfast was superb. I wish the Wi-Fi was better and the room did have a musky odor from being a cave but all in all a great experience.

I would rate this hotel 10 stars if I could! The staff were absolutely lovely, and contacted us via WhatsApp the day prior to our stay to give us parking instruction, which was very helpful! The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, and the breakfast spread was excellent. Matera is a stunning city, with wonderful locals and great dining options and bars. Possibly my favourite spot visited in Puglia.

The cave room was incredible - one of our favorite rooms we've stayed in with a nice shower, huge tub and nice amenities. The patio outside offered a wonderful view. We loved Matera and will definitely stay here again if we return.

Exceptional rooms in a boutique hotel in an incredible location, at walking distance to every point of the old city. The contrast between the ancient location and exterior, the feat of building upon an old cave that has to remain nevertheless intact, the refined interiors with state-of-the-art furniture and facilities: Italian design at its best. Delicious breakfast that can be enjoyed outside. Elisabetta is a delight to deal with, and Nico directed us to an excellent restaurant: La Gatta Buia, where we fell in love with the fried peperoni cruschi.

We spent 2 nights here. The inn appears to be run by two sisters one of which reached out to us immediately after the booking to communicate some details about parking, etc and her English was great. She reached out again a day or two before our arrival again to ask for our car details and said that there was a valet who would take the car if we came directly to inn. We arrived and had a lot of trouble finding it as it is tucked upstairs off the Main Street and had to lug out suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. The second sister was there and her English was not great at all. The room was very nicely appointed and very clean. However we could not get the fan to work properly and there is no one who stays on the property to address questions to. The second night i went out to ask about a dinner reservation And the second sister was on the phone talking to her sister about what she was making for dinner and left me standing there for close to five minutes- the. she seemed very put out and told me we didnt need one. The restaurant turned out to be quite crowded. Check out was also a bit of a let down as us and another couple both hard cars with the parking company. The second sister called them and then left the property before they arrived and we had no contact information for the car company. it was all a bit disappointing.

The city is a warren of streets and stairs, a lot of stairs, to explore. We were there in October and at night, when the Sassi is lit up, it's magical and almost deserted, perfect for wandering around pre dinner. Highly recommend this gem of a hotel.

This is an amazing cave hotel. Great service and beautiful rooms. Only 4 rooms and breakfast is great with lovely friendly staff.
