Perfect location for hospital visits. Food was a problem, cafeteria was poor. Little selection and not fully stocked.

The room was a very nice single and the desk clerk was super-helpful. However, I think the description of the hotel needs to be expanded—it’s almost misleading by the omissions. The hotel is attached to a hospital—you literally have to enter the hospital doors to get to the hotel. The paid parking is outside, a block away from the hotel. There are no luggage carts, etc. I parked in a taxi zone to unload my luggage and haul it to my room before parking. However, the room was nice and had a good view, though the window was quite small. The included breakfast was very good.

The property was clean and everyone was helpful and courteous. The rooms were sparse when it came to amenities and the room was just given fresh towels during the week (no cleaning service) and there was no room servicing on Sunday. We wish it was clearer that the hotel was part of the university hospital and on the outskirts of town - not in town. While close on a map to downtown Tromsø, taxi fares were quite high and buses were inconvenient to go into town, for activities, or to the airport.

The hotel is next to the hospital, yet it does not feel as such. Great place to stay

I had no idea this hotel was in a hospital, we had to park a bit away and it was extremely hard to find the main entrance because we didn’t know the hotel was in the hospital. Beds extremely narrow but the room was very clean.

it is the same hotel address as the hospital. nice and clean. a little bit expensive to be honest. but good one.

Very good breakfasts. Good views from bedroom. WiFi and TV all worked very well in room. No coffee +tea making facilities in room. Soap container empty in bathroom + no tissue box in bathroom or bedroom.

Hotel is very clean and tidy, but it must be clear that it is attached to the university hospital. This is a little strange as you walk through the hospital entrance to get to the reception, and the canteen is shared. As long as this is not an issue the hotel is more than acceptable, with a very clean room and nice bathroom.

The hotel is really good value for money compared to what you will pay if you stay at a hotel in town. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and buses run frequently and it was never a problem for us to get to town even with heavy snow. It is kind of strange staying at a hotel in a hospital but the rooms are great and the breakfast selection is really good.

The hotel room is nice and spacious and the breakfast buffet is very good. The hotel shares the same entrance as the hospital, but one you know it doesn’t bother too much. It located a few km from city but has a good bus connection. We caught a taxi back to hotel after the chasing lights tour, cost around 220 NOK.

Excellent hotel and facilities for the price. Although the hotel is away from the city centre. Bus No 20 will take you to the city centre in 10 minutes. The bus stop is just below the hotel.

On the first day I had business at the campus, it was great that I was staying on site. The next day an hours walk took me to town. You can also walk to the airport. Some bike rental facility would be great (actually maybe there was one, but it wasnt advertised).

Stayed at Pingvinhotellet 1 night only having arrived at Tromso airport at 19:30. No airport bus on a Saturday or Sunday to the location/area of hotel. Caught taxi 210NOK, bus fare is 100NOK each so the taxi was a good. Taxi dropped us in basement service area. Pressed a buzzer & someone from reception let us into the hotel. Check in was easy, small shop next to reception, & an island where we purchased baguettes. Room smallish and basic, spotlessly clean, no tea/coffee making. Two comfortable single beds. Breakfast on the floor below reception & was excellent I left to collect rental car from airport. returned to the hotel, eventually. No clear pick up/drop off area & exit from reception is long walk to a road with no clear parking. If there is a sign indicating that it was Pingvinhotellet then I couldn't see it. Check Google Maps before you go so that you know what the hotel looks like. I parked in a service yard having driven past signs that (I think) said taxi and buses only. I assume this is why the taxi dropped us in the basement area. The hotel not close to the City Centre we've been to Tromso before & used the hotel as an overnighter. Not suited to travellers or anyone on holidays! Feels very much like a hospital... derr...it is in a hospital and the room felt clinical and very much like a hospital room. Entrance is through the hospital which is unacceptable, uncomfortable and confronting. There is no seperate hotel entrance. The beds in the room were the narrowest single beds ever and have medical alarm buttons beside them . Very distressing place. We left early forgoing a nights accommodation just to get out of the place. We left via the disabled entrance and witnessed 2 coffins being loaded into hurses!!! This place is not suited to tourists on vacation as it is not a place of leisure. They should not be allowed to sell these rooms to tourists. They are really only suited for hospital patients and families. Completely dissatisfied and unable to get a refund for the night when we didn’t stay. Beware....If you are on holidays don’t stay here. If on the other hand you are ill or a loved is, then this will be a very convenient place to stay.

The hotel\room was clean and very good value for money in the somewhat expensive town of Tromso, but it was not clear in any of the promotional material that this was actually a hospital hotel and that you in fact walked through half the hospital to check in or get to your room. The door was also locked after 22:00 and needed to buzz reception to get in, which was not always convenient\fast. Included breakfast was very good and added to the value, but advertised parking was more limited than expected as it was shared with hotel visitors and cost about 20 Euro per day. Town was beyond walking distance, so either a bus (slow), taxi or drive (paid parking) away. Would be very good for people visiting family\friends in hospital, but not so good for tourists.
