Great small hotel, whole city os walkable. Tons of shopping in the area.

Pro: good location. Cons: bathroom sink drain very slow. Hot water in shower gone in 5 min. Bed placement: hit leg several times walking around it. Person at check in wouldn’t check us in until the second it turned 3:00 PM. Parking can be a challenge.

Walking distance to downtown and the beach. The most affordable place you'll find in the area, by far. It's not fancy, but if you'll be spending most of your time outdoors, it's perfectly fine for a clean bed & hot shower.

Our door didn’t lock so we couldn’t stay here. No one around and no one to contact we had to book elsewhere

I hate leaving negative reviews. I review a lot, and this is my second negative review. I feel I need to say something to warn travelers about this hotel. Like many, you may want to book this hotel because it is one of the cheapest in Carmel. However, if you get there and your room is filthy, as mine was, you need to either stay and put up with it, or leave. Carmel is very expensive and you might have a hard time finding another room at or close to the rate you booked somewhere else. It could really put a damper on your weekend. I get the room is cheaper than some of the other hotels. That doesn’t mean the management can skimp on cleaning and basic hygiene for the rooms. I’m not complaining about the cardboard-like soap chips they give you in a plastic basket, or the dripping paint on the walls, or the broken heater, or disheveled fireplace, which we couldn’t figure out how to turn on. I’m really unhappy about the disgusting comforter and moldy bathtub plug. Neither had been cleaned in a long time. I didn’t discover these things until late at night when we were cold. In the morning I told the gentleman in the office. He listened politely, was courteous and apologized, but didn’t offer to refund or reduce my rate. I really don’t love paying full price for a filthy room. If I had discovered these things before I had gotten in bed, I would have checked out and gone somewhere else. I had the creeps all night thinking about their cleaning standards.

The floor was dirty and not clean in the room. The bathroom tub epoxy was almost all off and chipped off. Chipped paint and furniture.

it has a very limited parking space, probably just 10 spots alltogether. Most of the parking spaces on the street are limited to 2 hours. The room is huge, but somewhat outdated.

The Wayfarer is a cute little inn a few blocks from down town. The owner, Mike, is very friendly and helpful. The inn is in need of some renovations, which i was told are in process. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. Those are imprtant to me. I have stayed there before, and have already made reservations to return. The age of this inn gives it alot of character. The prices are excellent for Carmel, which is a huge plus.

Booked this hotel as it looked really charming on the websites and it was an amazing stay!! The room had a king bed and 2 twins and the beds were all SO comfortable!! All the staff was so friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommend staying here :)

I love this place. Simple and convenient

our room was big and had windows on two sides. the hotel was close to restaurants and activities. the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the quiet evenings on the property. thanks for a great stay.

Entire property is tired, outdated, and in dire need of maintenance. Power went out for a few hours and- while no fault of hotel’s - they failed to pass along the notice they received. Also, many things didn’t work. Given it was a very big event week, we appreciated Hotels.com rate. However, when I asked about possibly extending one night, the offer was nearly three times the rate we had paid for the previous 3 nights. Also, did not appreciate their unsolicited warning “if you don’t return your keys within 10 minutes of check out you will incur an additional $50 charge.

Pretty dumpy room

The location of this property is the best and can’t be beat. Walkable to all the town including coffee shops and restaurants. It could use some updating but it’s a fair price for as it is now. :)

Very comfortable accomodations. FAST checkin. Walk to many food options. Very quiet. Nice linens and towels. Really enjoyed my stay here and would look to stay here again.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Caramel Wayfarer and we would definitely return. We did leave something behind and Mike went out of his way to have it returned to us

The site needs better access for those who are disabled. Also stairs need to be refurbished. The one in the courtyard is in disrepair

The property was in disrepair in many areas. Some of the railings were damaged and downright dangerous. The pain was peeling off in many areas. The stairs had non-slip patches mostly worn off. In the room, the shutters were not maintained and did not work properly. One of the lamps was broken and tilted to one side. The bathroom sink faucet was wiggly. We had stayed at this place about 10 years ago and thought it was OK. We will be removing this place from our list of places in Carmel.

Way too noisy. You hear cars, people talking in street, and neighboring unit. Hear every door closing in motel. Walls are way too thin. Got no sleep.
