Hotel was lovely and clean. Ate lunch in the bar which was lovely. Dinner service was very slow and food could have been improved upon.

Very nice and hardworking staff. They ran out of pastries at breakfast and they seemed short-staffed.

Lovely spa, friendly staff and excellent massages

Amazing hotel with amazing decoration in all areas. Spa area lovely. Restaurant served excellent dinner and breakfast. We stayed in room 3 which was amazing. Every staff member was incredibly polite and courtesy. And...the car park has 2 free electric charging points. Result. We stayed for 1 night and definitely stay again.

A beautiful hotel with stunning surroundings. One of the best spas we've been too and the service was also excellent.

We stayed for 2 nights in the main part of the hotel , the room was lovely with beautiful furnishings (some might say a little over the top but we loved it) I used the spa which was also lovely. We ate in the Badger restaurant both nights & although the menu is limited the food was excellent especially the lemon tart. All the staff were so friendly & helpful with nothing being too much trouble in both the hotel & spa.

Such a lovely hotel! Feels like straight out of storybook. The hotel has so much character and has a very relaxing vibe. The spa may be one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel. All the staff were friendly and very welcoming. Would highly recommend for a weekend away!

Lovely hotel stay. Spa facilities were superb. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere - very tranquil and calm, just right for a relaxing getaway. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The only slight disappointment was the food at dinner - overpriced for what it was and not particularly well-cooked. Although the pre-dinner nibbles offered good value at only a fiver. Otherwise, everything else about the hotel is excellent.

Beautiful hotel and lovely decor throughout we are in badgers on the evening which was very good only suggestion would be to have tables and chairs on the lawns and to have an alternative menu to the tasting menu in the fine dining restaurant which is underused

Stayed pre pandemic Mar 2020. Many people were cancelling but kept work commitments snd was well cared for here. Great food, accommodation, and downtime between work days.

Lovely hotel and spa. Has been refurbed and really nice, stylish but comfy. Spa is lovely and well done out and relaxing. The restaurant was really high quality and good value (save for wine list)

We came away to celebrate my husbands birthday. Totally refurbished since my last visit. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. My only criticism was that the dining room was dimly lit so it was difficult to read the menu in the colour that it was printed. The waiter at the end of our meal presented him with a beautifully written plate with Happy birthday on it with some delicious truffles incorprated. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Yes our room was a little cramped like others have said but very welcoming and comfortable none the less. A great place to celebrate something special and definitely would return. The spa is delightful.

Had a luvley stay ,spa very busy we dud hsve suunday lunchh there too. Roastpitatoes rock hard also the yorjshire pudding was too.

Excellent stay, only things that annoyed me was being told I would have to pay extra for breakfast as I had booked through hotels.com & not through the hotel themselves, could not get the wife a manicure as apparently the spa was fully booked yet when we went to use the spa there was no-one there having their nails done, today on leaving there were four members off staff in the spa stood around chatting not looking busy, on hotel .com it stated whether to pay through them or at the hotel, I chose the hotel & found that hotel.com had taken my money out off my account so was disappointed with that, it seems that more provision is given to locals to use the spa & pools than the actual guests themselves which is a little disappointing, otherwise beautiful hotel, excellent location, staff lovely & polite & very helpful, would definitely recommend.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. A very special tucked away place, recently refurbished to the highest standards. The staff and service are all absolutely exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended and will return!

Great staff that couldn’t do more for you, considering the virus circumstances that they are working in everything was very well managed. They had to change our room due to a computer error and we received a bottle delivered to our room for the inconvenience- lovely thought, thank you. The use of the Spa is an added bonus, again well managed with time slots to use the facilities, a lovely break with great food and drinks!

We booked for our Anniversary. After the booking we were told all spa facilities were out of service, a massive blow to our weekend and this was the sole reason for this hotel. We were informed the hotel would ‘make it up to us’ 1 week before our stay, the additional blow of the 10pm curfew hit.We arrived, gorgeous hotel. Covid measures in place. The receptionist took our bag and I asked her to arrange a local taxi to pick us up that day. For a 9 min journey she told me it would cost £35.00+ We of-course needed a return journey too. I was disgusted. I spent 10 minutes calling local firms and got myself a £11 taxi. I have traveled the world and the concierge team are always the best and most helpful for local needs - not here. On return. We got the keys to our room and it was absolutely tiny. The bathroom was bigger. There was no daylight- the curtains wouldn’t move. The blind slats wouldn’t turn. There were no ceiling lights - just lamps, so we felt very depressed in a dismal small room. Breakfast the following day was the last straw for us. We opted for a ‘full English’ - a spoon of beans - cold. 2 fried eggs. 2 bacon that were so thick, fatty and under cooked, I left. 1 sausage. Half a mushroom. I asked for toast, it arrived after I ate what I could - cold, no butter.On checkout - the receptionist took our key and said ‘ohh you should have stayed in our suite- it has a gorgeous bath’ I was mortified. Huge smack in the face for what was a dreadful stay.

Absolutely fabulous hotel and rooms very elegant and charming. Food a bit expensive but that is to be expected with this venue. Staff very welcoming and helpful. No lifts so disabled people in wheelchair would not be able to stay there. Overall very pleased with them stay. Would go back again

The hotel is a lovely building with some quirky decor. Did not get the chance to explore the extensive grounds fully due to poor weather.

My advice is to read the small print when booking this hotel!!! I had booked a double room for 2 adults and 1 child and thought my price through Expedia was the final price with no hidden extras (as every booking I have ever made through Expedia has always been). As you can imagine I was then very surprised to be presented with my bill and to then see an extra £25 charge for having my toddler son in the room. No where on my booking confirmation was this mentioned and I had to speak to the manager to have it taken off. Not the best end to what should have been a lovely trip for us all. Apparently on their website there is a whole host of extra charges that you might be subject to so BEWARE and check first before booking, especially as you can't just cancel their rooms either without hefty penalty fees.
