Viceroy hotel is top of the line luxury. The staff was over the top attentive and the property is secluded, well kept and reminded me of “Disney” detail- attention to everything- sight, sense and sound.

My wife and I have stayed at a handful of different places in playa. We always said we need to stay somewhere different so we can experience new things. This stay at viceroy changed our mind. We have found our new permanent vacation getaway. Everything from the food, room, beach, staff, location was top notch. Very small resort of roughly 45 bungalows which have your own heated pool to indoor and outdoor shower. So quiet. The service was amazing. Pepe at the beach was incredible. We plan on returning very soon.

The property is a very nice small resort. Great for relaxation and for privacy. The staff was very accommodating and responsive to the guest's needs.

What a special place! The people and the service make this truly 5-star. So friendly and caring and eager to please. The grounds are beautiful, and they do their best to keep natural, but well kept. There are monkeys playing around, that we were lucky enough to see a couple times. The romantic, private villas come with your own heated plunge pool and outdoor shower. Like your own little oasis The beach was a major downer. Small, rocky and just not what you dream of. And for all the promise of tranquility, there are resorts built on both sides playing loud bass music. At least the noise ended at 11pm (most nights). Despite these shortcomings, I still highly recommend this property, as you will not find another place with people as nice and kind and attentive.

Magical stay at the viceroy. The staff and room are truly magnificent and it's a beautiful property. The beach is rocky and it's truly not designed to leave the grounds after you arrive. So it's more about the pool and your villa. As such I don't think it would make sense not to do the all inclusive stay. The food and drinks were much better (much of it truly delicious) than at many resorts though options are more limited as it's much smaller. We were not offered a room upgrade which was surprising as it didn't seem full but they gave us a room very close to the beach and it's hard to imagine a more beautiful space than the one we enjoyed.

Really nice hotel, the best part of it by far was the service. Location could be better (beach had rocks, and was not very good for swimming), but the weather was great and the food was 5 star. Highly recommend all inclusive option, it was very worth it.

My husband and I loved the Viceroy Riviera Maya! It was perfect for our honeymoon getaway. The hotel grounds are beautiful, like you’re in the midst of the jungle! The staff are so kind and accommodating. The food is delicious! We loved the serene atmosphere of the hotel. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, look no further than the Viceroy!

Private/ More food choices

The Viceroy was truly amazing. The only thing better than our huge room and private plunge pool was the staff and the service. Every employee goes out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect and they stop and greet you every time you encounter them. Special shout out to Pepe who took care of us by the pool everyday. Pepe had a smiling face and upbeat attitude, all be it behind a mask, everyday. The Viceroy is a must for luxury if you are a couple visiting the Riviera Maya.

This is one of the best, the resort is so relaxing... fantastic for a couples trip. The hotel recently sustained some damage from the hurricane (pier knocked down), but it’s still in fantastic condition and the staff is some of the best around. I think front desk staff could be more accommodating, but restaurant, bar and beach staff is amazing! Great food, great drinks, great ambiance!

Our 2nd stay here. It had been a few years. Still the same paradise we discovered then. Doing a great job keeping everyone safe with readily available sanitizer. All employees wearing masks at all times. Plenty of space to call your own. Food is the best part. Hard to find better at any resort. Chef Carlos and his team are masters. All the people that work here are amazing. Kudos.

This hotel is amazing! Specially the service provided by a personal butler all the time of your stay. The villas are super comfy, with all the amenities you need. We chose the Mayan All Inclusive plan and definitely worth it. I totally recommend this hotel!

We had a fantastic time. Service and food where top notch. Villas were amazing and very private. If you like to swim in the ocean this might not be the place for you. if you like to lay on the beach and by the pool and get pampered by the staff you will get 5 star treatment. Ask for Pepe he is the best !

This resort is very special. The staff is beyond wonderful, quick to serve and always with a smile. We stayed on site for the whole trip while enjoying the all inclusive indulgence package. The food was wonderful at each restaurant. Beach and pool service is very attentive. They also serve fun little treats throughout the day and have nice themed dinner nights to change the menus up some. Our Villa was upgraded to a premium for my birthday celebration and adorned with balloons and decor. Very sweet to celebrate with me! The villas are drop dead gorgeous with jungle foliage views surrounding the private plunge pool. They gave us two hand cut soaps which we used each time at our awesome outdoor shower. Never even used the indoor one! Fun little jungle walk to and from the pool was a highlight each day. We also painted a picture together at the painters corner in the jungle and brought home as a souvenir. Fun little touches! The beach was nice, but the water had seasonal seaweed and a tad rocky so we didn’t use it as much as pool for swimming and we are usually ocean lovers. It doesn’t take away from the incredible ambiance this resort offers however. Wonderful resort- highly recommended. Pepe, Fernando, Cesar, Rodrigo, Mario, Jonathan, Guadalupe- we will miss you! Wonderful personalities and fantastic servers. The boutique and young lady working at boutique were also great- she had to special order something for me from an outside pharmacy and it arrived in just a few hours.

Very nice hotel but not for the price. Only 1 restaurant opened for breakfast lunch and dinner. Second restaurant just for dinner. Very limited food option. Beach is very rocky and lots of seaweed not swimable at all. Very small pool for all hotel guests you can’t sver find a chair since there are about 10 of them. Private nice rooms but too many gecos/ mosquitoes you really can’t enjoy your private outdoor pool or patio Overall it was an okay experience but definitely the pictures are far from real

We simply had a wonderful time. I would have a hard time finding fault with anything. (One undercooked steak is about it!). Great drinks and delicious food. Choose the all inclusive package if you plan on staying on the property most of the time. I will be going back. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Viceroy in February and I cannot rave about this place enough! This is the perfect spot to get away and not a typical “resort” feel. Secluded in the best way, private, intimate, we felt like we were on our own private vacation without the crowd and chaos that other resorts have. Food at the restaurant was awesome and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Beautiful views, private plunge pool and villa was just out of this world. You will not be disappointed!

Everything about this place was first class. The hotel staff couldn't be more polite and accommodating. Everyone would stop what they were doing when you passed by to greet you and let you go by. The rooms were amazing and super romantic. The food was incredible. I definitely recommend the all inclusive package - all food is a la carte, not buffet style. It was nice to eat whatever you wanted off the menu without worrying about prices. We even had a special romantic private dinner on the beach which was totally worth the extra price. I haven't stayed somewhere more relaxing and romantic for a long time. This place is on my list to revisit over and over whenever I want to be pampered and to relax.

We were looking for a small all inclusive resort after staying at a nearby property 6 years ago. Their website shows the beach, pool, villas, and restaurants, but it can’t capture the perfect scale of the property, how they scrub the paths each morning, leave house made newspapers for you each morning, and make you feel like you are a king and/or queen while in residence. Edgar, Oscar, Isidro, Liticia, and the rest of the staff were outstanding! The food and drinks are superb and they were great about asking about dietary restrictions. Lack of security was never in question as they always had 2 men on the lookout. The spa was amazing with the eucalyptus steam sauna and hot tub. They have 2 boutiques on the property that sell locally made items as well as hats, cover ups, etc. we only wished that they had live music on a Friday or Saturday, but otherwise we wouldn’t ask them to change a thing. The property is beautiful and kept extremely well, with a total of 41 villas tucked throughout a jungle setting. It has a mid-size boutique resort feel to it. Villa was very nice and the heated plunge pool great. The main pool very nice and the cabanas on the beach well serviced all day (great way to spend each day). Food was very good and the service attentive. We went with the all inclusive option and were glad we did. There is a main restaurant by the beach/pool that serves 3 meals a day and then another restaurant under a large palapa that just does dinner. The staff overall is very well trained Only slight drawback is the resort next door is more of a party scene, so a little bit of noise one night. Comparing to nearby properties where we have stayed: Rosewood is the top, then I would put Viceroy on par with Banyon Tree and Belmond Maroma. Each property being a bit unique.

This is an amazing resort. It's very beautiful and extremely private. Food is great but the real highlight of the Viceroy is the staff! Enough cannot be said about them. They are attentive without being intrusive and are there solely to take the best care of you. Everyone remembers your name and will bend over backwards to make your stay special. Never been treated so well. The only downside if you could even call it that, is that it is extremely quiet in the evenings. We were always the last ones at the bar at 10pm. This isn't necessarily a negative because that's why most people go. You can also take a 15 minute cab ride into Playa if your looking for nighttime excitement. I would highly recommend the Viceroy!
