Staying at Villa Thamburu was an absolute delight! From the delicious food, stunning beach, serene pool and garden, to the beautiful architecture and relaxed vibe - every aspect was perfect. The tuk-tuk service added a convenient touch, making our exploration of the surroundings effortless. It truly felt like a slice of paradise, where luxury meets the comfort of home.
While Villa Thamburu offers an idyllic retreat with its stunning scenery and exceptional amenities, an adults-only policy could enhance the tranquility and relaxation aspect of the experience.

Fabulous location right on the beach, property beautifully maintained staff highly attentive throughout our stay.
Food was amazing, a good selection of wine and cocktails available for pre dinner drinks.
Having lived in Sri Lanka for the last 13 years we have stayed in a lot of properties and hotels across the island but Villa Thamburu is certainly up there with the very best.

The design of the hotel is beautiful, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was quite good.
Unfortunately the value for the money just isn't there. This hotel charges a premium rate but does not provide the amenities to justify it. While there I was shocked to find that ordering a local Lion beer cost as much as a cocktail (if I recall correctly it was 2400LKR), which for a property charging $1,000 USD a night seems extremely excessive. While I understand a convenience charge for ordering at the hotel I don't believe that tripling the cost for a local beer is at all reasonable.

Einfach eine traumhafte Unterkunft um völlig abzuschalten und Kraft zu tanken. Diese absolute Ruhe ist fast unbezahlbar. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr aufmerksam und sehr nett. Das Essen im Hotel ein Traum. Es gibt auch am Strand Möglichkeiten zum Essen. Uns war es aber wert einen kleinen Aufpreis im Vergleich zu draußen zu bezahlen.
Wir hatten auch kein Problem mit Stechmücken. Das Hotel hat dagegen sehr viel unternommen.
Es gab keine Kritikpunkte.

From start to end you’re being taken care of the team, who want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The Portuguese architect and builders excelled in design and quality, spacious rooms give the feeling of luxury. Dinners are an additional enrichment to your stay, with great tastes - for us it was a 10 of 10 in all categories.

New, exceptionally stylish property that was celebrating its 1 year anniversary while we stayed…we got a delicious piece of birthday cake! The location is excellent with direct access to a nice beach (which has a few restaurants and bars within walking distance) and easy reach of a turtle sanctuary definitely worth visiting, as well as a great beach bar called Waves a short Tuk Tuk ride away. You have the choice of cooling down in the ocean or in the hotel’s exquisite pool and, as is typical throughout Sri Lanka, it’s the lovely people who make a place special and this hotel is no exception. Choice of Western or Sri Lankan breakfast, both of which were plentiful. You won’t be disappointed if you book to stay at this hotel. We were sorry to leave.

We had a wonderful stay! The villa is beautifully designed and in a quiet location on an amazing stretch of beach. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The deluxe room was great and the food (lunch & dinner) were so tasty that we did not go anywhere else during our 4-night stay. We will come again and recommend to all our friends!

This hotel combines what is an oasis of peace and luxury. Everything here is perfect and beautiful. The accommodation is wonderful, intimate, quiet, fragrant, tastefully decorated. The decor of whole place is on the highest level of design and good taste. The garden and pool are amazing. Very lovely and friendly owner, nice and helpful staff . The food is delicious, at very reasonable prices. The beach is clean . It really is a gem on the map of Sri Lanka. We are glad that we could spend a few unforgettable days here.

Fabulous boutique hotel. The staff were attentive and always happy to cater to our needs. The room was clean and comfortable, plus we had our own plunge pool which was perfect. The food was delicious and flavourful. The grounds are neatly kept and it was nice to see chipmunks and mongoose roaming around. During our stay, there were many other couples enjoying their stay, in a comfortable quiet and relaxing atmosphere. No kids to be seen which made it even more wonderful to unwind. We will be back.

Brand new property. Everything about this place is wonderful - the setting, the facilities, the staff and the food. Exceptional design and architecture where every little detail had been thought about.
We enjoyed every minute of the stay in such an idyllic tranquil atmosphere. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpfull, they ensure every customer have a great experience. Especially would like to mention the great cuisine and the chef of Tharinho restaurant! Thank you for the wonderful stay that exceeds our expectations!
