Lovely property, been staying here for years…..I will say that the new owners/operators are a real hit & miss…… sometimes you get a smile but most times you don’t. Certainly don’t feel as welcome as previous owners…… that made this place….. struggling to want to stay again….

Beautiful room and outlook, superb facilities and lovely staff and atmosphere. We’re coming back and we’re so excited about Petone too it’s gorgeous and fabulous shopping and high quality cafes!

Ava Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. It was clean, cosy, comfortable and well worth the price. It was close to the beach and shops and there was good parking.

Easy check-in process. Very clean with plenty of linen, pillows and additional blankets.Sufficient toiletries for travellers that pack light. Location was perfect for us to be able to access areas in Lower Hutt.

We only spent one night here as it was near tothe Interisland Ferry Terminal.

Everything was great besides the fact that I was somehow allowed via Expedia to book a room for 2 adults and a child (2yrs old and all details put into the site when searching) only to be told when I arrived at check in that our room didn't allow children which was a bit of an awkward situation to be in.
Ended up all having to sleep in one bed which was ok for 1 night (still annoying at 39 weeks pregnant) however I wished that I wasn't given the option to book there if there wasn't any availability of space for the child-maybe it was a site glitch but to be told on arrival when I was about to pay the property that our room wasn't for children seemed a bit of an average thing to do-I would've booked elsewhere had I been notified by the motel once my booking and room request had gone through online about the room not actually being able to cater to us,not on arrival when I had no other option left.
