We visited for a week as a family with our 14 yo son. La Rochelle is a great place to bring kids. The hotel is very well placed for the Old Port, restaurants, the beach and other attractions, all very walkable - we visited the Aquarium and the Maritime museum and did the Fort Boyard boat trip. We had the room for 4 with the balcony - which was a bonus, though there is some other outside space too. The room suited our needs - with comfy beds (a sofa bed for our son) and nice shower and only a short flight of stairs. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If we ever go back, we will very probably stay there again.

We stopped in La Rochelle for a night on our way further south. The location is perfect for walkable access to dining and the old port. The hotel entrance and lobby is very nice. There’s also an outdoor courtyard with chairs if you want to sit outside and read. Our rooms were in a separate building at the end of the courtyard and the rooms and bathrooms were fairly small/tight and felt more like 3-star rooms. Staff was friendly. Parking is offsite but only a short walk away (unload bags first).
No elevator in the building where our rooms were (we had one ground floor and one first floor room) - no problem for us though. Rooms had AC which was great! It was hot the day/night were there.

Due to a festival and road works we were unable to get to the hotel without an 8 minute walk. Staff pleasant and hotel standard was average. Items that let the establishment down was the lack of tea and coffee in the rooms, very small flat pillows and the lack of lift to get luggage to the upper floors.

Excellent hotel in a superb location, just round the corner from the main harbour area. Secure motorbike parking available for 10€. Would I stay there again?? Definitely.

This is a quaint small hotel with breakfast included. The man checking us in was very polite and friendly. He advised us on parking (city parking nearby and at the port just a couple blocks away) and about restaurants and tourist opportunities. Our room was quiet and efficient with good bedding. Breakfast was complete continental and the same man who checked us in made sure we had a good breakfast including soft boiled eggs, cold cuts and plenty of breads. Parking was a bit anxious at first but getting to the port turned out to be a good choice. We would highly recommend this hotel. Note, there is no elevator.

The hotel in general was very good and comfortable, very clean and close to all amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was some clientele were inconsiderate to others by chatting and laughing outside our bedroom at 2.15 in the morning, and when told to shut up they just laughed and made even more noise.

The outside of the building is not appealing. The inside is first-class. Car parking for me is always an issue!! Site advertises car parking available but it is in public car parks that you may or not get parking! This is a general complaint applicable to a lot of sites.

We stayed in a secure multi storey car park under one of the squares which was reasonably priced and only 5 minutes walk away from the hotel. Overall though we enjoyed our stay.

The Atlantic is located right in the middle of everything! We’re only sorry that we didn’t book it for an extended stay. We had an epicurean delight at the steak house across the street, and we’re able to do some awesome people watching on the street a block from here. 5 stars!

Very convenient location although parking quite limited - a convenient car park nearby but difficult to get a space as very popular. Lack of air con in the room was a disappointment as it was very hot. I’d stay again but avoid hot and busy periods.
