A house fit for any celebration! This truly delightful Grade-II listed Georgian home has been designed to bring together groups of family and friends in a glorious part of north Shropshire. With flexible sleeping spaces the 8-bedroom home can host up to 23 guests, who can all enjoy the grand lawns, walled gardens, 10-person hot tub and outdoor social barn. Hen and stag parties are definitely welcome.
The Area
Ideally located for a rural retreat, far enough away from civilisation but close enough to not feel isolated. Alexander Lodge is only 10 minutes from the popular market town of Whitchurch and the picturesque town of Ellesmere you will find a perfect country hideaway. Whitchurch offers a wealth of independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Add the weekly country market, monthly farmers’ market, a wide range of independent specialist shops, lovely coffee shops, the many traditional pubs and inns which offer good food and beers, the interesting mix of buildings and you have the ideal place to discover on your holiday. Ellesmere, only 10 minutes away has developed into a vibrant market town with numerous of Georgian and half-timbered buildings. Ellesmere prides itself on its individual and independent shops – some have been in the same family for generations. Chester and Shrewsbury are both only half an hour away.
With Shrewsbury approximately 30 minutes’ drive away, there’s a variety of things to do making it a great day out. Shrewsbury is full of finds to be discovered by foot or by boat, the River Severn is a must, as is the café culture, the castle and the churches that dominate Shrewsbury’s famous skyline.
In the other direction and approximately 30 minutes’ drive away again, is the historical city of Chester with its excellent shopping and famous races, with the Blue Planet Aquarium close by and of course Chester Zoo, there are so many options.
Throughout the year there are numerous food festivals and regattas. It’s a great place to visit. For the more adventurous travel seekers there are various walks and outdoor activities nearby including The Mercian Way which is part of the award-winning National Cycle Network. Overton-on-Dee which is surrounded by a forty-mile network of interconnecting public footpaths and bridleways, all of them readily accessible from the village. From taking a stroll around the beautiful gardens to exploring the woodlands and countryside, even just sitting back relaxing and taking in the tranquillity of the house. The grounds are as impressive as the property itself. With grand lawns, walled garden, court yards, and quiet ponds, you will find something special everywhere you discover. All the guests can gather in the social barn that has seating for all, separate terraced area and a 10-person hot tub.
The home and grounds are regularly used to host small weddings and every detail throughout the manor has been carefully considered.
Upon arrival, you are greeted by the classic Georgian architecture with beautiful white detailing and elegant hedgerows. This wonderfully grand holiday home is the definition of luxury. The house has been designed for a social space with an open plan kitchen and dining room, and separate lounge areas. The home has been stylishly dressed throughout that pays homage to the character and history of the manor. All 8 bedrooms are dressed for deep comfort with 5 bedrooms being en-suites and 2 of the bedrooms being located on the ground floor.
