The Merchant Hotel was a bank in its previous life. As a former banker myself, I enjoyed hearing about it’s history, and seeing how beautifully it has been converted to its present use. Magnificent!

Hotel is in the best location. The room is was incredible. I definitely recommend upgrading. Breakfast was delicious. Hubby enjoyed the spa.

Stayed in Victorian room, quite dark but very comfortable , art deco rooms much nicer . Got twin room first when I requested a king bed . Changed us no problem. Put a balloon and chocolate on the bed as a surprise for birthday which was lovely . Great central location .

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, the only downside was an alarm going off several times at 1am 3am. Aside from this it was fine. The breakfast included was perfect. Good location and great customer service.

Beautiful hotel and nice staff who will do anything for you. Comfortable, luxurious and building is stunning. Only criticism is that I think 3pm is too late for check in. 12/13:00 is more realistic.

Super room easy check in … parked the car but didn’t say it would be £35 pounds to do so … would not let us have food in the bar at 9.30 only room service which 1hour and 40mins arrived even every time we called down they said 5mins … waste of a evening in the city didn’t get to enjoy the hotel bar .. they took it off the bill but they served others food non residents so overall disappointed… reception staff very pleasant.. it just was a bad night .

Absolutely loved my stay. It was my first time but won’t be the last. We had an Art Deco room and it was spectacular. Spacious and so comfortable. We used the roof top hot tub too which was a lovely treat. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in from anywhere in the world. 5 star from start to finish. the moment you walk in the concierge and reception are so welcoming, the room was stunning and immaculately clean, the spa was so relaxing with amazing bar service, the grand Room restaurant for dinner and breakfast was fine dining at its best with the best waiting staff in terms of service, friendliness and they were all dressed so smartly and so well presented.
It is somewhere we will actually specifically make the effort to fly to now just to experience the Hotel- it was utterly fantastic.

Had prepaid for our stay and it took the checkin staff a couple of minutes to confirm this, staff all very friendly. Breakfast was included and was a wonderful experience.
Only thing that would make me question the cleanliness of the room was the fact that I found 2 pairs of socks in the drawer from what I imagine was a previous guest.
