This apartment is the ideal place to stay for a visit to Matera. It is immaculate and well stocked with everything you could need. On-site parking is an added bonus and our host Pietro was welcoming and very helpful. We highly recommend this lovely apartment.

This is their family home and you could tell it meant a lot to them to make it your home too. The kitchen was stocked with all kinds of packaged foods, they were excellent communicators and the location is excellent. I’ll stay there again.

Let me just say that Pietro is by far and away the most gracious host we have ever met in our extensive number of stays using HomeAway. He has the most cheerful disposition and truly goes out of his way to make you feel "at home" in the L'Alloro apartments. From the well stocked fridge and pantry to complimentary toiletries in the baths, Pietro and Domenico certainly know how to create the perfect stay in Matera. Located conveniently just a few minutes away from the historic part of town, everything is walkable. You can easily drive to the apartments, park securely in a small courtyard, and then be on foot for the rest of your visit. We stayed in L'Alloro 2 (one of two apartments on site). It was spotlessly clean. A very nice layout with a private mezzanine above and additional sleeping area towards the back. This was perfect for a family of four with two little kids. Each area has their own bathroom with shower and toilet. And, oh by the way, Matera is awesome. But that's a whole other review.... :) Seriously, you will be very pleased staying at L'Alloro. Three of us spent a very happy two nights in this well-located apartment near the Sassi. Comfortable, immaculate, well-eqipped, excellent bathrooms, secure—and a delightful, responsive, and very helpful owner. Grazie, Domenico.

We were so thrilled with every aspect of this property. The location is perfect, just a few blocks from the central Piazza. The property was large and had everything you could want included. And the property managers were absolutely fantastic! They were attentive, informative, flexible and amazingly welcoming and friendly. I will book this property again on my next visit to Matera and I highly recommend you do the same!!

This apartment was like entering a luxury oasis. We stayed there with our 2 teenage so s(17,14) for 2 nights and I honestly did not want to leave. Domenico and Pietro could not have been more gracious and helpful we took them up on all their suggestions for sight seeing and meals and they were spot on every time. The apartment was very comfortable for all of us we had space to relax in one of the most charming updated and very reflective of the town it is in. We LOVED Matera it was one of the most unique unexpected cities we have ever visited. I would recommend the apartment and the city to any travellor.

A lovely property, well positioned adjacent to the Sassi, with an excellent secure car park. Very easy to get to. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, excellent breakfast provisions and laundry provision. Pietro and Domenico were great hosts.

This was a lovely place to stay, very close to i sassi, very well stocked, very clean and comfortable, like new, with parking and laundry and everything we could need. We were welcomed warmly by the owners and we loved Matera. Grazie di tutto!

We are still talking about our stay in Matera. This accommodation was perfect for us to enjoy this intensely historic city. The high barrel ceiling in this rental made us feel the history and a sense of place. The rental was spotless and exceptionally clean and inviting. The kitchen was immaculate, well equipped and had supplies like coffee teas, etc. We like to choose rentals that have parking, wifi and a washing machine and this had it all. The location is just a few blocks from the Sassi old city. It was also convenient to go to Alberobello for a day trip since it was only an hour away. We also enjoyed shopping nearby in the Bread bakery, the butcher shop, the produce market and the exceptional coffee shop just a few blocks away. The owners were so warm and so proud of this place. They really wanted to be sure that everything was perfect for us. We will always have fond memories of this stay.

Pietro and Domenica have done a great renovation to provide a spacious, well equipped and spotless apartment with first class finishes while retaining stone features such as the high arched ceiling and decorative tile flooring. Standouts for us were the extremely well stocked food pantry (croissants, cakes, jams, butter, juices, tea, coffee, yogurt and bottled water ), good kitchen equipment, large walk in rain shower and secure off street parking. Their advice on Sassi tour options made our time here very productive and enjoyable. Easily accessible supermarkets, fruit shops, delis, bread and pastry shops and assorted restaurants and pizzerias all within a couple of blocks. Ideal property for those looking for well equipped self catering accommodation with great hosts.

Domenico and his family went overboard to welcome my friend and I (we are 2 mature aged women!) to this terrific holiday house. We were met at the bus station by lovely smiling faces, and brought to the house where they had worked hard to make it possible for us to check in hours earlier than expected. This was really appreciated. After showing us around the house they gave us lots of tips & helpful advice for our 2-day stay, all of which we followed. The house is gorgeous. It is spectacularly clean and well-equipped. It was a pleasant surprise to find that it was also very generously provisioned with breakfast pastries, biscuits, snacks, yogurts, juices a huge selection of teas and coffee (a nespresso machine). The main bedroom is something very special. It is accessed via a spiral staircase and is a huge room with a big, well-appointed en suite. It has the traditional curved stone wall/ceiling that is typical of the cave houses in Matera. The second bedroom is partitioned off from the lounge/dining area and is also spacious and there is another full bathroom downstairs. This may not suit all travellers but since we were out all day & evening enjoying the sights & restaurants in the cave city, my friend & I retired straight to our beds on arriving home after a cuppa! It might be an issue if someone wanted to stay up late, downstairs, as noise & light would certainly impact on the partitioned off bedroom. There is a small outside table & the area is very quiet. Security is not an issue - it is opposite the police station! The house is well-located, being just a few minutes walk from the UNESCO heritage centre. It also an easy 15 minute walk for those going on to Bari airport via the airport bus. We walked there with our large suitcases. Domenica and his family were wonderfully quick in their communications with us via whatsapp & email and couldn't have been more helpful. They are truly delightful and made this such a memorable experience for us. Thank you!

Brilliantly converted high standard apartment which is located at the very start of the main routes for exploring the historic Matera. Domenico and Pietro have organised the layout of the apartment including the outside area very well and had a variety of tourist information to hand including the essential map which highlighted the optimal routes for exploring the Sassi and Historic Center. You will not go wrong by following their advice. A very comfortable and safe experience and the people in the area were most friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for hosting us.. By the way whilst there is much more praise we could heap look at the other reviews for other detail.

We had the upmost pleasure of staying at the Holiday House in Matera. We were greeted by Domenico and his father Pietro. They were outstanding in showing us the home, where to eat, shop and explore. The house is amazing, it is equipped better than most 5 star hotels. It is impeccable, I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to go to Matera, they are short walk to the Sassi and main centre. We will be back for sure.

Tout simplement PARFAIT à tous points de vue (hyper propre et très bien équipé). Situation au calme dans une impasse, l'appartement est très confortable, il ne manque rien ! Petits déjeuners et en-cas copieux (lait-beurre-confitures-jus de fruits-yaourts-croissants-petits gâteaux-thé, etc..) du jamais vu ailleurs. A recommander absolument. Merci à Dominico et Pietro qui sont très sympathiques et aux petits soins.

When my husband and our two adult children walked into The Alloro 2, our mouths dropped open, it was so nice. With each step we were more and more impressed. Domenico met us with his English speaking niece and walked us through the apartment and we couldn't believe all the "extras" they offered us. There was an array of breakfast cakes, croissants and muffins (at least 2 dozen) in the kitchen buffet and when we opened the refrigerator there were bottles of water and juices! All included in the price. I thought it was like a hotel room where they charge for whatever you eat out of their mini-bar but non-alcoholic. ;) But these were all free and we could eat or drink whatever we wanted to. BONUS! The bathrooms and entire apartment were uber clean. We were so excited and would go back to this place in a heartbeat. We found a really nice grocery store about a 7-minute walk away along with a pharmacy, which was 5 minutes away. Domenico arranged a private tour for us of the city and sassi that lasted a couple of hours and was very well done. The tour guide even showed us some good restaurants. Only two things I would recommend Domenico do to this apartment: Add a arm chair in the living room. We had use the chairs from around the table which didn't make a very comfortable seating arrangement when we just wanted to sit and talk AND include a set of knives in case someone wants to make dinner. My husband made a wonderful Italian dinner while we were there and it was difficult cutting up vegetables with the only knives (steak knives) available. All in all, this place gets our 5-star vote.
