We liked that breakfast was included and provided a lot if choice. Since it was made to order everything was fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly and professional which made us feel relaxed. Roy in the breakfast restaurant understood our specific requests and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. We liked the unique nature of the decor - it felt very Singapore / Historical and there are several lounges, bars, swimming pool spaces and library that make this hotel seem unhurried and relaxing. The surrounding area is safe and interesting to explore. This hotel made me want to revisit for longer.

Characterful and decor had nice styling (if that old world colonial hangover vibe is your thing), but my biggest like is the location.
Firstly there’s a major construction site right next to the building which isn’t communicated, nor are any allowances made for the hard construction work noise.
Secondly, and this is a major problem, the rooms are abysmally small. No where to open a suitcase. Barely any room to store or hang clothes. A tiny table and heavy, clumsy chair are jammed up against the bed. The bathroom too is cramped. I asked to upgrade but was flatly denied.
Thirdly, as a guest with no Marriott status, I was treated to plenty of subtle reminders. The hotel is keen to lavish perks at members (and be very vocal about it) with spaces for breakfast screened off leaving lowly guests like myself given the choice of one small dark room and a few tables to sit at. The breakfast menu gets restrictive and repetitive after a few days. Additionally there’s no open social space to relax or work.
I fully appreciate that the hotel rewards loyalty, but it seems Marriott has lost sight of how to recruit loyalty, and make new guests like myself feel just as welcomed and valued.
In that respect the hotel failed dreadfully and I found the entire hotel stay experience to be dark, cramped, uptight and frankly unwelcoming.

Location and Breakfast
The Room was very small in according to the price

Breakfast was excellent. The whole experience was fabulous.
We enjoyed everything about our stay.
3.7
Great hotel with gorgeous theme through out in a great location in walking distance to a lot of the major sights.
All the reception staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast service could use some improvements. The food was very good, but it took too long to arrive (we had to wait up to an hour for our orders to arrive) and one day I specifically asked for eggs first and pancakes second and it arrived the other way arround.
Also pool area could maybe use some greenery or other decor to make it a bit more cozy.

It had character and was nicely furnished.
The bedroom was very small

Really nicely designed, in a super comfortable location, welcoming staff and a lot of perks.
Not much to not like honestly. Maybe only downside is the rooms are small if you have quite a few luggage with you.

The staff were absolutely lovely. Every person I interacted with was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The hotel is more style than substance. There is far too much furniture in the small bedroom which makes it difficult to move around without bashing into things. I am not a particularly large person but I ended up with bruises all up my legs from trying to walk past the bed to the bathroom and hitting the TV cabinet every time as there was less than 40cm between the two.
Also, the reception is decorated with furniture that cannot be sat on, so when waiting for taxis to arrive etc, there is nowhere to sit down. This proved difficult for one of my colleagues that suffers from back problems.

Beautiful old heritage building recently refurbished and full of fascinating artefacts. Very quiet and comfortable in my room. Loved the breakfast and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff.
The management need to figure out their eco credentials. Towels were washed every single use, which is a waste of energy and no option to retain them. All lights on in the room all day after cleaning.. and aircon full blast. Glass bottles for juice at breakfast are recycled not washed. Simple things could help make contribution to helping reduce impact on climate.. and finally the chairs in the lobby are a bit style over substance. They are arranged like a kid has been playing buses with the parent’s chairs and you can’t actually sit on them.. so there is nowhere to rest in the lobby area. Which is just odd

In the middle of Chinatown, this boutique hotel exceeded my expectations. I absolutely loved the styling. The staff were charming and very helpful.
The room was a little on the smaller side but it didn’t really effect the stay.

Breakfast is served by a very attentive staff. Good choice of freshly prepared items.

The location is great, the staff is very helpful and accommodating, and the hotel is classy and elegant.

Location was good
Staff were not well trained, welcoming and hospitable - except 1 girl on night shift who did her best to accomodate our needs.
Lobby was of more historical interest, than suitable for a hotel guest - nowhere to sit when waiting for room to be ready.
This 5* Hotel couldn’t supply Earl Grey tea.
Manager didn’t know the brand of mattress in the rooms, which other hotels specify on their website.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to be a member of the club because the staff treat you the same.
Always check the room before checking in, because configuration of some rooms are very strange.

The architecture was fine but other things were just normal for us.

very unique place in Singapore, cosy and elegant
only 1 vegan restaurant

Very nice boutique hotel - charming. Nice restaurant with vegetarian food. Tried risotto, was excellent. Gym is also nice, and there is a swimming pool. Rooms are nice, though mine was a bit small. Good breakfast.
My room was on the ground floor, so only small high windows. If you stay here I strongly recommend a room on a higher floor. Service for breakfast was also somewhat hesitant.

The ambiance of the hotel was fairly formal but friendly.
The decor was Colonial but pleasant.
The dining areas were very pleasant, books, tableware etc it felt really cosy and a little special. The bedroom was on the small side with good quality furniture and bedding.
A very large mini bar space with small wardrobe space, I would have preferred the reverse. Excellent staff took great care of me 🤩
The room could have been bigger as it was a King size bedroom and it barely had space for me on my own, or my clothing. Definitely too small for two regular sized people.
The mini bar could be reduced it will double the wardrobe space.
The pool is only useful when it’s not raining… It rained a lot…

The restaurants were great
The room I aaa booked in was incredibly small and there are better options out for the price I paid
3.7
Very good service from manager Ryan combined with the overall ambience
Personnel in the restaurant were quite slow in serving you and the taste of music in the bar was rather poor

Everything about the property was perfect and we loved the friendly staff location, service and amenities. The food was delicious and we appreciated being told of the special offer at check-in. The prices for drinks were a little high, we would gladly have spent the entire night having drinks in the bar and most likely dinner afterwards but found the prices quite high (we are prepared to pay higher than outside places to enjoy the hotel to a certain limit) compared to places down the street. If there was a promotion/happy hour option we would have gladly stayed. However this was only minor and we had the most wonderful stay and will definitely come back!
