About this house rental
From monuments and museums to modern art and dining, Washington, D.C. is where past and present (and politics) meet. And while the nation’s capital is a popular destination for its historical significance and political landmarks, you don’t have to be a political junkie to enjoy the District. There is plenty of contemporary culture, shopping, and sightseeing to be found tucked between all that neoclassical architecture. Our 2 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath newly built, luxury rowhouse house is the perfect place to stay while basking in the glory of all the places the District has to offer. Boasting 1,600 sq. feet, this historic rowhouse is the perfect place to stay to get the real feel for being 5 minutes away from the Capitol while paying a fraction of the price you’d pay at a hotel in this area.
NOTE: this can be sub-rented with our lower unit.
Our cozy retreat is in an ideal location, not only being 5 minutes away from the Capitol, but;
- half a block from Union Station
- A minute walk to Ebenezer’s Coffee Shop and Union Kitchen located on our block
- A 6-minute drive to The Mall (The easily-walkable, 2-mile long National Mall is home to the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, among others. The U.S. Capitol, easily recognizable by its iconic dome, sits at the eastern end of the Mall, with the White House is to the north)
- A less than 10-minute drive to Union Market, full of tons of places to eat
- A less than 18-minute drive from Georgetown which has tons of clothing stores, restaurants, etc. Adjacent to Washington Harbor and C&O Canal National Historic Park
- For our guests visiting in the Spring, you’re in for a treat… an unforgettable experience, you’ll get to see the three-week-long cherry blossom festival
We have an open floor plan with Italian furniture, Travertine golden walls, French doors, an open concept kitchen, and unique décor. Aside from our two king bedrooms upstairs, there are two queen-sized sofa beds that will allow you to accommodate a maximum of 6 guests. Upstairs we have two very spacious closets, a bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a bathroom with a tub. Our many windows both upstairs and downstairs serve for natural light all around the house throughout the day.

The host is thoughtful and promptly responded to all questions and inquiries. The home’s interior was clean and sparsely furnished.
The property is located near a coffee shop and
grocery store.
We found it easy to get around from this location to most DC attractions.

Myself, my wife and 2 kids went to DC for a few days to visit the usual sites. This place was perfect, as it was in a good neighborhood with a 6-7 minute walk to Union Station and a number of good local eateries within a block or two.
Everything was as advertised, clean, and easy to access.
5.0
Conveniently located, comfortable place to stay while visiting Washington DC. Union Station is a short walk and the Metro gets you close to most of the things you would want to visit.
We prefer a VRBO to a hotel because of the flexibility to prepare meals and a home type relaxed lifestyle while on vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lobbyists Flat. It was exactly as described. The flat was clean, modern, and spacious for the three of us. Communication with Farah was thorough and prompt. Being only a few blocks from the Capitol, we thought we would be walking a lot. Being so close to the Union Station Metro, however, made getting around by Metro so convenient that we used this for most of our travels. While being so close to the city center, this row-house neighborhood was quiet and always felt very safe. We especially appreciated the number of high quality restaurants located right in the neighborhood. It was a treat to walk to dinner and enjoy great Italian, German or French cuisine located within neighboring row-houses and then stop into a corner market on the walk back for last minute needs.

The house was clean, updated and the location was great! For visiting all the sites on the national mall, this was fantastic. It's a very short walk to Union Station with access to Metro and the DC Circulator.

The location is absolutely perfect for Washington DC sightseeing and only 1/4 mile from Union Station and about a mile to the Mall and other monuments.
The kitchen is not set up for major cooking, but there are many places to eat in walking distance including Union Station.
The beds were very comfortable. The primary suite shower is included with tub.
We felt totally safe walking in the neighborhood.
We would stay here again!

Fabulous location, nice remodeled flat, very clean, good TV set up. Parking was 2 hour on-street, zone 6 or pay lot. Furnishings were a bit sparse, just a bed and 1 nightstand in each bedroom, so had to live out of suitcases on the floor. Kitchen lacked some basics: dish towels, wine glasses, corkscrew. Dryer was broken, so ask about that. Overall good stay.

My family stayed here during a vacation in DC and we were able to walk to everything we needed, including the metro station at union station. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and we really enjoyed our stay.

Having stayed at this property in the past, it was an easy decision to book it again when a week long work trip dropped on my schedule. Very wonderfully appointed, excellent location in the Cap Hill area and the best hosts...very responsive and willing to assist. I will book this property during future trips for sure!

Spring break trip to DC for our family, and this townhouse was perfect! Comfy beds greeted us each night after a day full of site-seeing. The Urban Kitchen and Ebenezer’s proximity made for easy and delicious breakfast stops! The hosts were communicative and helpful. Highly recommend this VRBO!

Family Trip
Let me start by saying, it takes A LOT for me to leave a less than okay review. This was a last minute trip, so I expected there might be a bump or two. That said, when we got to the house, we didn't have the code for the key pad, called the owner and she said she didn't know but to try the "old code" and she gave me the numbers and it worked - it was 10 PM what if it wouldn't have worked - who had the code? So we moved all of the newspapers that had been thrown on the stoop for weeks and walked passed mail overflowing the mailbox to get to the door. Once we entered, it was clear no one had been there in months, dead bugs on the floor, cobwebs every where, and no AC. Turned on the AC and let it run for 12 hours and still nothing, it was warm outside so opening the windows wasn't going to help. Called the owner she said he would send someone to look at it, no one ever came, we were there 5 days. Once we got used to the heat and the bugs, we noticed the freezer and dishwasher were not in operating order and the fridge was leaking water on to the floor, mentioned those things to owner and never heard anything back about it. The clothes dryer door would not latch so you could not dry anything you washed, so having clean clothes was out of the question. There were many light bulbs burned out all over the unit and ants were coming in from under the exit doors in the kitchen. The final straw was the double glass doors in the kitchen do not lock securely - you could push the doors in from the outside, not safe at all. During one of my text exchanges with the owner mentioned that we were a last minute booking and she didn't have time to send someone to clean. She had about 36 hours to arrange for a cleaning or they could have even came while we were there but they didn't and we had to clean the place ourselves. Unless something has changed drastically. try to find another place in the same area, location was great.

Do not stay here.
The week started with landing in DC still without information on how to get in the property l had to call VRBO because the owner does not list a phone number and does not respond through VRBO. We get to the property and it is filthy. There was a peeled off square sticker on the front window of the main house and basement. Made me wonder if there was bad inspection or issue with the property. Then we get inside and the air fresheners are so strong smelling and there is random painters tape throughout the house on light switches, between the baseboards and floors and holding a paper blind up in the eating area. Every surface was filthy. Worst part was how gross the bathrooms were. I contacted the owner and she said the cleaning people had been there yesterday, they had not. We had prepaid so much money and I am not a seasoned VRBO user so I went to the store and bought my own cleaning supplies. To clean enough to get by. I never received a response and messaged again on Monday and was told she would fire the cleaning company. This did me and my family NO GOOD and I paid a lot of money for a 6 night stay. We were not there as much as we had planned due the filthy conditions. The patio was full of knee high weeds and the pretty white fence is black with mud or mold, I did not go back there. There is also not a window covering in the main bathroom and many cars park in line with the window. I have many pictures to substantiate my points and don’t want it to ruin anyone else’s trip. It is sad because the location is good and the coffee shops on the corners are good.

Great location
The house is perfectly located near many of the sites in DC....the Capital, National Mall, Washington Monument, Supreme Court, etc. and easy to walk to. There is a great coffee shop on one corner, deli on the other corner, plenty of other restaurants to walk to, grocery store within walking distance, etc. The owner was great in accommodating our arrival and departure. Would stay there again.

Reasons to Chose Lobbyist Flat on The Hill
* LOCATION
So close to Union Station!
Property is on a quaint street. We wanted to rest at the end of the day - not hear the crowds and cars of a city.
At one corner of the street is a Great Italian Restaurant, the other corner has a small Deli store.
Convenient and just minutes to many museums and attractions.
We used UBER for all our Museum travels ( $6 to $7 a ride) Picked up at the front of house :)
Neighborhood is safe enough to do an evening stroll just 2 two blocks to Sports bar for a game.
Giant supermarket is just a couple blocks away.
* CLEAN
House is like brand new! Furnishing is well planned and not second hand furniture!
Baths, flooring, bedding , linens are all spotlessly clean!
* GET AWAY
The property was a great place to get away and just relax between the many museums we saw.
Relaxing and you feel at home, with all your usual amnesties :)
We made breakfast/eggs on the gas chef stove = yum! It was a great relaxing start to our days.
In the evening we had cocktails on the cozy back veranda. It was an enjoyable time for my husband and I.
Likely we will return and bring another couple to see the sites and enjoy the house and Capital Hill Community.
Thank you for your well thought out Guest Home :)

The place is spacious, meticulously clean and centrally located.
This is the first time that I have tried VRBO and if this place was any indication, then I will be using them a lot more in the future. It is a duplex town home with marble floors on the first floor (spacious kitchen, living room and dining room) and wood floors on the second (two large bedrooms and two full bathes. It was perfectly clean and had all of the amenities. I could not have been happier.
I have one very small reservation about the place. the on street parking for Monday through Friday is limited to 2 hours during the 7:00 am to 8:00 pm unless you have a resident permit. I heard that visitor passes can be had. I don't know if that is true, but I wasn't offered one or even advised how I could get one.
But please don't let that stop you from renting this unbelievable place!

Great location but serious maintenance issues
We spent 4 days, starting June 1st, at the Lobbyist Flat and had a great time touring DC but found this property to have very serious maintenance issues.
First the positives; the flat is located a block from Union Station and in a lovely residential area. We even met some of the friendly neighbors at the block party held during our stay. The unit is large and nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. The first floor has the living room, dining area, updated kitchen and a powder room. Upstairs there are 2 spacious bedrooms, with master bath and a second hall bathroom.
Now the negatives; the tankless water heater went out our first morning, there were no workable electric plugs in the upstairs bathrooms, the powder room had a complete crack in the toilet seat, multiple lights were out, the patio had foot high weeds growing through the pavers and there were 2 bags of moldering leaves left on the steps to the downstairs, separate 1 bedroom unit.
I emailed Farah that first morning and she called that day saying she would try to contact a water/heating company for repairs. She was apparently was out of the country since she asked me what time it was in DC. She never was able to get any repairs done while we were there. We wound up using the downstairs unit to shower and the downstairs powder rooms working electric plug for the hairdryer. Apparently she has no property manager in town, the one listed on some literature in the unit said he no longer represented Farah when we contacted him so we had no recourse locally to help us with these problems.
So I can't recommend the Lobbyist Flat and also found it interesting the Farah never followed up with us (other than to ask if we had received the code to the downstairs unit). At minimum we were owed an apology for all the inconveniences.

Great location beautiful home! Perfect place for our family
Well located in a quaint neighborhood. Close to Union Station and a quick all to The Capital Building. Well supplied and nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable and a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a busy family vacation in our Nations Capital, would highly recommend !!!

Amazing Space, Perfect Location
Situated between two great coffee shops and a darling (and delicious) Italian restaurant and a five minute walk to Union Station, the location can't be beat. The townhouse itself is spacious and comfortable; we especially liked the back patio. I was here with my parents and my two sons; the space worked and we all had fun. Lovely and highly recommended; well worth the price.

Excellent location for a trip to DC
Recently two couples rented this home for 3 nights. The online pictures represent the home well. The big plus is that it is a 5 min. walk from the Metro central station which means you have easy access to hop-on-hop-off busses and taxis. We took the bus/metro from the airport which was certainly cheap (under $10) but it took a little longer than a taxi would...assuming that you don't travel in rush hour. We made the mistake of taking a cab from the metro to the home as it was so close. Perhaps walking instructions from the Metro online would be helpful. There is a great little coffee shop - Ebenezer's on the corner and the neighborhood is safe for walking. The home is nicely renovated - comfortable beds, but we made some suggestions to the owner like pillows for the patio set, wine glasses, a list of TV channels, and the need for some repair of leaky faucets. The reason I didn't give this place an excellent rating was the lack of communication with the owner. We have rented apartments around the world and always the owner or a representative has met us to take a deposit or tell us where to get groceries or how to reach them. I contacted Farah two days prior asking about arrival information. Every other time it has been the owner who has contacted us in advance of our trip. We were given a code to open the door (actually two different codes - one worked - one didn't) and yes we did have a phone number so that we could text. We met Farah's husband only because the TV wasn't working and he was very obliging by coming by on the first night we were there. I wonder if we would have had any human contact at all if there wasn't problems with the TV. He had it fixed on the second day. We are experienced travellers and so this lack of contact wasn't too problematic - just unexpected. Thankfully there were no serious problems. Would we recommend this place? Yes definitely due to location and cleanliness. Previous reviews talk about how helpful Farah was - we had help via texting. That was it.

Wonderful location. Comfortable stay.
This is a great place to be in DC. The location is superb. Very close to Union Station and Metro. Great tree lined quiet neighborhood. Farah met us on our departure day to may sure that everything was good and to check and make sure that nothing needed special attention. Would stay again when in the area.

Perfect location
Couldn't have asked for a better location for a family trip to DC. 5 minute walk to the Metro and groceries. Small cafe a block away. Union Station has 25 places to eat and a variety of fares. Home was beautiful yet a relaxing retreat at the end of the day. Spacious, extra air mattress was appreciated by our son. Kitchen had everything you could ask for. Would highly recommend!

Perfect in every way!
This property is everything described and MORE! Location was incredible. Transportation at our fingertips. Walking safe and near amenities necessary. Clean, quiet and perfect for our stay. The owner provided excellent service as I was nervous about arriving late at night and not knowing about the entry procedure. All questions were answered. I was in town for business and a little site seeing and found grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants within an easy walk. Used the metro, buses, cabs and my own feet to get around easily and safely. I recommend the lobbyist flat to my friends, relatives and strangers.

Fabulous! Indeed a "home away from home"!
Highly recommend over a hotel! Clean, modern, tastefully decorated property (kitchen to die for) with an outdoor sitting area (needs outdoor chair cushions though) ! Excellent location, only a 1/2 block walk to Union Station with daily parking available and city tour buses every l5 minutes. Giant (grocery store) only 2 blocks. Thank you Farah for a wonderful stay! Regards, Patricia

Gem Townhome on Capital Hill
This twownhome on Capital Hill was a gem of a find for our Washington DC visit. Upon arrival we walked two blocks from Union Station to where we found a comfortable, clean, and beautifully furnished home. The kitchen was huge with the cupboards well stocked with coffee, tea, spices, cleaning supplies, anything we needed. The bedrooms and beds were right on restful sleep. We walked the neighborhood at night feeling safe. At night we slept without street noise. Union Station was so close where we had access to the Metro, trains, cabs, city buses, and tour buses. The US Capital was right up the street. Faraha, the owner, was very timely and helpful. She returned the depisit the same day we checked out. We will use her service again and recommended it to all.

Capital Hill Condo for 2 couples
It was a great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. Close to the metro and a coffee shop. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is that there was a dank musty smell initially when we got there. However, I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Washington DC trip
The condo was perfect for our needs. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Very convenient to the Metro and taxi stand. Just steps from the Union Train Station and Ebenezer's Coffee House. The only down side was the dank smell of the condo. Only noticed when you first walk in. Would definitely stay there again.
