We were in DC for a friend's wedding and this property worked great for us
4.5
Great place with the essentials. Right off the Metro and within walking distance of several grocery stores. We parked our car in the park lot recommended with no issues. The kitchen had everything to cook a meal. Also very affordable. If we go back, would stay there again.

Tucked in a quiet neighborhood, two blocks from the Metro station and large grocery store; two or three blocks from excellent dining, including Michelin-starred Makan. Ample room for a family in this 2-story, 2 full bath duplex with full-size W/D. Excellent communication with the owner and property manager. We did not go out at night in this area; Uber recommended as opposed to public transport if clubbing or out at a show. Overall, we strongly recommend and would stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay and loved the neighborhood.
The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils. The stove and oven worked great. While there were many other kitchen appliances we did not have the occasion to use them.
Thank you

We appreciated the ease of checkin in and the character of the old building. Also ate at 2 nearby yummy restaurants! The grocery store and metro station are close and very convenient.

Convenient to metro, grocery and great restaurants

Excellent location in regards to Grocery and Short walk with Easy Access to Public Transportation. Quiet / Safe Neighborhood. Property does require some minimum updates and or maintenance that does not directly effect the ability to have a pleasant stay.

The property was accurately listed and well run. The layout is odd - as others have mentioned, you enter the apartment through the main bedroom, which doubles as a living room - but this worked out just fine for us. (It might be a problem for a group whose members would be arriving and leaving at varying hours.)
The interior condition and some of the furnishings are old but perfectly serviceable; shower areas in both bathrooms appear recently remodeled. Everything seemed quite clean except one blanket, which we could have quickly washed there if needed (good, recent model laundry machines are provided). When I had a question after arriving, the owners gave quick and helpful answers by text message, and offered in-person help if needed.
The neighborhood is mixed, interesting, and generally attractive, and residents seem to have community pride. Lots of useful stores and interesting restaurants nearby. The only drawback we noticed was that (typically for a converted older building), air conditioning was less efficient upstairs than downstairs. There is a single standing fan for air circulation; we could have used another. Overall, we were glad we chose it rather than a hotel.

Great location, very comfortable bed. Kitchen is a little small with only 4 chairs.

My family stayed here for our first trip to dc. It was a great location, convient to metro, grocery and restaurants. Communicatuon with owner was easy. Neighborhood was quiet.

we very much enjoyed our trip to Washington DC. There were 6 guests and the 13 year old 7th grader is so into history that this was THE trip of his young life. Our guest house was perfect and even though there were other guests, it was very private and secure. Everything was as described and the neighborhood was so cool . Great restaurants in walking distance. we highly recommend this location. Easy Metro access, safe and vibrant neighborhood. Very much enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to return

This property was perfect for our short stay!
The location was easy to navigate and close to stores, restaurants, and metro line. Beds were so comfy and clean.

Manager was extremely responsive. The place was nice, but it was a hundred years old with the weirdnesses you'd expect.

I booked this property for a bridal party weekend in DC. We were having an issue finding a property with 4 separate beds and decided to take chance. We were not disappointed. I was a little worried about parking but there’s plenty of 2 hour street parking to load/unload your luggage and the paid parking lot at Giant (less than block walk) was $30 for the entire weekend. The property itself is gorgeous! The beds were incredibly comfortable, even the bunkbeds. We weren’t able to enjoy the courtyard area due to rain but it’s well maintained and very private. I had the pleasure of meeting the property manager while we were checking out and she’s delightful! I will definitely be renting this property whenever I’m staying in DC. The process from beginning to end was incredibly easy due to constant communication from Lois, the property manager. Great location, great home and great management!

The picture that is shown in the ad is the entry hallway. As you open the door to the unit you walk right into a bedroom with a king bed. The unit was wonderful for the family, had everything we needed kitchen washer dryer 2 bathrooms and two bedrooms other than the king bed. You just have to remember it’s 100 year old building.

The location was absolutely perfect in every way; walking distance to the Metro, shopping, and dining. The host

Lovely 100+ year old brownstone home, converted into several living areas. Ours was 2 story with bedrooms up and downstairs for part is our visit and then a flat in the basement for a couple of nights.
It is a comfortable home. Well furnished and stocked. Not always quiet, but that was to be expected.
The host/property manager was very responsive when we had a torrential downpour of rain which overran the gutters of the building and caused some water to come into the home. They were there quickly with equipment to clean up the water. We had used all the towels to staunch the flow and they brought us more.
The neighborhood is safe and there were all kinds of choices for dining out. There was a supermarket close which was very nice. The metro was a short walk and we utilized it every day.

Our stay short, no issues with the property and I was satisfied with how accommodating the property was for all of us. Whenever I had to reach out to the property manager she responded quickly.
4.5
So many issues, had to cut to fit character requirement.
Hazards:
1. Faulty, exposed, rigged wring for Halogen lights under the kitchen cabinets. Fire hazard.
2. Holes in the wood flooring of the 2nd story. In the bedroom there are holes under a rug in the flooring. Owner GLUED a throw rug over the holes on to their wood floors!!! to conceal
3. Black mold in the upstairs bedroom. The window in the upstairs bedroom isn't securely attached to the house with gaping cracks all around the window a Black mold/mildew substance is growing in these cracks. As this is also the window for the AC unit, the AC can't efficiently cool the room, as hot air from the outside is rushing in through these cracks.
4. Staircase is so tight that where it turns my husband kept hitting his head on the ceiling. The stair handrail is also wobbly. Putrid, rotting smell coming from somewhere around the staircase.
5. Backdoor to the laundry area has a deadbolt lock that doesn't work. The bolt doesn't go into the hole to secure the door. Laundry room is full of construction debris.
Issues with cleanliness:
1. Pubic hair and mold in the downstairs shower.
2. The upstairs mattress has urine and blood stains.
3. Glasses and kitchenware were dusty and dirty.
4. The owner hoards items from past guests. In the upstairs shower there was a crusty half-used bottle of lotion. No one puts on lotion in the shower. There's only one thing I can think of that a person might due with lotion in a shower that has nothing to do with moisturizing... There were half-eaten jars of peanut butter in the kitchen, half-used kids' coloring books left in the upstairs nightstand, the list goes on and on... I understand recycling and reusing things, but it was gross...
5. Carpets and floors were dirty among other things in the house.
6. There were huge rats running around in the front yard.
7. Lied about the size of this unit. The unit we had reserved was listed as 2k square feet - it is MAYBE half that size. Every single room is physically uncomfortable and awkward.
8. No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash provided other than the stuff clearly left by past guests. Though they did put signs threatening "inventory" of the laundry soap that had one use left in it.
To make matters worse, when you called/texted/sent messages through the VRBO chat the owner often refused to respond. INCLUDING HER SELF-DESCRIBED "EMERGENCY NUMBER. Fighting to a get refund promised by the owner...

Within a couple of blocks from the metro and close to Target and the grocery store. Owners were very accommodating by letting us check in early. Plenty of beds for our family of 5 and two full baths. Also a washer and dryer to use .
4.5
This is a very comfortable and spacious apartment. It’s hard to see the codes for the door without a flashlight. And there was no living room which none of us even thought to ask about. The oven set off the smoke detector but the super was so quick friendly and responsive, turning in the heat for us. It’s a lovely place and the Beds are comfortable. We will return. Metro is close also.
4.5
Overall great place!! Would stay again. Bath mats in bathroom would have been nice. No paper towels but TP provided. TV in bedroom upstairs did not work but we were out a ton so not huge deal.
4.5
It was a comfortable stay in a convenient location. Nice to have separate bedrooms for teens, extra bath, kitchen and laundry.
4.5
The property was not clean. I found several small curly hairs in both bathrooms and there were no cleaning supplies available for us to use during our stay.
The downstairs bathroom toilet seat/lid was extremely loose discovered the very first time it was used. I know if it was properly cleaned the individual cleaning it should have noticed and reported or repaired it. I was able to hand tighten the plastic screw and had to do this multiple times throughout our stay.
The downstairs bedroom did not have the same furniture as pictured. A large couch was added that blocked either the use of the door to the kitchen or the use of the chest of drawers in the closet needed for our clothing. We spent the entire visit manually moving the couch back and forth to either access the drawers or the door.
This large couch was also missing all the back cushions making it not a comfortable place to sit and relax.
The bed in the downstairs room was completely worn out, sagging, stained, and uncomfortable(manufactured 08/2014). I attempted to sleep on it for three nights then I moved to the couch and slept. We had very busy days sightseeing and due to the condition of the mattress I was unable to sleep and it caused back pain.
The linens on the downstairs bed consisted of a blanket on top of the bare mattress, a flat white sheet, and a white down comforter. This is not acceptable and was completely uncomfortable and unsanitary especially considering the staining observed on the mattress. It also appeared the blanket on the bare mattress may have been positioned purposely to account for the severe sagging on the side closest to the door.
The hardwood flooring in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen has multiple nail heads, pieces of wood sticking up. I caught my right foot on one of the nail heads causing a small cut. My kids also stepped on these causing one to rip a sock.
On our last night there my youngest daughter came downstairs from the upstairs bedroom in the middle of the night and observed a rodent run along the hallway between the refrigerator and the bathroom.
The outside back area was not available for use either. It was dirty and cluttered. There was a pile of sticks/ yard clippings in the middle of the concrete area as if someone had begun to clean the area but did not complete it.
We were not provided the key code until after check-in time at our request. We followed up with management which resulted in excuses & ignoring the problems
4.5
Easy access inside. It is significantly more spacious in person than in pictures.. All accommodations were great. Contact with the owner was easy and timely. Would definitely stay again.
4.5
Internet access should be improved. Property managers perhaps over extended, only provided check-in instructions when prodded.
4.5
2 night stay. Very fast response time communicating with property management for small issues upon check in. Parking at garage for $18/day less than 5 minute walk as well as Metro station. Kid friendly and plenty space to stretch out.

•Two seperate sleeping areas, good•No real living room space. Master bedroom in living room•Nice outdoor space in back, but only usable in warmer weather•Minor maintenance issues: Dishwasher (couldn't open door), no drain stoppers for tubs and kitchen sink, need bulb in stairway and under kitchen cabinets•Great location and neighborhood. Giant Supermarket and Target very close.•Metro station very close (the way to get around DC)•Enjoyed our stay and would book again
