The house was very accommodating for our large group of 12. We absolutely loved sitting out on the deck, which was well furnished and had breathtaking views all around

The house is beautiful, comfortable and was pristine when we checked in. Decks and screened porch are wonderful. The kids loved the 3rd floor bedroom space, and it was fabulous being so close to Popham Beach. Definitely recommend. Kitchen on 2nd floor ... so have some strong helpers to bring in groceries ;)

The is house is very quirky, but the living room and decks have amazing views. The bedroom with 6 beds has a ladder to it and not a full staircase. I had communicated in writing with Vacasa about this and they responded that it was a full staircase. We did not learn of the issue until we arrived at which point it was too late to make other lodging arrangements. Additionally, we had a maintenance issue that resulted in rain blowing into the living room and Vacasa would not address that with me either. The kitchen is old - the cooktop was rusted and all of the plates, cookware, etc. were very dirty so we had to wash everything that we used. The grill was very nice, though. I would also recommend an awd vehicle at a minimum as the driveway is dirt and narrow, and very steep inclines. I used a mid-size cadillac suv and my tires were slipping. I have never written a bad review of a home before but Vacasa has really fallen short with their customer service and the cleanliness and maintenance of this property.

Online pictures are stunning and indeed the location has incredible views, however the current condition of the home doesn't match the photos. For the high price of about $600/night (including fees) we expected a clean home condition. Sadly, here is a list I must report so others aren't deceived.
1. Cleanliness Issues- initially the place looked sort of clean, but inspection under all the beds and furniture revealed filthy conditions, lots of dust and trash including an old baby diaper! The carpets had food under them, and on the stairway was loose carpet that could have caused a terrible fall. Dishes in the cabinet that were dirty, food present under the living room cushions, and indeed the living room sofa was just dirty overall. The living room carpet was all folded and loose making a tripping hazard. Kitchen area rug had food underneath and sharp toothpicks embedded in the top.
2. TV's were essentially unusable, the cable didn't work at all, and the streaming services didn't come on until the last day.
3. For whatever reason the washing machine leaked all over the bathroom floor, and despite new units being installed still worked intermittently
as the mixing valve on the wall wouldn't work right. (by the way, that mixing valve is still leaking slowly)
4. Many broken windows in great room that no longer open and some of which are missing screens.
5. Heating system seemed to have a mind of its own. Some rooms very warm, and others including Master bed and bath had no heat controls at all. The second bath was cold most of the time, and the thermostat in there didn't seem to work.
6. Fan in Master bedroom worked full blast and was not able to be turned off. That along with the lack of heat made that room quite chilly most of the time.
7. Three tiny bars of soap for 5 nights? Rough ill fitting sheets for extra bedrooms. We expected better.
We have rented vacation homes all over the country and so I think we are quite aware of what is to be expected, especially at this price point. Both couples that stayed here have rented homes ourselves and wouldn't dare make available to the public such inferior/poorly maintained lodgings. In all the years we have rented I have never felt the necessity to generate a review such as this, but I feel that others should be adequately forewarned and feel we are entitled to a partial refund of rental rates for the hassle factors involved.

Pros: View is *spectacular* and house is private.
Cons: house needs a deep clean and the upstairs fourth bedroom with 2 bunk beds is accessed by a ladder in a closet. Would not be suitable for your kids or anyone with mobility issues.

what a gorgeous stay we had . The house is super fun and on a beautiful fall weekend, we were able to enjoy all the decks, the windows the light and the proximity to the beach. The house is unique and lovely, met our needs for space and was a great addition to a wonderful weekend in Maine.
4.1
The place was as pictured- isolated, quiet (wind and distant surf noises only), TREMENDOUS views. Stars!!! So many stars! The house is not brand new, but it is very comfortable and very accommodating if your goal is a quiet vacation.
The nearby Popham beach was delightful. If you’re looking for nightlife or restaurant dining, I suggest staying in Portland. If you’re looking for amazing sunrises and quiet family time, this is it. Day excursions are an easy do, but not needed.

The location and views are wonderful, the house is spacious and we had a great time, but there were many things that weren't satisfactory, and two issues that were downright dangerous. The fireplace didn't work, living room rug had a lot of food crumbs and debris on it, kitchen was poor (many pans were dirty, not enough silverware for 12, kitchen drawers were filthy, there was no way to make ice--both refrigerator and stand-alone ice makers were broken, there were only 2 garbage bags, small kitchen table top was greasy and sticky). One of the refrigerators was plugged into an outlet that required the cord to run behind the sink where it was continually exposed to water. One of the beds was broken (we had to readjust slats so the mattress would stay on and the headboard was broken). Door handle to main deck fell off. Overall cleanliness of property was not thorough (piles of dust under/behind furniture). The biggest problem was that we didn't feel safe having anyone sleep upstairs, because there is NO SAFE EGRESS from that space. We had to have some people sleep on couches and on blow-up beds that we brought (thank goodness we brought them). The cushions for the outdoor furniture had all been left outside in the torrential rain so, we were very disappointed that we couldn't use the outdoor seating.
4.1
When we arrived we had not been sent instructions on how to get the key, didn't know if there was enough of a cell signal to make the call, there was just enough. After getting in the house we found out there was not any hot water, the maintenance man had to come by the next day to restart the boiler. We had to put a couch over the door to the porch to secure the door that could not be locked. One of the winds in the master bed room could not be closed. As for cleaning, there were cob webs in the kitchen, the sectional sofa in the living room had trash under the cushions and under the sofa. The fire place made a loud popping sound in-between fires so we shut it down.

Excellent place for some relaxation! Loved the views and the privacy of this place - would recommend to others for sure.

This is a comfortable house in a quiet, beautiful location. It needs some maintenance - not all windows function properly several appliances are very noisy, and there is a broken chair. It is also very buggy but fixing the windows and, I suggest, adding a screen to the upper deck door would probably help.

Amazing House
2 huge decks (one covered) to enjoy the stars and water views. You can take great hikes right from the house, Wilburs Preserve is right there overlooking Fort Popham. Enjoy watching the ClamHunter on his fanboat, and stop by his storefront on the way from Bath! This is a very comfortable and well appointed house, the ladder to the loft is best for kids over 5 or so. 3 large bedrooms downstairs are great, 2 new Smart TVs in Great Room and Master Bedroom.

The vista views were just stunningly beautiful and the accomodations were quite nice. Certain things around the house are approaching the need of a little attention but there was nothing there that detracted from our enjoyment. We are planning to rent this property in the future.

Great Location, great views, interesting house!
A very unusual house, as the pictures indicate. It's quite "out of the way", but if that's what you're looking for this is a fantastic place. Really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean, everything in order (I just wish there was a great stereo to drive those Klipsch speakers in the Great Room!)

The house and site are spectacular. We really enjoyed it.
But it is showing it’s thirty years of wear and more upkeep should be done on a regular basis. The house was not super clean when we got there with dust and dead flies around. There was some confusion about the ice making machine, because the refrigerator one was broken, that a simple note could have explained. The trash had not been emptied when we arrived so our considerable trash was added to it and it didn’t all fit in the bins provided. Several of the windows were unusable, screens torn, and hooks falling out of the walls. There were not enough reading lamps in the bedrooms. That the only way to to children’s’ excellent bunk room was a ladder should have been explained in advance, but we only had one fall. In all, I would love to go there again as it is very near my brother’s house, but not unless things were kept up a little more. At the price charged it is no bargain. B. Bragdon

Great older kids room. The upstairs is up a ladder. It’s not suitable for sending up older adults, or young kids. But for older kids it’s pretty good. Although it gets a bit hot up there. The big octagonal room is fun for adults. We slept all the beds. It would be best for a smaller group of adults (6) because the room is very “live” and the volume gets high. It was designed to be that way by the person who originally built it, but with a lot of people talking in here it’s pretty loud. Anyway the area is delightful and I would rent this house again.

No doubt the house has a great location. You easily view the creek and the ocean. However, there are certain things that we didn't like. The bathroom door not have locks. The bedroom's door and windows are not entirely covered with blinds. So be prepared for sunlight to disturb your sleep. Also, the blinds need to be in a darker shade (they are white and are bit hard to pull in and out). When we moved in the house, we found dirt beneath the couch which was bit disappointing. However, there are good things in the house as well. The kitchen is well furnished. Children can be busy with different board games, books and Netflix. The house has barbecue grill machine and propane cylinder filled up. The best part is that it is very close from the Poppham beach.

Five nights at $4000 and EVERY EXPECTATION should have been met and more! What should have been a fantastic home turned out to be a major disappointment! Unfortunately, we were ripped off by the “photos”! We have stayed in many high-end vacation properties and have never been this disappointed.
Let me categorize the many deficiencies and by deficiencies, I mean shortcomings and items that are hazards and some basics that should never be missing in a high end vacation property.
Safety – the “railing” around the stairs is not welded together, it is tied with twine. There were no lights in the ladder well leading to the third floor beds. There were many missing smoke detectors.
Cleanliness – the fans were DISGUSTING! They had dust all over the surface! The bedding in almost every room had stains on it. The pillows were at least 15 years old with one flimsy pillowcase. The kitchen cabinets/dishes had crumbs on the drawers or in the baking tins/pots/pans. Master Bath shower handle has crust on it from water and soap scum. The shower curtains were covered in soap scum at the bottom!
Working Properly – the refrigerator was on its last leg and we had to call someone to come fix it so we didn’t lose all of the groceries we had just brought in! By the way, Kevin with Vacasa was great! If you have major appliances that need repairing (by the way, there was a to do list and buying a new refrigerator is on the list, so the owner knows), and you know you are having guests come stay for an extended period, get it fixed prior to their arrival… better yet replace it and your “vintage” oven! The oven could only be turned on with vice grip pliers! It almost got stuck on! That is a MAJOR FIRE HAZZARD! The stove is also “vintage” and hard to cook on. One of the dining table chairs was broken. There were broken window screens and many of the rollout window handles broke off while trying to open the windows.
Amenities – Wow! You would think that when paying at this price point, there would be matching dishes (plates, bowls, mugs) and in large quantities. There are not enough cups and mugs, nor is there enough dishes, pots/pans/corning ware/baking items and measuring utensils. Not enough chairs at the dining table to accommodate the number of guests that can sleep in the house! That should be a minimum!
BUGS – holy bugs! Ants, flying gnats, etc. Please get an exterminator! There were mouse traps and bug traps everywhere! GROSS! As a guest in your overpriced home, I don’t want to see bugs or all the traps.

My sisters and a few girlfriends stayed at this house for a weekend-in bachelorette party. It was a perfect stay during a time of covid, everything we needed was there and the space was open and airy with all the windows, plus two decks, one of which was shaded as the sun got hot. The views were enjoyable as well, overlooking a bay and the house high enough on a hill to witness a gorgeous sunset. Comfortable furniture too and gorgeous high ceiling in the family room. I look forward to going back with family and all the cousins, to enjoy the 8 beds on the 3rd floor loft- perfect for a brood of cousins to hang!

We had a nice stay, but didn't like the property to the extent that we would likely go back. The great room and the deck have great views. The layout isn't fantastic. The furniture (couches/beds) and linens/bedding are ok, but starting to get a little old and dated. Popham State Beach is fantastic. It is close, but not that close. Unfortunately, there is nothing to the property other than the house, including no direct water access. The remote location and lack of property makes it a little more difficult to easily/quickly do things away from the house than one would like.

Perfect Getaway!
It was an amazing location. Each morning we had coffee on the deck with a gorgeous view. We stayed during the pandemic and took advantage of being off the grid with our closest friends. We loved the beauty of Popham Beach!

Really amazing house
Location is choice and the view is AMAZING. the twin porches were where we spent most of our time and the kitchen was equipped enough for cooking (things like lobsters).
There are a lot of bugs- but that is Maine!

Glorious house
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. The only tiny issue is that because it is on such a remote hilltop, the water pressure is so weak that if someone is taking a shower, none of the faucets in the kitchen will turn on. But— once we coordinated our group to refrain from showering during meal prep times, it was totally fine. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
