About this house rental
This four-bedroom house sits high above the New Meadows River, with strong wi-fi throughout. Relax on the large decks with an expansive view of this wide, salt-water, tidal river and enjoy the eagles flying overhead. Ducks, herons, cormorants, osprey, and eagle swim in or fly above the river, sailboats zip along, and lobster boats pass back and forth, trailed by sea-gulls. If you're lucky you might even see a seal pop its head up as it swims along. Glimpses of the Basin can also be seen from the side deck. Play frisbee or badminton on the front lawn, wander down the path through pine trees and blueberry bushes to the water, picking blueberries and raspberries along the way (in season). Enjoy the view from the rocky coast or walk down the dirt road to a communal cove with easy wading and swimming access. We have a double sit-on-top kayak and two single sit-on-top kayaks available for you to take out to explore the river with the osprey and seals. The combination of lawn, woods, path, and rocky coast make the property a children's wonderland. The house has a beautiful dining/living room space. The dining room is perfect for large family dinners, with seating for up to 8 at the dining room table. The living room has two comfortable couches, a flat-screened television, and a working fireplace. The well-stocked kitchen is comfortable, with ample counter space, dishwasher, and microwave. Our family has spent many years cooking sea-food feasts and baked deserts, and so the kitchen is stocked with a good selection of cooking utensils for these items, including a large pot suitable for lobsters or steaming clams. The first floor has a gorgeous, airy master bedroom that is down a long hall from the rest of the house, offering privacy and separation from the goings-on in the living room/dining area. The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, wooden beams, and an office area that overlooks the New Meadows River, as well as its own doors out to a small patio that is ringed with wildflowers and has views of the river. The first-floor bathroom has a tub/shower with a sky-light above it, so that you can shower with views of pine trees and sky. The toilet and sink are separated from the shower area with a sliding door, so that it is possible for a person to take a shower without blocking bathroom access. The second floor of the house is quaint and rustic, with wood paneling throughout. There are three bedrooms on the second floor (two with water views). The largest second-floor bedroom has a King sized bed and windows on two sides, including a river view. There is a 2nd second-floor bedroom with two twin beds and a view of the river, and a 3rd second-floor bedroom with two twin beds and a small nook with children's play items. While this 3rd bedroom does not overlook the river, its windows offer lovely views of the Maine woods. The second-floor bathroom has a toilet, sink, and shower, but no tub. Throughout, the house is full of rustic charm. The house sits along a dirt road just past the paved section, making it both secluded and with easy access to the surrounding area, including the towns of Bath and Brunswick (both of which offer shopping and many restaurant options, both inexpensive and upscale), and the beautiful state parks Popham Beach and Reid State Park. Freeport and its outlet shopping, Portland with its fine dining and museums, and the art galleries of Wiscasset are all within an hour drive. You can spend the day exploring and come home to enjoy a gorgeous sunset from the west-facing deck or the dining area's large windows. The house has a washer and dryer, wireless Internet access, one flat-screened TV and cable, and is well stocked with games. There is a small selection of family-friendly DVDs and a DVD player, and an old record player with the family's record collection of jazz, classical, classic rock, and musical cast albums that you are welcome to enjoy.

This is a beautiful, well thought out, clean, lovely home.
I can't say enough good things about it. It is a lived in home and not a cookie-cutter sterile empty place that is only there to make money. It is clear that people live here and that they love the house. The art on the walls is beautiful. Great location, nice beach, close to everything and yet beautifully secluded. We really loved our stay and thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

This was such a special place to spend our family vacation. We enjoyed kayaking, playing badminton, going to the beach and watching sunsets from the deck. We also loved spotting bald eagles and even an owl while we were there. The house was clean and well appointed. The owner was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. We highly recommend this location for a true Maine vacation!

We loved the feel and comfort of this lovely house, with old time character and modern conveniences. The beautiful water view and gardens, and kayak adventures made it extremely special. We hope to return!

We were happy with everything!! House was spacious and inviting. Having four bedrooms was important for us. Great yard for volleyball. Good access to the water. Please thank the owners for us!

We booked this wonderfully nostalgic home for a last minute getaway over the 4th of July. Everything about the house made us feel right at home. We spent most of our stay out on the deck with our feet kicked up. What a view!

Property owner had great information for local attractions, go Lobstering! The property is off the main path and the kayak and water access was great way to relax just would be nice to not have to walk down the road for beach access but the view was nice from the deck. The house is dated but clean and has all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay.

We absolutely loved our stay! Our group consisted of 6 adults and our golden retriever. Perfect yard for a dog. We loved spending nights on the deck looking at the sunset. The outdoor space is exactly what you want; enough space for everyone and a view of the water through the trees. The home was charming and cozy. Kitchen had all of the essentials. We made a lobster dinner and utilized the beautiful dining room table. Alwynne let us know that the washer wasn’t working and provided us with a $300 refund which was beyond generous. She had someone fix it a few days into our stay. Communication with Alwynne was fantastic. There is so much to do in Phippsburg and the surrounding towns. There is a private cove that was a short walk down the road that we had all to ourselves. We had a beach day and took the kayaks out. The neighbors were very friendly and provided us recommendations. There are few restaurants and a general store near by. Overall a wonderful experience! This was our second time in Maine and we will be back again!

What a wonderful home in a fantastic location! It has everything you need for a getaway: open and inviting communal spaces including a spacious wraparound deck, stocked kitchen for meals, comfy beds, working fireplace, and so much more. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Beautiful location with water views. Short walk to picturesque cove. Relatively short drive to Popham Beach, a long beach great for walking with views of multiple islands. Appreciated addition of A/C to living area and upstairs bedrooms as it was hot (at least for Maine). Well equipped kitchen. Pet friendly so we could bring our dog.

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay at new meadow cove spot. The views were spectacular, there was a large living/dining area that was open and surrounded by windows. It got pretty hot during our stay so we greatly appreciated the air conditioning making things much more comfortable! The house is in close proximity to Popham state beach (with access to a state park pass), Bath, Brunswick and Freeport are close by as is Boothbay. Nice quiet location and perfect if you are looking to relax and disconnect. Alwynne was very prompt and responsive!

This house is in a perfect location on the Phippsburg peninsula. Our family enjoyed swimming and kayaking from the community dock only steps from the house. Our kids and dog loved playing in the yard as we watched sunsets from the porch over the cove. Beautiful Popham beach and Fort Popham are only a 15 minute drive. Bath for shopping and restaurants is also only 15 minutes away.
The house itself was comfortable, clean and well appointed. The kitchen is well equipped with all we needed. The porch and yard are both fantastic.
I would highly recommend this wonderful place!

We had a great time at the cabin with our family of 5+2 friends. The teenagers loved exploring the area. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful old Maine family historic home. Beautiful upgrades to the living area and master bedroom. We loved the surrounding area. Really appreciated the AC and the fireplace. Nice walk from the house in the wooded quiet area end of peninsula. Beautiful grounds, cute nearby cove and dock, kayaks, peaceful and quiet. Really enjoyed the Popham Beach pass. Phippsburg is so cute as well as Bath, where we spent a fun rainy day (good coffee, nice shops). We highly recommend Spinneys, Trish’s pies, Winnegance Cafe. Alwynne was extremely responsive via text to any questions or issues and fixed a few minor problems immediately.

What a lovely place to enjoy a long holiday weekend away with the family. We loved the large deck for relaxing on in the late afternoon and watching the sun go down. Our boys loved the large yard for playing and relaxing on the hammock near the water. Bedrooms were nice and everyone slept well. Recommended!

We loved our stay! Everything was as described and the property had more than we could have possibly needed. Alwynne was very responsive both prior to arriving and during our stay (we had a couple of minor questions). The house has plenty of room for family and extended family! Would absolutely stay again and it is in such a beautiful location and close to Popham beach!!

It was a pleasure to be able to plan a vacation after staying close to home for over two years. Maine has always been a favourite destination, so we started looking for a pet-friendly property in our preferred location. Alwynne’s home seemed perfect and it was available for the week we wanted. Our interaction with her was excellent. She was very responsive and answered any questions we had.
We had no problem finding the property and the house was just as the photos showed. It’s a lovely, large home with a warm, family feel to it. Lots of room to accommodate large groups. The sunsets off the deck were spectacular. Our black lab enjoyed exploring the large property. Alwynne provided lots of information on local restaurants and things to do. The check-in and check-out process was easy and we’d definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and a true Maine experience!

We had a wonderful week at Alwynne's amazing house in Phippsburg. The rooms are comfortable and there are wonderful touches, like great books, games, and even an awesome record collection. The views and porch overlooking the water are incredible, and the kids loved scampering down the hill and picking wild blueberries. We'd love to visit again next year.

Beautiful home away from home
My partner and I just returned from a glorious week at the Wilbur property. The location is fabulously peaceful and gorgeous - nothing beats the sunsets from the deck. But perhaps more than anything, the property was very much a home - not just a rental unit. We were so appreciative of the esthetic and the trust placed in us as guests in the home. We hope to return next summer!

Quintessential Maine Coast Cottage
A charming character-filled cottage in an amazing location. Wake up to the sound of lobster boats heading out and the scent of lupines and salt air. Watch the sunset from the deck. I can see us renting again in the future. Loved it.

An oasis of peace and beauty
We had a simply lovely trip at this beautiful home. I don't think I've ever stayed at a place that was so well equipped -- and I can reassure you that the photos simply don't do this justice. It's a mix of old and new, but always comfortable. (Although, use that bug spray!) We took advantage of the local recommendations from Alwynne, who was gracious and prompt to respond. During this strange time of COVID, we also felt completely safe...and welcomed. The sunsets are simply the most beautiful I've seen in my life. In all, one of our top 10 trips!

End of summer in Maine
We had a wonderful end of summer stay. The home and property were just as described and exactly what we were looking for. The property is quite large and very secluded. Amazing views of the water and sunsets. The home owners responsiveness was great. Any questions before and during the stay were responded to within hours. We are already talking about going back in a couple of summers!

Beautiful home / great for families!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay! Such a beautiful home and setting. 5 adults and 2 toddlers fit comfortably, and their lovely dining room was perfect for shared meals - beautiful view and sunsets. The tidal cove just down the road was so much fun for our kids. The property’s lawn was great for kids (& adults) to play on (great badminton set, btw!). The water access on the property was great for adults to explore, but too uneven for little ones. We liked the location about halfway down the Phippsburg peninsula - wasn’t far to drive south to Popham Beach or north to Bath/Route 1/etc. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Great house for our adult family vacation
Everything we needed for our home away from home. Especially loved the large and comfortable dining room / livingroom where we did a lot of our hanging out.

OMG what a place!
This property is exactly as it appears on the listing. If she put it up for sale, we'd snatch it up in a heartbeat! The location is perfect, with easy access to the water in front of the house and a little cove just a block or so away where people gather for happy hour and to let kids swim and boat. The neighbors are so friendly, too. The kitchen has just what we needed to cook terrific meals - went out rarely because cooking was so easy. The master bedroom downstairs is heaven - quiet, peaceful, lots of window and fresh air. Upstairs three great guest rooms for family and another bathroom up. Alwynn was wonderful to deal with - flexible, friendly, welcoming. We will be back, if they'll have us, and next time, for a full month. The time flew by. I want to put in a good word for two things: the Maritime Museum in Bath and the Cabin restaurant in Bath. The pizza there was the best I have had, and we've had pizza all around the world.

Great place for a Maine vacation
It felt like home away from home with everything we needed for playing in and on the water, cooking family meals, hanging out watching the days begin and end, reading, listening to music, playing games, observing wildlife, taking walks. Plenty of space for our group of eight to enjoy each other's company and then escape for a little down time. Beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood.

Peaceful home base
We enjoyed the Covespot property as a base for a week of day-trips in the mid-coast area, traveling as far as Acadia and Mt. Washington. The house offered everything we needed to rest and recover from our outings. It served our family of five—including 3 older teenagers—very nicely. The owner was very responsive to our one complaint, and very understanding of our needs, deferring the non-urgent repair so as not to interfere with our visit. If you want a quiet, rustic setting, a comfortable house with views of sunsets, loons, and even seals on the water, located 20 minutes from a couple of nice towns, this property is a good find.

Perfect Maine Cabin!!
We were in Maine for our daughter’s graduation. The house in Phipsburg was perfect! Plenty of room beautiful views of the ocean. Even though it was a rainy weekend we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It felt like we were visiting a comfortable well cared for and loved home. We are grateful that all our relatives were able to be together in such a relaxed and beautiful setting. Highly recommend this house!!!

Sunsets and the sounds of lobster boats!
The house and property are amazing. Beautiful yard where the kids loved to run around, pick the last remaining blueberries of summer, and watch dragon flies skirt around. Watching the sunsets on the back porch were amazing and waking up each morning to the soft sound of lobster boats in the distance made this truly an incredible experience. Alwynne was responsive to our needs during the whole process and couldn't have asked for a better way to finish up the 2017 Summer. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Wonderful stay
The view of the ocean hits you as soon as you walk in the door. Beautiful and never gets old. We lived on the deck . Very quiet yet 20 minutes to Bath . Comfortable Maine experience. Lovely master suite giving privacy in a separate wing from the rest of the house. Adorable upstairs . Kitchen sufficient if you want to cook but glad I brought my own cake pans to make a birthday cake. The hand mixer should be replaced . No AC but we did not need it due to lovely breezes and cooler nights. Fans provided in case needed. I would suggest bringing extra towels as only one bath towel per person provided. This is minor but just noting for others. Long and the short of it is we had a blast and loved it. Would rent again.

Beautiful property!
We had a wonderful stay at the house and will be back! From the water views to the spacious home, our vacation was perfect. Plenty of things to cook with, movies and games to play and beautiful sunsets.
The book of passes to the beach, and things to do was very helpful. We had a great time!

Great Getaway
My family had an amazing early summer vacation in June at the house. Our kids enjoyed all the toys, games, wildlife and outside area, as well as trips to nearby Maine State Aquarium, Popham Beach and exploring the L.L. Bean store in Freeport. The house has a beautiful view of the water and my wife and I enjoyed taking the SUPs out, grilling on the porch and having coffee in the morning outside. The kids also loved the cove / swimming area because of all the hermit crabs and other things to find. Alwynne was super responsive before and during our stay and very helpful in answering our questions. Amazing local seafood too. House is good for guests with the extra beds. It was the perfect getaway we needed.

The perfect fit for a family gathering in Maine!
Here in Maine for a wedding on the beach. This Summer house became our home for 5 days. Housed the eight of us comfortably...ages 22 to 93, and family members from New Jersey, Idaho and Oregon! In a convenient location to the church, other families and the historic town of Bath. Had all the fittings needed to support us and also large family dinner gathering. Large great room with dinning room and fire place. Deck captured our hearts in the evening with magnificent sunsets! A great surprise was the record player with a large supporting cast of artists and venues which added to our enjoyment...moved the dining room table, and suddenly we had a dance floor to great music for our family gathering!
