About this cottage rental
Welcome to a place of enchantment. This unique cottage, a blend of the Old and the New offers the bliss of the mountains yet all the modern day essentials. Nestled on a ridge in the in-town Mirror Lake Neighborhood, it overlooks 6.5 Acres of wooded privacy from a wonderful 32 foot Living Porch (2/3 covered) with the enjoyment of Humming Birds, Owls, Starry Nights, and Total Peace. A fenced rear yard opens off the porch. It is an easy walk to Mirror Lake and just minutes away from downtown Main Street and all Highlands has to offer.
The Absolutely Divine Master Bedroom with Cathedral Ceilings is separately located upstairs encompassing an incredible vista and wintertime mountain view. We added an "Fabulous New Sky-Deck" right off the Master Bedroom this year. It is the cat's Meow !! The Master Bath with jetted tub is like being in the woods. The Guest Bedroom with Extra Length Twin Beds (which may be joined to make a King) and second Bath, are privately located on the Main Floor. A Charming Music Room, for those who love Piano, is a wonderful retreat also allowing space for additional sleeping (Coleman Mattress) and offers an adjacent Half Bath.
On those chilly evenings the wood burning stone fireplace adds the final touch of what we most seem to enjoy in our mountains. Welcome home !!
**House will be Closed and Winterized for December through March. We will accept reservations for 2022 beginning 1/01/2022.

Totally relaxing stay at this cabin. Very secluded but still very close to town. Would definitely stay again.

The property was just as described and suited as perfectly. We loved her outdoor space the most, and the host did a great job of providing us with information about the area, restaurants and things to do. I would definitely recommend this cabin. It was very clean also.

Good location but needs to be updated. Everything inside looks as if it came from a thrift store. Porch needs pressure washing and new furniture!! If it is ti be rented, something needs to be done!!

The moment we stepped inside we felt relaxed and in a perfect place to celebrate Thanksgiving in Highlands, NC. The owner’s cottage, decorated with bric-a-brac, antiques, and even a piano, fit our eclectic style and had everything one could need for a brief stay. And in spite of the holiday, the owner was able to promptly replaced a faulty hot water heater. We hope to experience this lovely cottage surrounded by Mountain Laurels in future seasons.

My wife and I travel to Highlands about four times a year and this was our first visit to this nice cottage. The neighborhood is excellent for walks and access to town. The wood burning fireplace was an extra bonus on cooler evenings.
We definitely plan to return here!!

We were blessed to have had the opportunity to visit this choice cabin during peak leaf color in Highlands!
This cabin/ cottage was perfect for our needs. The privacy was great. The location was convenient to downtown Highlands and all leaf trails/roadways. The fenced yard is invaluable to those of us who travel with a pet! The upstairs master bedroom is like sleeping in a cathedral in the treetops ( and in a couple of weeks should afford a lovely ridge/ Mountain View).
June is gracious and kind and responsive. She checked on us to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Great trip and experience. Thank you, June.

This was our third time at this property. The house is very cozy with a great Mirror Lake location. Mirror Lake is a great area for walking around, and it is five minutes from downtown Highlands. The music room is a wonderful plus. The upstairs master suite is like being in a treehouse with the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gorgeous woodlands. We had a wonderful stay.

We arrived late day and had to leave early the next morning as my husband was up most all night not feeling well. Was only there for 14 hours so not fair for me to rate. Did not get to experience much of anything.

We enjoyed the treehouse-cozy feeling of this property, and having a fenced area in the backyard was an extra bonus. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. June was great with explanations/ communication. The only drawback was the well-used furniture on the first floor. We were stuck in the house a good amount of time due to rain, and the upholstered furniture was really unusable. We ended up moving some chairs from upstairs around the 1st floor as needed.

This was our second stay. The first stay was for a week with family and we enjoyed the property immensely. It has everytng you need . This time it was just my wife and I and it was just as special. We hope to stay there many times in the future.

Fall leaves, crisp weather, warm fire, tucked in a mountain neighborhood 💛 Only a few minutes drive to the town. Loved having our own place to relax and view nature but the convenience of a quick drive into town to enjoy the shops & restaurants. Cooking breakfast & dinner~ we had no problems with dishes, pots, condiments, all available. We will return!

We enjoyed our 4-weeks in Highlands at the Enchanted Cabin. June (5 stars!) has put much love into the cabin and one feels as if she has invited you to share in her life. Ample book selection, piano, and linen napkins make it feel like a snapshot into their life. She was very friendly and communicative, answered our many questions in a timely fashion, and very helpful when we had to move around our dates. The location is fabulous with the perfect juxtaposition of private, quiet in-the-woods-ambiance yet proximity to town, hikes, and area sites like waterfalls. You cannot hear the main road from her house. House was very clean upon arrival. The bedroom upstairs feels like a treehouse and wood burning fireplace in LR creates wonderful ambiance. Easy access to fenced area for dogs to go outside from back door. The hot water was plentiful.
There are a few basic items to help you get started in the kitchen that have been left from previous guests such as olive oil, salt, and pepper, cooking spray…but if you arrive at night, you may want to be prepared to stop and get your breakfast supplies. Kitchen is equipped with basics for simple meal prep. For more than the weekend grocery shopping there is a larger and less expensive market in Cashiers called Ingles, as well as a high end meat and fish shop in same strip called Native Prime. The Owner is very knowledgeable and sources his grass-fed, grass finished beef, etc, from Summerfield Farms, plus fish that he drives to pick-up himself off the coast of NC. His smoked bacon is The Best. The prices are high end, but being foodies, we were excited to purchase some delicious fish, shrimp, beef, and a lot of bacon from him.
Improvements (which should always be taken with a grain of salt, but why I cannot give 5 stars): perhaps it is because we were in Highlands for 4 weeks we got to know the house well. The furniture in the living room is quite careworn. We appreciate that it is a pet friendly house, but is on the older side. Additionally, the grill didn’t really work even after replacing the gas tank and ensuring the lines were clear. We did alert June who acknowledged grill’s lackluster performance but was not able to replace or repair during our stay.
We loved our first visit to Highlands and definitely considering a repeat visit next year.

This cabin was older but cozy, well supplied and had some unique touches. The deck is spacious and a wonderful place to enjoy nature. The master bedroom was roomy with a comfortable bed and lots of windows to enjoy nature. The host has tried to provide most anything a guest would need during their stay. From the guest's perspective it was difficult to find space for any groceries other than the fridge. Perhaps a few less dishes and/or decor items would free up a shelf or cabinet to store a few groceries for cooking. The living room couch and chair are long past their prime and we found them uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. With that said, we had a great visit and enjoyed the cabin.

Peaceful and Tranquil Getaway
Loved our stay here! So many positives - quiet and beautiful neighborhood, tons of privacy inside and outside on decks, comfy bed, three bathrooms, supplies galore, master shower with big windows looking out to woods, and amazing wildlife. There is so much love poured into this house and we could really feel it. June is very communicative and we feel fortunate she shared her place with us. We visited many waterfalls, hiked a lot, visited Cashiers/Sapphire/Brevard and loved Highlands of course. We hope to return!

Peaceful fairytale cottage getaway
The cottage is so completely charming and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The beautiful trees surrounding the decks gave beauty and relaxation while enjoying our tea. The cottage is a short drive to Main Street highlands and multiple waterfall hikes which we enjoyed thoroughly. June was wonderful and so gracious. Our entire family loved staying here.

Cozy Cabin in the woods of North Carolina
My family and I enjoyed spending 4 days in the beautiful cabin! It was perfect for us, we hiked during the days and we came back in the evening, it felt so cozy and comfortable! There were plenty of sofas and chairs for us to sit and relax! We drank our coffee early morning on the back porch as we were watching many beautiful birds enjoying a treat from the 2 bird feeders and the hummingbird feeder! We saw a variety of wildlife! We felt connected to Nature even sitting inside! The cabin was beautifully decorated with nice furniture and paintings. It is a great place to escape the daily rat race and enjoy some relaxation!

Charming and well appointed cottage. The view from the upstairs bedroom is amazing. The location is perfect with easy access to Downtown Highlands, restaurants and hiking trails. If traveling with a pet, a small fenced backyard is a nice surprise.

Peaceful retreat
Loved watching all the birds, squirrels, & chipmunks eating; some right next to us, they seem to be used to people around. The views in the upstairs bedroom are awesome! We enjoyed our weekend getaway very much! Thank you for sharing your retreat!

Great mountain getaway
This cottage is inviting and cozy and the perfect place for enjoying the mountains. It was our second time here, and we will be back! The upstairs master is to die for, with the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the tall trees, and you feel as if you are three stories up - plus the deck off the master is a real bonus. And for a piano player like myself, what a huge plus to have the piano room for playing to one's heart's content. We loved walking around the Mirror Lake area, and the fall leaves were gorgeous. The house is five minutes away (by car) from town. All in all, one of our favorite places to stay. Highly recommend.

Quaint cottage nestled in the trees
My husband and I were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary with a week in Highlands. This cottage was a perfect setting. Since the weather got chilly we were able to enjoy many fires in the stone fireplace. We enjoyed watching the birds on the lovely back porch where we grilled one evening. The kitchen is small but has everything you need to prepare a wonderful meal. The master bedroom upstairs is light filled with huge windows and a very comfortable king bed. We liked that the cottage had all of the basics we needed to start enjoying our stay right away without having to run to the grocery for paper towels etc. The location is very convenient to Highlands city center. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cozy, rustic home in great location
We enjoyed our stay at the cozy and charming "Mirror Lake" cabin. The house is actually up a rather steep and winding road from the lake--but this is a good thing, as the ample back porch and new master bedroom porch overlook some lovely woods. The owners are very communicative and the listing was accurate. Also, all of the amenities (grill, fireplace, tub, etc.) worked well, and our kids loved the bird visitors that came when we filled the feeders. The location is indeed near Mirror Lake and the On The Veranda restaurant, and quite convenient to the town of Highlands as well as hiking and waterfalls along Highway 64.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Highlands Cottage. The location truly is just minutes from downtown and very close to many beautiful hikes. Slept great! Charming House & Relaxing Stay
We were very impressed with this home nestled in the woods and the rhododendron in a very quiet neighborhood. The accommodations were perfect with everything that we needed. Its quite easy to get into town from this location and we saw some beautiful wildlife including a couple of red foxes and a momma bear one street over with four cubs, which was quite exciting! The Highlands area is spectacular and the restaurants are excellent, including Smokehouse BBQ which is very close by. This rental is definitely one we will do again and we can't wait to come back. The owners also serve as the Property Manager and are quite hospitable and wonderful to deal with---worrying about your comfort during our entire stay and making themselves totally accessible. We had a truly awesome experience!
